"I convinced myself that we were never going to see Buffy and Angel in the same room together." I'm sure this episode didn't help.

Domi E

NOT AT ALL!! The frustration this episode gave me... I WAS SO PISSED OFF!!

Ron Fehr

I think they may be trying (I stress trying) to move away from love. At least Angel is, proven by why he didn't want Buffy to see him.

Veronika

Oh, Domi :( I was so freaking excited for this reaction but I'm so sorry for what these writers are putting you through :( I will personally hunt them down for this! They will need really good lawyers and I don't think wolfram&heart will help :D I totally understand your frustration, because this episode pisses me off every time! But apart from the Bangel pain, I really enjoy their take on thanksgiving in television. I know a lot of people don't like the execution and I understand it has its flaws but I think the idea has to count for something. The writers were ahead of their time (but we will still destroy them for playing with our feelings like this :D)...Anyway...Loved your reaction sooo much! <3

Ryan Powers

I have to admit to chuckling to myself every time you mentioned looking forward to the upcoming bangel scenes in this episode. Does that make me a bad person?

Anitusar

I apologize for the sirens, but I got really worried for the Buffy-Writers midway through. :) Sorry, domi, for getting "tortured", but I really loved your reaction to this one.

Steve Quinn

They can't continually revive Bangel or neither character would be able to move on.

Ron Fehr

Just finished watching the episode with you. The writers sure disappointed you, didn't they? Yes, Angel was there, but never with Buffy. I liked your comments. "Where's Angel ", said repeatedly. And you were really upset at the end, when Angel just walked away. And what about Xander's slip-up right at the end? Oops.

Richard Ashton

Willow asks Buffy in S1E1 if she's seen the new librarian, who could be from The British Library. Perhaps not new to the US, but definitely moved in to Sunnydale High to be Buffy's watcher right from the start.

Effie

When you were so excited for a Bangel reunion I wanted to give you a hug....yes what they did was incredibly cruel but at least the story continues....cannot wait for Angel :))

zerofk

Ah Pangs. As someone who doesn't particularly like Angel's stalkery ways this one just makes him just look even worse. The Native American angle is also somewhat foreign to me; and I don't feel it's handled very well anyway. Next to that Willow's inability to see Giles' standpoint (and vice versa to some extent) is just bleh. And I also don't like Spike being this pathetic. He used to be scary. Seeing Harmony again was fun though.

Domi E

They’re trying but Bangel is too strong❤️

Domi E

Haha, thank you V!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it 😁

Domi E

Maybe Ryan… Maybe…. 🤪Just kidding. I laughed at myself when editing so I had to make a counter for the YouTube version. I get it.

Ron Fehr

That's true.

Domi E

Haha. Bro…. If the next episode wasn’t as brilliant as it is, these writers would be in DEEP SHIT!

Domi E

Well… Yes. But counter offer Steve: What if they just do it anyways?

Domi E

Ahhh, so much frustration this episode haha!

Domi E

Oh yes, thank you!!

Domi E

Can’t wait to share it!! And can’t wait for that hug 😄

Domi E

YOU DIDN’T LIKE SPIKE? This was my favorite episode of his so far, it was just SO FREAKING FUN!! So I’m offended right now. I trusted your taste zero!!!! And you let me down!!!!

zerofk

Well I have to have one flaw right, nobody's perfect.

Zak

this episode has one great element.....more Spike than previous episodes

Foamy

Spike stans love this one, and I do to. I watch it nearly every Thanksgiving.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

If it makes you feel any better it kinda killed me watching you get all hype before starting knowing how it plays out. Also Sunnydale sure does seem to have a lot of empty space underneath it ⛏️😬😆

Raven Dark

Ohhh, does this mean we're getting the next episode of Angel today, too!? We won't complain!

UTU49

Sooo... yeah. If you've got your heart set on seeing Buffy and Angel together after not seeing them together since 3x22... then this episode functions as a prank perpetrated by the writers. I found it a very strange and interesting, half-assed cross-over. I hope you can rewatch and enjoy this episode in the future because this episode is really really fun if you're not stricken with your Bangel "pangs". Yay!! I organically managed to use the word "pangs" while talking about the episode "Pangs".

