Dear Buffy writers, it's me, Domi. I am once again begging for more Cordelia screentime. Thank you.

Also, Angel is BACK and Ms. Post goes postal? Should have seen those coming!

Xander is no longer jealous of Buffy in a romantic sense. There has been no indication, since “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered”, that he is still looking at Buffy in that way – and there never is again. Buffy was wrong in that accusation. He may be overprotective which could be considered a form of jealousy. But his reason for hating Angel is mostly because of Jenny, which is the reason he brings it up. The problem, as you stated so well, in a recent episode, is that the show does a great job of purposefully confusing us on the difference in Angel and Angelus. In Beauty and the Beasts *everyone* distinguished between werewolf Oz and not-werewolf Oz but they don’t give Angel the same consideration. Though I understand Giles’s personal issues with Angel(us), he is more to blame than Xander in this non-distinction between Angel and Angelus. He is the Watcher, the keeper of the lore. Xander does a lot of things that I can understand getting pissed at (and his not telling Buffy about Willow still working the spell to ensoul Angel last season is amongst the biggest wrongs done to each other by our characters), but he seems to be an easy scapegoat, when Giles proves to have been, at least, just as unreasonable. Giles’s comment that Buffy must have known it was wrong or else she wouldn’t have kept quiet about it isn’t the main motive, I don’t think. She knew how he and Xander would react – that’s why she kept it quiet. And Giles proves her right, as he will, again, in an episode coming up soon. As to Willow respecting Buffy’s decision, I have no idea how she would have handled it otherwise but it was made clear that her “respect” was mostly based on her own guilt about her secret. You can’t defend any of their actions in this so-called intervention. They one and all ganged up against Buffy. No need to scapegoat Xander, we have a whole group of wrongdoers to blame (though I’ll let Cordy and Oz skate).

Great post Carl. I agree with everything (except about Angel season 5! by far my favorite season of Angel.)

Steve Quast

Is it Christmas already? This is like a day early! 🦖

Steve Quast

You're right about the episode title. Another miracle! 😎😋😎😋

Domi E

Given how time has been so weird lately I wanna go with yes MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Domi E

Hahaha. I love being right 😆

HuntingSwan

I think it's a really fun sign of the power level of slayers that Buffy never normally bruises after her fights with enemies but Faith's blows left a mark.

Rey

What the rest of the watchers could be doing? We may or may not get an answer.

Steve Quast

Poor Giles. The Watchers' Council never tells him anything lol. Last season they failed to tell him there was another slayer, leaving him quite "flummoxed" when Kendra arrived. And now we find out they didn't tell him about a rogue watcher who dabbles in the occult. (A "memo" indeed, pffft!)

Steve Quast

"I know I kept secrets. I didn't have a choice." Buffy, to use your own line against you from last season (also episode 7, interestingly enough), You had a choice. Maybe not a good choice, but you had a choice. *Mic drop*

R J Walker (FumblesMcStupid)

Yeah, that line stood out for me. She's still a little in denial and is still trying to justify her decision IMO

Steve Quast

Xander's comments toward Buffy vs Willow's comments well illustrate the proverb: "A butcher cuts to kill, but a surgeon cuts to heal."

R J Walker (FumblesMcStupid)

Excellent reaction :) You were right, so many faces lol So, I know it's not everybody's favourite but I really love this episode because it tells you so much about all the characters. Some of it you kinda already know, Xander will get upset because of jealousy and throw Ms Weekend's...sorry, Ms Calendar's (;D) name around to win points in arguments. However, I don't blame him for being angry and scared, there is NO reason to assume that Angel is 100% all right, you said it yourself, who knows what 100's of years in hell has done to him? However, he always puts his points in the most hurtful way possible, thus drowning out any good arguments he's got. Willow is feeling guilty about her and Xander so that helps her empathise but she's also the sort who can see things rationally and try to keep calm. While it's a factor, I don't think her own guilt is primarily the reason she's so willing to forgive Buffy, although maybe she's not 'zero' angry with Buffy. However, she's a good friend, knows that Buffy is feeling awful and is going to stick with her, even if she is maybe a bit shocked/upset that Buffy didn't tell her. Cordy is spot on that Angelus attacked Buffy's friends and is just stating her thoughts as usual and Oz doesn't say much. Neither of them had a huge amount to deal with re Angelus, especially Oz. Faith, I can totally see why she acts as she does because for me the worst thing that Xander does is encourage her. It's far worse than the argument. He does it because he knows he doesn't have the strength to kill Angel but Faith does. It's one of the reasons I suspect that Faith is feeling so let down at the end. Sure, she fought with Buffy but that was Xander's fault and I suspect that Faith can see that. It kills me how Faith is manipulated in this episode by Xander and Post. Post is a master at seeing how to divide and conquer and she sees immediately that telling Faith about the meeting is bound to upset her. However, Faith wouldn't have been invited because she wasn't there in season 2 so doesn't really have any stake in the situation. Of course, Faith doesn't know this and assumes she's being kept out of a meeting of friends (if only she know! lol). While I love the line 'Faith, you're an idiot' for its delivery it's such a cruel thing to say to Faith. Post ggrrrrr >:( OK, this is getting long and I haven't even started on Buffy and Giles ;)

