One hour of pure crying, it's so embarrassing but this episode is literally PERFECT. After rewatching I can say with more certainty, this is my favorite episode we have seen in the Buffyverse so far.

PS: I am indeed NotACrier™ so please look away. My allergies are strong this week...... That's all............

I must say, though, that, overall, I dislike the spin-off and there are only a few episodes (mostly crossover like this one) that are REALLY worth watching IMO. So yes, I'm glad I finally got to see them ("5 by 5"!!!😭🤎) but I still think I could've done without the 90% of the show. And I'm still pissed that, overall, we go much more Spuffy than Bangel interactions in the main show!X-[ Also... ANGEL&CORDELIA???!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!!🤬💢

BTW: I think I forgot to mention this in the video cause I was a bit shaken up but the reason I was sure Buffy wouldn’t appear in this episode is cause I remember this one episode of Angel where “Buffy” was in but SMG didn’t want to appear so I assumed she never did any episodes of Angel at all.

That was just a scheduling/ family issue thing for SMG. in that same season she may have shown up but there is an interview from producers saying she was never going to be in the one with the double it was part of the joke of the ep not seeing her. But there was suppose to be someone else show up in that ep but not sure if I should say who due to spoilers.

I found it fascinating to compare your reaction to this episode with Alley Box. She was far more 'been there, done that, let's move on". Yet she finds areas of the plots fascinating that you are less keen on. I think it is a huge credit to the characters of the Buffyverse that they offer such a variety of storylines that there is literally "something for every taste". I myself love anything where SMG gets to show her acting chops.

I am a Bangel guy as well, so this one always pulls on my heart strings. SMG knocked it out of the park this episode. A well known blooper in this ep, is that Angel calls Buffy Sarah at the end, at 45:26 on your video, just as they are about to hug again, you can barely hear him say it, but you can, JUST, and you can see his mouth move saying "Sarah, please". David Boreanaz got so caught up in Sarah's awesome performance that it drove him to tears and he called her Sarah.

When Angel throws salt at the demon, I wish it was Cordy doing it since she has been providing the salty comments throughout the episode to balance the sweetness.

Oh Domi, when you were tearing up at Buffy's appearance before the credits rolled I knew we were in for an emotional one! Your analysis was on point as usual. Joss is a BIIIIIIG Shakespeare fan and Buffy/Angel definitely give me that level of tragic romance, with a gothy modern vampire twist. I'm borrowing heavily from Passion of The Nerd here (who is brilliant but should probably be avoided until you've finished both series) but I actually love that Joss resists giving his characters a fairytale "happy ending" because life always goes on even after that perfect moment, symbolised here through the clocks/time motif throughout the episode. However, Joss has also said that Buffy/Angel is the grandest love story he will ever tell and I think even he wanted to give them as much of a happily ever after as he could. This regularly makes top ten lists for best Angel episodes so as good as this is, know there's a lot more of this calibre yet to come!

Domi, I'm so glad this episode meant so much to you. People who don't like Bangel... sometimes aren't into this episode. Some of the hardcore Bangel fans on the other hand, are sometimes so mired in sadness, despair, and anger, that it isn't an experience they want or appreciate. I watched Buffy all the way through without watching all of Angel. A couple of years after finishing Buffy, I finally bought Angel on DVD... and I was astounded that this episode existed. But of course, I didn't know about this episode, because you never see any trace of the existence of this episode on Buffy. You can't, of course, because...

Whomever that may be. Except for Angel. I don't want it to be Angel." Um... This is the problem i have with Bangle, Sarah is an amazing actor and David is not even close. Literally every actor on the screen in any scene is acting rings around David. When Sarah runs him through with a sword at the end of season 2 Buffy, I cried for her but was happy that he was finally gone. Season 3 was not a happy surprise.

I’m glad I missed it (at least I don’t remember it). I saw some episodes back in the day, but don’t remember very much of it. Buffy had my heart and full attention and this episode does not improve my opinion of Angel.

I don't want to speak for Steve Quinn, but what I got from their comment was that if there are people who aren't as interested in Buffy/Angel as a couple (like Alley, and frankly, like myself), that there are reactors and viewers who can find other things to enjoy about it and they are crediting the 'verse for providing that. I liked Alley's reaction, but I also liked Domi's and Van's. It's interesting to me to see what different people get out of the same episodes.

David doesnt have the emotional range Sarah has. But not many TV actors do. David was a model who was cast in a TV show who had to learn to act, where as Sarah had been acting in commercials since she 5 years old. David does very well especially in later seasons when he starts to hone his craft.

Absolutely. I love watching Domi, I also love watching Alley. Although they can often come at the shows from different angles, I find them both intelligent, articulate and engaging. And if all reactors reacted identically there would really be little point in watching more than one, would there?

I just read all (or most) of the comments. It made me think about my first impression of you, Domi, and how completely wrong it was. I saw you as this super chill, even-tempered young woman. I had no idea how much you were going to end up loving the characters. I had no idea how much emotional impact the shows were going to have on you. I liked your videos when I thought you were super chill... and I like your videos now that I have a much fuller picture of how fully you are engaging with these shows and these characters. I would like you to consider spending my donations on Gatorade, so that you won't get dehydrated if some future episode has a strong emotional impact on you. ;) TTYL!

Domi, SMG is a massive Bangel fan...I'm sure she would have appeared if she could. If I remember correctly she couldn't come for the episode they wanted her in but she said she could be there for the finale but the producers didn't want the focus on Buffy for the finale. It's a real shame that happened :(

David may not have had the emotional range but I thought he did great in the heartbreaking scenes in 'Becoming' and as Angelus as well.

Dont get me wrong, I am not dissing him as an actor, I love Angel as a character and as a series and I think he carries it great. Just that when it comes to TV acting, and heartwrenching scenes, SMG is one of the GOATs.

Domi, this was the most satisfying reaction ever! Your joy at the beginning, the tears....I've been there and it still hurts. This episode solidified for me that Bangel are soul mates. If there weren't all these obstacles they would be together and that really hurts. It hurts even more that Angel has to carry that but at least someone remembered I suppose. By the way I laughed so hard when you called the demon Shrek! 😂

This episode still makes me cry. I honestly cry every single time I see it. This episode is definitely one of the very best. I love Buffy and Angel so much. This episode killed me. It was beautiful and absolutely heartbreaking. Buffy and Angel really are soulmates. That love is a forever love. Just a little side info- SMG is a massive Bangel fan (which I love lol). Her not really being in many episodes wasn't about her not wanting to be on the show. I loved your reaction- it was genuine. I'm sorry that you cried so much lol. But don't worry, you were definitely not alone with all your tears :)

You are definitely thinking about how SMG declined to appear in season 5 of Angel after Buffy the show wrapped up the year before she had moved on from the character (if you listen to Alyson Hanigan SMG had been ready to move on for years to star in movies). I like this episode but I never got into the Buffy/Angel relationship. It feels so “first boyfriend, teen romance” to me. It was like this love at first sight thing and mostly over the top melodramatic. Angel existed on Buffy just as a device to forward Buffy’s storylines but didn’t have his own relationship. I’m fact, I never much cared for Angel on Buffy. But I love him on Angel. The relationships that he develops with the rest of the Angel Investigation team are really great. And honestly I’m firmly in the Angel/Cordy > Angel/Buffy camp. Great reaction though.
