Before even watching, I’m so happy. I love Cave Buffy, and I think this episode gets an unfair bad rap.

Richard Ashton

Parker was in it, so you're right about 'Reptile Boy'.

Steve Quast

Not a favorite episode of mine, but it does have two redeeming moments. The first is when Buffy hits Parker over the head. The second is when Buffy hits Parker over the head again.

Domi E

I thought it was so funny! Very unexpected haha

Domi E

For once in my life I wish I wasn’t right cause I hate this bitch but I don’t think Buffy writers have understood I DON’T WANT TO SEE HIM ANYMORE. Ever.

Domi E

My personal favorites!! Hahahaha. Totally agree!

Steve Quast

No no no, Buffy. You're supposed to let the vampires drag Parker away and murder the ever living crap out of him. I know this is not a real-life scenario, but geez! This episode should be called bad Buffy.

Steve Quast

#justiceforvampires #letvampiresdrinkevilpeople

Domi E

Agreed!! #FuckParker(Not literally, please..) #ParkerDeservesNoRights #KillParker

Steve Quast

Speaking of fantasy scenarios, what if Buffy had let the Master from season 1 live? Maybe he would have sent his disciples to kill Parker by now. Or maybe she shouldn't have stopped Acathla in season 2? Then everyone would be suffering an eternity in hell....including Parker. Or maybe she shouldn't have killed the Mayor right away after his ascension. Then she could hogtie Parker, flavor him with pepper and bbq sauce, place a sign on him saying "I hate Faith," and then FedEx him to the Mayor's office. So many ways she could have killed Parker....

Steve Quast

Okay, this douche just dumped on Xander for being a bartender, but then he opines that the world's problems can actually be solved with an excess of beer. Pick a lane, buddy.

Steve Quast

*Willow steps into the scene in a bad mood* Willow: Bored now.... *Willow spots Parker* Willow: Oh look. Someone to kill....

Steve Quast

So the beer basically causes them to de-evolve. So if they gave said beer to a sparrow, would it cause the bird to change into a tyrannosaurus rex? Just like the time wand in an episode of Red Dwarf?

Vicky N

This episode is reputed to be one of the worst of the whole show. Certainly one of the silliest. As usual with e show when there’s a lecture scene, it’s relevant to the plot. Professor Walsh was talking about the id principle, people being guided by their id, their basic hedonistic needs. That’s what happens in this episode.

Vicky N

I think you are reading way too much into Riley talking about his dead and contrasting with Parker. Parker’s dad died only a year ago or so. So it’s not enough to imply that he is the douchebag that he is because of a lack of a father figure.

Vicky N

Speaking of love triangle, did you say that Willow wasn’t interested in Xander in season one?

Veronika

I never understood why this episode has such a bad rep...I've always loved it just for the CaveBuffy hitting Parker scene :D CaveBuffy is awesome!

Steve Quast

"He keeps coming back" Yes, Parker is like a human manifestation of herpes.

R J Walker (FumblesMcStupid)

Not my fav but SMG is great as CaveBuffy and obviously bonking Parker over the head twice is gold. And Xander comes good in this one :D Willow is being supportive friend. And Oz...let's not speak of it! And Giles sets Xander straight - the Satan groove was the early 70's Xander, get your facts right! lol In fact, my highlights are each time Buffy interacts with the scoobies, Willow and the misunderstanding over what Buffy had been doing with 4 guys the night before, Xander and him smelling nice, Giles fearing for his life when he tries to cut her off :D You're kinda right about why not much Giles sometimes (although in this episode he would have stepped in too soon and nothing would have happened), since the beginning they tried to give him light episodes sometimes and a helpful schedule so that he could go home to see his family 🥺

HuntingSwan

Wow Domi, you managed to fit a Jenny mention into Beer Bad? You are simply amazing! ;)

Shaun Houghton

He picked a lane, he's the drinker, not the server. If he can't respect others life choices, he should at least be smart enough not to give crap to those handling his beer.

UTU49

I think this episode is hilarious. It's just so gleefully silly. So many extremely entertaining little bits.

Steve Quast

"he should at least be smart enough not to give crap to those handling his beer." Exactly. lol

I love how in TV shows what the teacher says in class is always relevant to the episode. In real life classes are so very rarely immediately relevant. There are some gratifying moments in this one but overall it's not my cup of tea. Some guys that we've never seen before turning into cavemen is not an interesting monster-of-the-week. Buffy also changing is fun for a while but doesn't really offer that much. And there is precious little interaction between the characters we care about.

Ron Fehr

Possibly the only reason that we kept seeing him was to show that getting over someone takes time. That's what I'm thinking anyway.

Ron Fehr

Personally I liked it just because we got to see caveslayer Buffy.

Ron Fehr

While I agree that Parker is a scumbag, and deserves to suffer for his behavior, my upbringing tells me not to think that way. I realize that this is not a popular opinion, but I just needed to say it.

Ron Fehr

One of my favorite scenes is when Xander warns Giles not make caveslayer Buffy unhappy.