Tim Pierce

You starting to notice a theme with episode 7's of Buffy? Angel, Lie To Me, and now Revelations.

Domi E

Wow that's a great point!!!

Domi E

Hmmm, we shall see!!

Rörd Hinrichsen

Didn't we learn that Kendra trained for becoming a slayer since she was very young? So that would suggest that at least some watchers are busy training potential future slayers.

Domi E

This watchers' council really needs to up its game, I vote lets put Wes in charge cause why not... Giles is too busy with Buffy!

Domi E

Ow, that one hurt </3

Domi E

Poor Faith :( She really does deserve so much better I wanna give her a huge hug!!

Domi E

Oooooh... Interesting!

Domi E

Oh interesting, I hadn't thought of the idea of potential slayers! Totally slipped my mind. Great point!

Tim Pierce

They always seem to mark the end of act 1 of the season.

R J Walker (FumblesMcStupid)

OK, Buffy...As was said above, she DID have a choice and the fact that she's still saying she didn't just makes me believe that she is still trying to justify this to herself. I understand it would be difficult but she HAD to tell Giles at the very least. The way I see it, she desperately wants to have a happy relationship with Angel (and who can blame her) but secretly knows she can't, so she puts off having to face this. As soon as she tells somebody reality will hit and she doesn't want that. For these last few episodes she's been living in denial about how serious this is because she doesn't want to think about it. Don't get me wrong, I have a LOT of sympathy for her. He's her first love and she's clearly still in love with him. She doesn't want to lose him. But, as Giles said, "If you didn't think it was wrong why didn't you tell us" (I'm paraphrasing, can't remember the exact line). She gets defensive in the argument IMO because she knows she did the wrong thing, then she gets angry because of the way Xander is talking. But she doesn't know that the things she says in the argument are true. She doesn't know what 100's of years in hell have done. Maybe it's easier for Angel to lose his soul now, maybe it's harder, maybe (as you said) he's mentally unstable now and could go homicidal even if he is Angel. She doesn't know, she just hopes that's not the case. Or she hasn't thought about it. Tbh what Willow says is true, Buffy can't think straight when it comes to Angel. I'll be a bit brutal here, but you could say that she has always prioritised him. It's understandable, he's her first love, but I can ALMOST understand The Lie from Xander because I think that's how he sees it. I don't think he was right to lie in Becoming btw but I can understand why he was afraid that, yet again, she'd be unable to kill him. It doesn't show a lot of faith in her, tbh, but I can see his reasoning (even if I disagree with it). And Giles...first off, his interactions with Post are very revealing I think. She must know who he is. She's been a watcher up till only two years ago. They obviously haven't met but she might well have heard of him. Even if she hadn't she'd do her homework. At least I assume so because she hit Giles where it hurt - she questioned his methods as a watcher, his intelligence, his library, his tea making lol AND becoming American - all things that I think define Giles when he thinks about his good qualities (and being Mr England lol). The fact is, she is right that he is not strict. It's always funny seeing reactors watching season 1 and thinking Giles is being unreasonably strict (I don't think you did particularly but some people get really angry with Giles at first). Now, Post is strict and tbh so was Kendra's watcher. We don't meet him but his rules were draconian! Giles is a pussycat compared to these two (and it was nice to hear you say how you realise how lucky Buffy is and how nice their relationship is, because, yeah lol). Attacking these things about Giles is always going to put him on edge. He was very nervous around Kendra as well because IMO he thought she would be going straight back to her watcher and the Council was going to find out about the friends, the social life, the fact that Buffy didn't follow orders and that he threw out the Slayer manual, and he was going to be in big trouble! If Post and Kendra's watchers are the norm then Giles is highly unorthodox. Of course, we only have three watchers to go by (there's not much evidence about Faith's) so maybe Giles isn't unusual but his reactions say otherwise to me. There's also the fact that, yet again, he's apparently not been informed of something by the Council. My theory is that when Kendra was called they simply cut him and Buffy out of the conversation. All the memos went to Zabuto from