No time right now. I'll have to watch later. I think the reason this episode is titled "I Fall to Pieces" is because fans fall to pieces every time it comes to watching it. Fun fact: The actor who plays Ronald in this episode (Andy Umberger) also played a demon you saw at the beginning of Buffy season 3, episode 16, when Anya was trying to get her powers back.

Richard Ashton

He's also in Firefly. No horns and no bits dropping off, though.

Ron Fehr

Thanks for mentioning that fun fact, Steve. I had thought about mentioning that, but now I don't have to.

Ron Fehr

I hope that you're not opposed to the name Ronald because of the the doctor. I happen to like the name. Lol

UTU49

Hey! Check it out! It's everybody's favorite episode!

zerofk

"I would hire them, as long as they're cheap." What do you think the chances are that hiring Cordy would be cheap? :-P Quite a creepy episode this. The final fight with him just falling apart and flying dentures is a bit too silly though. It's nice to see Kate again. The way she looks at Angel seems rather suggestive.

Steve Quast

Yep. This is the cream of the crop for Angel. Might as well quit the series. It's all downhill from here.

UTU49

:)

When Cordy and and Angel were talking about steel boxes for 'packaging up people parts', my thoughts went directly to Jeffrey Dalmer (although he buried them).

Ron Fehr

When the doctor shot Angel with the dart, Angel must have had to do some acting. The stuff in the dart was meant to slow his heartbeat until it stopped. But Angel doesn't have a heartbeat, so he had to act like he did to get the doctor to think he was going to die.

Ron Fehr

I agree that defeating the doctor was too easy. My thought is that the episode was almost over so they needed to quickly solve the case at the end.

Steve Quast

Alright, I'm finally ready to view the episode. Now, I've surgically detached one of my hands and cast a spell on it so that, if I fall asleep while watching this episode, hopefully my hand will still be awake and able to slap me until I come to. (Hopefully I won't wake up in a coma)

Steve Quast

The cars are trying to save you from having to watch this episode, don't be too hard on them.

Steve Quast

What Ronald says: I take commitment pretty seriously. What everyone else hears: I take being committed pretty seriously.

Steve Quast

Angel acts like a creep. Ronald acts like a creep. Melissa goes to Angel for help. The secret to not being a creep: have cool hair styled by nancy-boy hair gel.

Steve Quast

Yeah there are some horror aspects to this episode. Ronald is kind of like a silly combination of John Carpenter's The Thing and the Thing from the Addam's Family.

I don't think Angel passing out was an act since the camera was all blurry and double-visiony. I assume the poison has more physiological effects than just stopping the heart which do affect Angel. Vampire anatomy makes no sense though, like how would poison even get circulated in your body if you don't have a functional circulatory system? These questions haunt my waking hours.

KT

Normally I put off watching reactions to this pretty cringe episode, but I think I'm always gonna be eager to watch yours because I know you're already completely sold on the show. Early Angel often has an undercurrent of "no I promise it's good just wait!" but you already know that so I can relax.

Ron Fehr

The reason that I thought it may just have been an act was because the doctor mentioned the effects of his serum, so Angel just needed to make it look like it affected him. However, the camera work done does give me cause to wonder.

This is way too close to body horror for me, and pretty daft too. Still, I decided to look at it from the perspective of what Buffy episodes it reminded me of. First off, The Judge, body parts in boxes buried apart (maybe he should send Buffy an arm in a box for her next birthday 😉). Stalking - coughAngelcough but also Angelus' torment of Buffy (I mean it's not like he's not broken in to a girl's bedroom and left her pictures smh). Bad eggs (the way those body parts were scuttling around) and also Puppet Show, the way Giles and Willow acted like they were scared of a spider is how I would react in this episode lol A bit like Some Assembly Required too and Ted (obsessed much?), I Only Have Eyes for you - oh, no, that's just the title ;) I also, I love how Cordy and Doyle thought that talking about something innocent was a brilliant plan when they thought there was a hand in the apartment....it's a HAND, not an ear! ;)

Rörd Hinrichsen

The serum did still temporarily paralyse Angel, but it didn't kill him, because it kills people by stopping their heart – which isn't possible when you don't have a beating heart to begin with.

Rörd Hinrichsen

Regarding the title of the next episode, it's based on the way ads for appartements in the paper used to be extremely abbreviated to save costs.

KT. I take all these issues and I sweep them under the carpet under the guise of "poetic license". Why is Angel affected by the drug... temporarily, when it would make just as much sense for him to be unaffected? If he's faking, then why? Is that really the best way of handling the situation? Answer: Because it's more interesting that way. If they took the time to make everything realistic and make sense, the show would take twice as long to make and be half as good. I just don't think it's worth the effort to make every single thing make sense.

Ron Fehr

UTU49 I agree. That is the best way to look at it (poetic license). Sure, there are questions, but it's a tv show and it needs to be entertaining.

UTU49

Hi friends (and Romans... and countrymen), lend me your ears... when they fall off. You've got to hand it to Ronald: he really knows how to keep his eye on the prize. This is a story you can really sink your teeth into. You can tell Ronald is a creep because he always has his eyes on your breasts... and he has wandering hands. Unfortunately he falls apart at the end.

UTU49

BTW... "Rm w/a Vu" means... "Rabid monkey with a vulnerable uvula".

Domi E

OMG so fun! I would never have recognized him!!

Domi E

Haha of course not!

Domi E

Okay cool, so we’re just watching Buffy from now on! Angel was cancelled y’all ;)

Domi E

Y’all actually have great points. I totally might have forgotten he doesn’t have a heart so I wasn’t too bothered by this plot hole hahaha

Domi E

HAHA. I really thought you’d say your hand would pause the episode for you. Slapping feels more extreme but I support it 😂And hey don’t worry, only Miss Cordy can do that!

Domi E

And have Cordy as a sidekick ;)

Domi E

Great comparisons!!

Domi E

Thank you! Makes a lot more sense haha

Domi E

Sounds like that’s true :P

UTU49

My brain is like a very large dog in that I don't always have full control of it. So sorry... :P

UTU49

"Bloke, you just jumped the shark." That's fair.