Lee Wilcock

It's gratifying to see that there seems to be crossover between Buffy and Dwarf fans.

Domi E

Yeah that actually makes a lot of sense!!

Lee Wilcock

Haven't seen reaction yet so don't know if you notice that the girl Veruca. who was singing in the Bronze, is the same girl that Oz made eye contact with in episode 2. Just remembered that from previous watches. Also Willow was awesome drawing Parker in making him think his technique was working on her, just to call him out calling him Id boy.

Svetlana Grabar

Also we don’t know that Parker’s dad actually died. I just assumed he was lying tbh.

Nicholas Corgan

Not every episode has to be a Passion or Prophecy Girl. This episode has definitely grown on me with that mindset, just some goofy fun.

Raven Dark

Oh, Domi, Domi, Domi. Haven't you figured it out yet? The show completely gets that you don't want to see him anymore. That's the point. The show lives to make you, Domi, suffer. SMH. :D Okay, seriously, I agree with Ron, we keep seeing Parker as a way of showing us that getting over someone takes time. But also perhaps that when we have a bad breakup with a jerk, it's all too common for said jerk to keep popping up, making it even harder to get over them.

FernWithy

The episode, if taken seriously, is terrible. But it was made to try and cash in on government money for anti-alcohol programming... only they could NOT keep the tongues out of their cheeks, and as a parody of pious anti-alcohol episodes, it's flipping hilarious.

Ron Fehr

I'd Boy almost sounds, to me, like a name for a superhero's sidekick. Lol

Lee Wilcock

What's the superhero called Egoman or Super Egoman?

Domi E

Fair point Raven, I just wish the Buffy writers weren’t out to get Miss Buffandra and I 😭😭

Domi E

LMAO. Great points Steve I think we should sign up Parker for all of these!

Domi E

YUP. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT.

Domi E

I love when her lectures connect to the plot somehow!!

Domi E

I might have??? But she def was haha sometimes I say things and then when I’m editing I’m like oh no why did I say that LOL

Domi E

Yeah I probably am reading into it😂

Domi E

Oh that’s so sweet I had no idea. I love that 🥺

Domi E

Thank you thank you 😎It’s a talent hahahaha

Domi E

Yeah that seems to be a somewhat popular opinion! To me cavebuffy makes it all worth it!

Domi E

OH DAMNNN… So that really was her?! Dammit.

Thom Purdy

This plot was written with the plan to take advantage of funds from the Office of National Drug Control Policy available to shows that promoted an anti-drug message. Funding was rejected for the episode because "drugs were an issue, but ... [it] was otherworldly nonsense, very abstract and not like real-life kids taking drugs. Viewers wouldn't make the link to [the ONDCP's] message.

Thom Purdy

I love the name "Buffandra".

The Value of Life

Not a popular one for a lot of people, but I love this ep. Cave Buffy is awesome, Parker getting some payback is awesome, but what really got me was Willows convo with Parker. The first time I saw this I was not only worried about where Willow was going with Parker, I was worried about where the writers were going with the story. I was getting the vibe that the message of the episode was going to be "Everyone has to chose for themselves what they believe is right and wrong. Who is to say that Parker's view is wrong and Buffy's it right?" I was thinking "Willow, please don't fall for this" but at the same time thinking "Writers, please don't take this where I think you're taking this." When we finally got to Willow's "How gullible do you think I am?" I was so relieved on both levels. In universe: "Thank God Willow's not falling for this" and in RL "Thank God the writers weren't going there." I almost think Willow's line was directed at us, the audience, as much as at Parker, "C'mon viewers, did you really think I was being fooled by Parker's spiel? How gullible do you all think I am?"

Domi E

Damn, that’s really interesting. At least they tried!!

Domi E

I’m sure Joyce appreciates that you like it ;)

Domi E

Yup so true. And she really got me!!!

UTU49

Quality comment, Steve.

UTU49

Well, Buffy's full name is Buffy Anne Drama-Addict Summers... so really Buffandra is just short for Buffy Anne Drama-Addict. Right?

UTU49

Great comment, TVOL.

UTU49

Buffy's initials are BADAS.

Loves Bitca

Why is Parker always around? Accurate to life. The person you don't want to see, you keep running into.

Loves Bitca

Not a popular episode to many fans, but I love it. It's fun. Cave Buffy is hilarious. And I love that the "cavemen" run from "fire bad" or "fire angry" on a primal level. Buffy says "Fire Bad" and runs towards it. Buffy is still in there. She still instinctively runs to danger to try to help.

Loves Bitca

Domi said "Both of them weren't interested in Xander" which confused me at first too. Willow clearly was, but it sounds like which of them weren't interested in him? Both of them. But I guess she meant Both of them weren't interested, Only Willow was, not both.

Loves Bitca

Yet I've seen a lot of people like that. They look down on people in service industries while relying on those services.

Loves Bitca

Yeah whether his father really died or not, he's just using it as sensitive pick up line.

TheMew

Yeah I would say this one is a guilty pleasure of mine. I've always thought it was pretty funny.