then on, which is why he knew about the 'dark powers' rising in Sunnydale both times but Giles did not. Anyway, Giles is NOT having a good time, and the dig about 'slipping up on the little things' as she removes a tea bag on a string from her cup (and his look of embarrassment) is a wonderfully subtle jab at him. And then he finds out about Angel... So, I find it interesting that he says almost nothing when they are all there. IMO he lay awake all night thinking about how she's been lying to him from at least the conversation about the 'dream' she had, how she lied to him, Joyce, and Willow last episode and presumably more times than that, and he's angry and hurt (to put it mildly). I think he realised that if he talked to her he would say things he might regret and ruin their relationship. So, he realises that the group needs to meet Buffy together, rather than him one on one. Also, keeping Xander out of it would mean that he would just have said those things in private and that might be even worse. Willow has to be there, to be calm, and then you kind of have to have Cordelia and Oz since it affects them too. I say this because a lot of people criticise the decision to have all of them there to 'gang up on' Buffy but I kinda see why they did it like that. Anyway, back to my point. I don't think that Giles ever intended to say anything to Buffy, which is why he halted the meeting and headed straight to his office. Unfortunately Buffy followed him and, worse, misread how he was feeling and thought him an ally. This finally made Giles snap and he let her have it. OK, he was calm and didn't yell but what he says is devastating. It is also a huge clue about how he feels about the situation IMO. He speaks in the present tense about 'harbouring a known killer'. He must know that's not strictly true if this is Angel. He's the one who said in 1x07 that the demon is a completely separate entity to the souled man. Technically he KNOWS that Angel didn't do those things to him or Jenny. BUT when his emotions come in to play he can't separate the two. In that moment Angel IS Angelus. He'd like to be Mr Calm and Logical but he can't because deep down he is Mr Emotional and Passionate and there's nothing he can do to mask that in this scene. I think he's self aware enough to know this and that is why he doesn't want to talk to Buffy about this because he doesn't want to jeopardise their relationship by saying something he can't take back. You were right when you said 'He's not wrong' (at least about the last part) and that 'it's personal'. It is! A lot is made of the trauma that Buffy suffered but the fact is that season 2 is about the shared trauma of Buffy and Giles and he is at least as screwed up about last year as she is and, one might argue, they both have PTSD. They express it differently. Buffy is in denial and trying not to think about it. Giles is hurt and angry, and trying not to think about it. And the fact is, until the evening before, he thought he'd NEVER have to think about any of this again and now Angel is back and it's dragging up all the emotions I don't think he ever properly dealt with from last year. I LOVE that scene because it cuts to the heart of who Giles is, he's a deeply emotional, sensitive, fucked up guy who has been totally thrown for a loop and isn't coping very well. Fortunately Buffy seems to have taken his words on board and hopefully they can move beyond this. OK, that was a bit long ;)

R J Walker (FumblesMcStupid)

Yes, I know what you mean. The situation has really made her feel left out and, apart from Buffy at the end there, it's debatable how much the others are really trying to help. Giles somewhat but Willow really doesn't like her and Xander used her :( Faith and trust are not friends :'(

zerofk

Good predictions at the start :-) The episode titles usually have more than one meaning. Revelation: there's a new watcher. Revelation: Angel is alive and back. Revelation: the new watcher is evil. The end of this episode with Faith sitting alone in her room is very sad. She wanted to connect with Buffy but didn't know how. She took a real beating this episode - and I don't mean just physically. When Mrs. Post first shows up Fait says her authority figures "end up kinda dead". In this episode she started to respect Mrs. Post, a new authority figure, and she not only ends up kinda dead but also kinda evil. That's gotta leave a mark.

Ron Fehr

Well, you called it when you said it would be her friends finding out about Angel, instead of her telling them. It seems appropriate that Xander would be the first to find out.

CeNedra

I haven't watched it yet but I'm already pissed at Xander 🙄😂😂 Here we go...

