78 days without Cordelia...how did you survive? While it's true Angel does get better past season 1, I still really like season 1. I like it better than the 4th season of Buffy. Not bad for a starter season imo.

Somnambulist means sleep walker. Think of Insomnia meaning cannot sleep, and ambulatory which means to move.

Pretty much everyone threatened to kill Angel this episode. Not just Kate lol.

Fuckie is now my favourite swear :) I remember being deeply disturbed by the implication that Angelus was so close to the surface when I first saw this (still am, but ykwim) I do like the inclusion of Wesley but I know what you mean, it feels like the characters don't have enough time to deal with Doyle being gone.

I rather like this episode. There's Kate, and there's a charismatic bad guy. I agree with Kate about not inviting Angel into her apartment. There's plenty of places where they can talk without having to take that risk. The way Kate staked Penn through Angel is so badass.

When Penn asked "you know it's name?", not "you know her name?" it was a great subtle touch, clearly he was thinking of Kate as a thing (presumably a meal) rather than a person & appeared surprised & concerned that his former mentor didn't - which also gives an extra insight into Angelus. Going through these again I'm seeing so many things that were pretty clearly influences on the Dresden Files. Oh, and you say that based on what you remember those 3 are really good friends? Nope, they're not friends, they're family :)

It looks like Kate and Angel's relationship is gonna be different than what he has with Buffy. Firstly, Kate is obviously older, and views thiings more differently than Buffy. Secondly, Angel never told Kate about his soul being restored. Which makes me wonder how she would have reacted upon finding out. And finally, it looks like Kate is more focused on her job, and may not be looking for romance.

I never got an email 😭 but that means I get to watch it now instead 😁😍

It seems to me like your microphone doesn't pick up much of the background noise, because I don't notice it unless you mention it. But it's nice that you're concerned about it. It was basically the same with your coffee stain. I only actually noticed it only if I was looking for it.

Nice that being multilingual helped you understand the title of this episode, no one ever has even the slightest clue what it could mean haha Yeah I think some of the time, the flashbacks are there to add to the themes of the episode more than the plot, which can feel a little "what was the point of that" the first time or even the first few times you watch an episode. Like even some of the ones in Becoming Pt 1 were primarily to enrich the tragedy of the events in Becoming Pt 2, but they don't actually move those events forward (not saying that's a bad thing, I think those flashbacks are very successful). I think every flashback is important for building Angel's character overall, but their value is not always readily apparent. The ones in this episode though, they add really nicely to the plot and the themes and to Angel's character.