Domi E

It's great! Now you've totally made me wanna watch it in Thanksgiving too!!

Domi E

Haha, it really was painful!

Domi E

I'm sorry but no :( I was just pre-recording since I haven't had time to record for the last month!

Domi E

Hahaha. It really was quite a prank! And yes I def have to watch the episode without being all up in the Bangel feels.

Raven Dark

Oh well. I love you anyway, Domi, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching your Bangel heart suffer, so you can look at making me wait as your revenge. LOL!

Dave Ford

Bwahahaha - Okay enough with the schadenfreude. Sorry, but that was a lot of fun watching watching you ramp up your expectations for the first 30 mins knowing they were going to be dashed. I quite enjoy this one - Buffy's obsessive dinner preperations which are boarding on the bullying offer a fun counterpoint to what could be a fairly morbid serious plot.

Molly Willis

I loved the point you made about Buffy becoming more lenient about letting certain evil types live, it's a really important distinction in the universe that tells us a lot about Buffy's character. She's committed to her job, sure, but from all the way back in season one she talked about wanting to remain her squishy human side. You have to be fairly ruthless on the inside to just kill things without being provoked or having a reason in the moment and Buffy's not a ruthless person. It's definitely a line she's always toed but you're right, they are starting to blur the lines for the audience. It's so sweet that you're touched by us all watching Buffy with you. It's one of the great joys of the Buffy fandom to see someone experience all the twists and turns for the first time. I binged it all last spring but I knew several spoilers and stumbled upon some more while I was watching so I missed out on the impact of some of the big WTF moments. It's exciting for me to see someone see them for the first time! And I think the more rabid Buffy fans among us get a kick out of helping to indoctrinate the next generation hahaha

Jordan Haddow

Ugh. I really hate Patreon's outdated web technology. I had written up a nice long (shocking, I know) little comment as this episode really has a lot going on in it I hit post, it pops up on the comment list for part of a second then poof. Gone. This site just lost it. Ugh. Anyways good reaction. Looking forward to your next. Hopefully this will actually stick long enough to be read.

Samiah

Thank YOU for going on this journey with us!

madfem

we're very happy to watch this with you too (sappy) Domi :DDD

Ron Fehr

I wonder if Nicholas Brendon did some working out prior to his digging scene at the beginning of the episode. I know some actors do it when they know they'll be shirtless in front of the camera.

Steve Quast

Domi's going to sue the writers, count number 18,486. By the time you're done with them, their grandchildren are going to need lawyers. Spike is definitely the best part of this episode. "A bear! You made a bear! Undo it! Undo it!" Which I'm sure parallels your main complaint to the writers: "You didn't have Buffy meet Angel! You made an atrocity! Undo it! Undo it!" I really enjoyed your discussion about what you think may happen later in the show. Obviously I can't spoil anything, but I can't wait to watch you react to everything else the Buffyverse has to offer, as there are still a lot of amazing things to come. PS Of course we're here watching your video for the full hour and 20 minutes. If anything the time goes by too fast. We love you, too.

Steve Quast

"I loved the point you made about Buffy becoming more lenient about letting certain evil types live" I liked that, too. That was a good insight.

Bud Haven

Two of my favorite moments in the show were when Buffy says, I like my evil like I like my men-evil. :D Also when Buffy tells Spike he has to wait to eat, she gives him a little pat on the head. It was kinda sweet... with Spike.

Steve Quast

If you think about it, Buffy had the first Slapsgiving.

Domi E

Aw thank you Raven ❤️

Domi E

I’m glad my suffering continues to be entertaining 😂And yep, it was a really different side of Buffy for sure!!

Domi E

Aw thank you, you’re so sweet Molly! And this comment makes me love Buffy even more oh my god SHE IS AMAZING, and I love that she’s always changing for the better.. THATS MY GIRL ❤️

Domi E

I’m sorry Jordan, Patreon really sucks sometimes I’m not gonna lie. I tried checking my email to see if I got a notification for your other comment but unfortunately it didn’t go through on my side :( But hey thanks! Can’t wait to share the next one!!