CeNedra

I do personally believe that Buffy should have told Giles about Angel but not necessarily the scoobies, yes, they're part of the slay-gang but what they need to know should be the business of the slayer and watcher, at the end of the day Buffy is the slayer and the one with the power so final decisions are really hers, she has proven herself more than once and despite what she feels for Angel she knows she can kill him if she has to. Buffy knows Angel being back is going to cause a lot of grief so waiting see if he's going to recover before telling people is understandable. Xander especially is seeing things through hate and jealousy.

Rey

Well I was hesitant to call on potentials for spoiler reasons

Domi E

Damn RJ! Great points and analysis!!! (As always!!) ❤️

Domi E

Faith sweetie :((( I wanna give her a hug that’s so sad I hadn’t thought about that side of things

Domi E

Hahahahah that’s quite a mood this ep! LOL

Domi E

Yeah totally agree with you! Really wish she would have reached out to Giles!

Rey

I think the gang has the right to know since Angel usually targeted them as Cordelia pointed out. Just because she is the slayer and has the power doesn’t mean anything, she would be dead without a team behind her. Many of her success is because of a team. And if the team was placed in potential danger as Giles stated, then they definitely should be in the know.

Domi E

Very true! My takeaway from this comment was that I could understand her going to Giles first, and he would ease her into the idea of telling the squad, but Giles def should have been the first person she comes to!

Dave Ford

Yeah, don't worry about how the watchers work. You're right, it makes no sense at all.

CeNedra

Yeah, I went off on a rant, it's my anger at Xander that set that off 🤣 I do think the gang should be told but other than Giles, Buffy should have told Faith as Slayer #2 she might have encountered him and wouldn't have known who he was and i think if Buffy had told Faith it would have brought her into the group more and once the others found out about Angel then having Faith in the know would have countered Xander's self righteous rant 😂

Domi E

Glad to know for once I don’t seem to be going completely insane!

Raven Dark

I also think that Buffy didn't tell the Scoobies or Giles out of genuine fear that they might do something to Angel. Hear me out. Angelus did torture him, and Giles did try to kill him (understandably so), and he isn't going to be Mr Understanding hearing that he's back. He might have assumed he was still bad and end up trying to hurt him if he isn't thinking straight. Which is why she didn't tell him. She couldn't tell Xander, because, he'd probably react the way he ended up reacting when he found out. Remember, in season two, he was the one who behaved as if Buffy shouldn't even try to save him, and that by wanting to, she didn't care about anyone else. She wouldn't have told Willow, because that would put Willow in the awful position of having to lie to Giles, and not only is Willow bad at lying (Lie to Me) but she just shouldn't be put in that situation. Plus she might feel like she has to tell Oz, and Buffy doesn't know how Oz would react at all. Oz might think he's doing the right thing by telling Giles because logic. She wouldn't tell Cordy, because although they get along better now, they aren't close, and again, she might feel she has to tell Xander, which would mean...well, Xander. I really don't think she would tell Faith. She doesn't completely trust her when it comes to Angel, because every time Angel comes up with Faith, it turns into an argument. Faith might feel like she's supposed to kill him to protect her from herself. Bottom line is, I don't think she felt she could really tell them without things going really badly. It's like she told the counciler, Platt, she can't tell them because they might do something. I think she meant do something to Angel. They might not understand or accept her helping him. But I also think that what you're saying is part of it too. Gah. It's all so complex, and I love it.

UTU49

Lie To Me is not as explosive as the other 2, but all 3 are very important episodes.

UTU49

I love 3x5 because it's light and fluffy. I love 3x6 because it's frickin hilarious. I love 3x7 because it's explosive. This is a pretty good show. :/

KT

Yeah I feel like by the end of the episode, after Giles has very clearly explained that she had a choice and she chose incorrectly, that Buffy is now straight up lying to Faith with that line. Buffy didn't come there to apologize, she came there to justify herself. She didn't owe Faith the truth per se, but she hasn't really demonstrated trustworthiness to Faith yet.

KT

It's good to finally have a Faith heavy episode after ep3. All of her scenes are really good and loaded with subtext, and not just the gay kind. Faith's demeanor is always so casual and carefree, but Eliza manages to make her feel apprehensive and guarded at the same time. It's interesting that she gets offended when Buffy declines to talk about Angel after Faith has just opened up about her own romantic history, and that she gets super angry when she realizes the reason is that Buffy is still seeing him (in Faith's eyes). Her reason to kill Angel can be easily explained by Xander being a petty manipulative prick, but her intense *desire* to kill him feels like it has to be at least partially motivated by something besides just him being a vampire. Namely, Buffy lying to her about him. It's all very complicated and juicy, and I can't wait for more!

FernWithy

Faith is supposed to be from South Boston, and her accent is actually pretty close to working class Southie. Not perfect, but better than a lot of attempts at it. I think the point of it, show-wise, is that it's a super clear class-marker (the accent tends to fade and disappear fairly quickly in the professional classes, but is common in blue and pink collar jobs) contrasting her with the relatively well-to-do Buffy and Willow and the rich Cordelia.

Ron Fehr

It's true that Buffy did not tell Giles about Angel being back, but remember that she did hint at it, when she told Giles about a supposed dream. I'm thinking that he may not have been as surprised as the others upon hearing Xander's news. Still, he was justified in reminding Buffy what Angelus had done to him.

R J Walker (FumblesMcStupid)

I agree with you that this was a huge reason when he first came back. I hate that Buffy lied to Giles in Beauty and the Beasts (because I hate it when any of them lie lol) but I understand why she did. Angel was feral, she got caught with books on Acathla, she came up with an excuse and then Giles mentioned Jenny and reminded Buffy that he's SO not over her. She obviously wanted to talk to somebody and it's a double tragedy that the counsellor was killed (because he also seems like a great character). I think it's the next episode when she tells Angel she's not telling them because they wouldn't understand and even then I get that. But I would say that as time goes on they don't seem to be discussing whether or not to tell anybody and are mostly spending their time doing Tai Chi, almost kissing etc so I think that it increasingly becomes Buffy not wanting to tell anybody. But like you say, it's complicated, which is great, and there are a LOT of reasons she doesn't want to say anything. Xander I COMPLETELY understand! Presumably Buffy still thinks Willow said 'kick his ass' but that she also tried the curse so Buffy must wonder what the heck all that was about so I get why it would be hard to bring it up to her. Faith, Cordy and Oz, no. I thought this morning that she could have talked to her mother. Joyce wasn't much affected directly, she doesn't know where Angel is and certainly wouldn't want to kill him. OK, Buffy is generally reluctant to discuss slayer stuff with her I suspect and obviously Joyce kicked her out in Becoming, but that was nothing to do with Angel. I'm not surprised she didn't talk to her mum but it was an option. However, I would say that she shouldn't have suspected that Giles would do something. OK, he did in Passion, but that was different. Significantly, in Becoming 1, Giles did not directly argue against bringing Angel back, even if I suspect that a part of him wasn't keen on the idea. There was no suggestion then that Buffy was worried that Giles would kill Angel the moment he saw him. OK, he was tortured after Becoming 1 but Jenny's death is the thing that set him off before so I don't see why Buffy would continue to be worried about Giles' reaction (beyond him being understandably upset). He has also always been extremely understanding and backed her decisions, particularly when it came to Angel. I don't disagree with you, fear is definitely an element of it but she COULD have moved Angel to a secret location and then told Giles. Even if he'd had a very bad reaction he wouldn't have known where to find Angel. Plus, by Revelations Angel is almost holding his own with Faith so he'd have no trouble with Giles if he wasn't taken unawares. Plus, Angel is evidently leaving the Mansion now. What would have happened if he'd bumped into Giles when Giles had a crossbow on him? I daren't think. I personally think Angel should have brought it up and that he's as much to blame. But given his reaction when Buffy mentioned Giles' name I think he's scared what Giles will do when he sees him. That I can understand tbh Angel knows all the details :( tldr fear of their reactions at first is strongest but, increasingly, not wanting to tell them takes over IMO

Domi E

Damn!! Both of you make absolutely great points!!

Domi E

Yep yep yep. And 3x08? Heartbreaking/outstanding/WOW

Domi E

Yes for sure I totally agree! Eliza is doing a great great job with Faith and I’m so excited to see more of her!!!

Domi E

That makes perfect sense! This just reminded me of Fred’s accent in Angel and how quickly it disappeared, guess I’ll be expecting the same haha

Domi E

Yeah totally, she def tried!

Ron Fehr

I totally agree with you. Xander can really piss us off sometimes.