Domi E

Thank YOU for going on it with ME, Samiah!!!!

Domi E

🥺🥺You’re the sweetest as always, merci!!

Domi E

Good point!! I’m sure he must have!!

Domi E

Aw thanks so much Steve, and hey.. If it only reaches the grandchildren I haven’t done my job properly. We must WRECK all of the generations of kids of each of these writers, muahaha (this is my evil laugh. did i take it too hard this time?)

Domi E

So freaking funny, I love these little moments!

Domi E

OMG! This reference! I love it haha

Steve Quast

I agree. We must make them all suffer.

Ron Fehr

Did you see Spike's face in the final shot? When Xander let slip that Angel had been there. I noticed a slight grin of delight on Spike's face, as if anticipating Buffy's reaction to the news. Also, he enjoys seeing her caught off guard.

Ron Fehr

How is your law suit against the Buffy writers coming along? Lol

Jeffrey

Half-ass internet research: In both movies and TV shows, actors are expected to take the necessary steps to make sure their body type fits the character they play. As with any acting role, the television execs behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer expect their actors to look the part. Which is why Nicholas Brendon was told first hand by producers that he needed to stop working out while filming, because they did not want Xander to look "too buffed." While Brendon never looked huge enough to ever be acquainted to being "buff," there were some shirtless scenes that he filmed over the course of the show -- specifically during the "Go Fish" episode of season two -- that Nicholas Brendon did look a little muscular. A little too muscular, in fact, to be believed as a scrawny, socially inept nerd on the Scoobie team.

Domi E

He’s so evil haha, I freaking love him!

Domi E

It’s long… But it’s going 😝

Domi E

Haha, it’s so hilarious that they had to ask him to stop. I really thought his body this episode was even better than Go Fish though, so I’m surprised that’s the episode they reference!

Loves Bitca

But the fact that Xander actually had a good body once it was revealed was a point they actually purposely made in Go Fish. And it makes sense with him working construction now instead of hot dog on a stick, that he'd be getting into even better shape naturally.

UTU49

I have to watch that, lol! Your Pangs reaction and your I Will Remember You reactions were extremely entertaining... and emotional too.

R J Walker (FumblesMcStupid)

Firstly, your confidence in your Bangel moment at the start...oh dear :/ Anyway, I'm going to steer clear of discussing the stereotypes and the stuff I agree with you totally on about not handling certain things well at all. I have a very love-hate relationship with this episode. It's so freaking funny and sweet for the most part, but... I also agree with you that Angel not telling Buffy he's there is bullshit, particularly at the end. His ENTIRE reason is that it would distract her and make things more dangerous. SO WHAT ABOUT AFTER THE DANGER IS GONE?? IS HER COOKING TOO DANGEROUS TOO??? Bullshit Angel. I guess it's just for the story line but it comes over as him trying to protect himself from his emotions (which, fair enough I guess) but don't give me this 'I don't want to distract her'... from what? her mashed potatoes?!?! And I am so glad you love Anya, so do I 😍 Also, what do you mean 'can they un-invite a vampire? Have you forgotten Passion so quickly, smh ;) Speaking of which...Giles and Angel's conversation actually breaks my heart. I LOVE the fact that they both want to protect Buffy BUT that reminds me of how they could have been such good friends. And, whilst it is a small step forward that Giles doesn't seem to have resorted to a cross bow, I really don't read it as him being over Jenny at all. As Buffy is leaving Giles looks relaxed, the moment she's gone he shoves his hands in his pockets and tenses up as Angel walks behind him. In the entire scene Giles can hardly look at Angel. He briefly glances at him when he's angry about Angel telling him it's 'not his job either', very briefly when the priest's name is mentioned and only looks at him for more than a second at the end when he's angry that Angel isn't telling Buffy he's in Sunnydale. The rest of the time he looks anywhere EXCEPT at Angel. He's very guarded and tense IMO I mean, it's all interpretation, but all this seems like a very deliberate choice on ASH's part so that is always how I've read that scene, and it makes me very sad :'(