R J Walker (FumblesMcStupid)

It's one great thing about Buffy, there are so many takes and generally merit to all sides...well, unless they don't like Jenny of course ;)

Bri

Fucking Xander. It might be his fault that Buffy even had to kill Angel. (If she'd known they were trying the spell again, she might've gone for a different battle strategy and stalled him from getting the sword out of acathla). Then this bullshit, messing with Faith's mind when he knew full well that Angel was back, not Angelus. I'm also more than a little mad at Giles- he should be getting anyone who claims an affiliation with the Council, he let Faith down here too. Plus, his outburst to Buffy, he really should have used 'i feel' - Buffy's confusion, pain and isolation on finding out Angel was back are separate from her respect for Giles and his position. It's understandable that he could feel this, but his feeling alone doesn't constitute reality. Often, when children hide painful situations from their parents, it's because they're afraid that they won't be allowed the autonomy and agency to deal with it in the way they need to. The trick if you're a parent/pastoral caregiver is to make sure enough agency/autonomy is developed enough during the little moments of childhood that they are aware of your respect for their agency and do they know they can come to you in the bigger moments, without fearing they're handing over the right to make decisions about the situation.

Domi E

Those are some good points I didn’t even take into consideration!

Rey

(1) Willow’s spell was always for if Buffy failed to stop or kill Angelus. They never knew it would work. Even if Buffy knew that Willow was trying, she could not stop Angelus and I can’t think of another strategy than fighting Angelus to stop him from removing the sword. (2) what Giles did was not an outburst. It was a lecture of how Buffy placed everyone in danger, she herself wasn’t sure what Angel was going to be like hence chaining him up and her even being fearful to go near him at the beginning. Even Domi was anticipating a negative reaction. And after a lecture from Post, Giles certainly had the right to feel that he wasn’t being respected as a Watcher based on the events that transpired. Giles had an inkling that Buffy was dealing with something that’s why he created that facade in episode 3 about using a spell, he allowed her autonomy to decide how to handle the pain and share it when she wanted it. This incident isn’t the time.

Domi E

Yeah for sure. Personally I think Giles had every reason for his mini outburst . But I also understand Briony’s POV!

Carl

This goes against popular opinion, but I don't understand the difficulty with separating Angel and Angelus. Especially for all those who watched Angel. You know who he is! I will say I still have a little less than half the last season of Angel to watch(because I really hate the direction the story and characters are going) but I can't imagine anything happening that would change my mind. Angel did NOT kill Jenny Calender or torture Giles or any of the other things ANGELUS did. That would be like holding Jenny Calender responsible for anything she did/might have done when that demon took over her body! Imagine having your body taken over by the most hideous of Demons. Then you re-enter that body but are cursed with all the memories and guilt of what that Demon did. THEN you are banished to a century in hell FOR THINGS YOU HAD ZERO CONTROL OVER! I would take Jenny's fate over Angels every time and it not a difficult choice. As far as the Buffy/Giles thing I don't think there is a right or wrong. Just a very unfortunate situation. I say that because if I was Giles I would have been just as hurt and felt just as betrayed. It's easy to say how Giles should feel or react not enduring the kind of torture he was subjected to. Beyond that it could definitely come off as a lack of trust on Buffy's part which would definitely hurt. On the flip side I would have handled it the same exact way if I was Buffy. She knew deep in her heart that the man she loved was back. Otherwise she wouldn't have unchained him. It makes sense that she would be hesitant to tell anyone especially Giles. She knew that everyone would think her judgement is clouded when it came to Angel. Yet when everything was on the line she put that sword through his chest, even knowing his soul was back! Feels good knowing that at least my extended 2 cents is out there! 🙃

Domi E

Yeah that makes perfect sense, the rational part of my brain reads it and totally agrees but it all flies out of the window once I see his face and am reminded of poor Jenny 😭But I’m def having an easier time separating both characters now. It’s a great point you bring up about Jenny’s fate being better because it’s sad but so true!

Effie

I don't have an issue separating either because it is not a Jekyll and Hyde situation....the soul was absent from the body at that time...it was only the demon left. The show makes it clear with the orb as well...it is external and then after the curse it disappears to represent the soul going into the body. As Angelus said, the soul is in the ether...and even if Angel's soul was present in the body, the evil is caused by the demon not him.

SK Elkins

That line made me *so mad* when this episode first aired. I remember just feeling livid over it. I was expecting an apology, and instead Buffy came out with that? Urrrrrrrgh.
