PS: I will be recording my s4 q&a today, as soon as I'm done watching the finale, so you still have a chance to leave your questions in my pinned post (click HERE) if you have something you want me to discuss! :)

Great reaction, especially your after-show analysis. A couple of things. It didn’t take Riley “a long time” to give up on the Initiative. Maybe it has taken them *all* a long time to, but Riley is phoning in his kills with Buffy right there beside him. And they’re all still going to parties thrown by the house where the Initiative is housed. Nobody has thought that the whole Initiative should be shelved at this point – really until this episode, which, as you said, is the turning point. But it really is for them all. Riley just had a bigger decision to make. And Riley’s anti-demon bias – sometimes I even think the writers have trouble remembering this – when the show began, this is how all the protagonists felt. Buffy’s frustration with Riley’s ignorance is actually the problem. Of course, he thinks what he thinks. His learning curve was actually a lot shorter than anybody else’s in the show. He saw Oz in that cage and he was converted to the whole demons not necessarily bad understanding, immediately. Buffy had not shared this side of things with him. He had had no reason to see it. And when Oz tells Willow that “it turns out the one thing that brings [the wolf] out in me is you,” he wasn’t blaming her. He was simply stating the truth. He didn’t indicate it was her fault. As he says, it “falls under the heading of ironic in my book”. He loves her. There is not an either/or scale of blame to assign – sometimes bad things happen where no one is to blame. I think the point is along the lines of a short featurette made about the show: “Love Bites”. We see it again and again in the Whedonverse.

So Domi, your Oz prediction was an episode early. It was so tempting to say something when you spoke about it last time.

madfem

I definitely think the writers wrote this episode with you and you only in mind 😉 🤩 can't wait to watch later

Steve Quast

This definitely sounds like one of Domi's introductions. Good job, little sis!

Steve Quast

"This is driving me insane." Don't worry. I can't tell the difference.

Richard Ashton

Domi: I need to sit down and breathe. So - channelling Willow from S1E2. <3

Lunarwind

OH, this is gonna be sooooooo good.

GenU

Well, Domi, looks like lil' sis can pinch hit for you if you ever need a vacation. Certainly the cute factor is high.

x_Rhi_x

Eeeee great reaction lol. Tillow is official! ♡

Anitusar

Great reaction. But maybe make sure someone is around you while recording in the future. I think someday you need somebody to pick you up from the ground and put you back in the chair.

Bri

This reaction gave me joy. Tillow forever!

zerofk

Well that did not disappoint :-D Your sister looks a lot like you. And that prediction... "Buffy isn't evil... yet." Now I'm scared. The handholding at the start of the episode always makes me melt. They're just so cute.

Veronika

I don't even know what to say...this was just the perfect reaction and it just made my day...thank you sooo much! I was kinda hoping you would stop expecting Oz since you thought he would be back last episode so that when he showed up, you would be surprised and you were! You chose the perfect episode for your beautiful earrings! We're here...Tillow is finally official!

Khanach

Good thing you're not a werewolf, because the keeping your cool thing might need some extra work XD And check out Domi the Next Generation! I was just listening to the audio at the beginning and she fooled me for a while. Good job! :)

I'm pretty sure, almost positive that Willow knew and understood her feelings long before this. In the previous episode when Domi said she felt Willow was making a move, I'm pretty sure that moves had been made long before then. All the time that Willow was keeping Tara a secret, was when she had already understood her feelings for Tara but wasn't ready to be out or talk to her friends about it. It was something she just wanted that was just hers, but she knew it was more than friendship. They were already a romantic lesbian couple, and had had 'relations' though likely hadn't discussed yet whether it was being in love, as strong of a relationship as she had with Oz.........

Raven Dark

OMG, I'm so dumb today. LOL When I saw your sister and heard her, for a few seconds I was sitting there thinking, why does Domi sound so weird?? Not that your sister sounds weird, but it was really freaky when I thought her voice was coming out of your mouth. It took me way too long to realize she wasn't you. LMAO I agree with Kevin Brown, I don't think Ox was being homophobic in the scene with Tara, or that he was putting blame on Willow in the van scene. In the scene with Tara, he was reacting to the scent of Willow on someone else because it meat she was seeing someone else. Had Tara been male, he would have had the same reaction. I actually love the way he asked if they were involved and if Tara was in love with her, because he asked it exactly the same way he would have if Tara was male. I love that gender didn't play a role in it at all, and the show treated what was happening with Willow and Tara just like any other romantic relationship. That tells me Oz doesn't care that they're gay. It's only the idea of Willow being with someone that is not him that triggered him. And in the van scene, when he said "It turns out that the only thing that brings the wolf out in me is you," he just meant that the wolf coming out is emotion-based, and the idea of Willow with someone else is the only thing that sets him off. Someone else said it was a good thing you aren't a werewolf, because keeping your cool in this episode would have been an issue, and it made me think that's a good comparison for what Oz was getting at. If you were a werewolf, Willow and Tara would make you wolf out. That doesn't mean they are doing anything bad. It just means they get your emotions running extra high because your passion for them is so intense. I've heard the occasional person say that Buffy was being homophobic in this episode too, but that's not what was happening there at all. As she said to Riley, she was just thrown. It took her a bit to adjust to something she isn't used to, and, to her, probably seemed to come out of left field. She recovered though, and then handled it exactly the way a friend should. I thought the coming out talk with Buffy was brilliantly handled. I also love the subtle touch of Willow cuddling the huge doggy teddybear while she was talking about her and Tara. Some great visual storytelling to show us Willow's conflict. This episode is so special, and I've been waiting for you to react to it, it feels like forever. LOL You did not disappoint. This is my favorite reaction from you so far, Domi. And I've been waiting to say this since Wild At Heart, since the whole mess with Veruca. As heartbreaking as this show can sometimes be, when something terrible happens in this show, that's usually when something truly wonderful is just around the corner.

Raven Dark

Ugh. Oz. Sorry, I can't correct that, because when I try to edit, Patreon has a habit of eating comments, so I'll just have to leave it and look like I'm calling him Ox. Sigh.

CeNedra

Desperately tries to click on reaction before my naughty eyes read too much of Domi's comments. I like my reaction to reactions unspoiled but my eyes will wander 🤭👀🙄🙄

CeNedra

Had to run back to comment on the PhD in Vampire... so f****** funny 😂😂 all of us too 😁

CeNedra

Sorry.. don't mean to spam 🙄 please Domi.. please go watch Liam Dukes reaction to this episode.. you wont regret it 🤭🤭

Jeffrey

Sis is adorable! We need a pre-intro from her every week.

Molly Willis

Domi in the intro: "I'm just here to watch and analyse and freak out over Tara and Willow" Us patrons: ... hehehehehe Also, as much as it's bullshit that Tara & Willow weren't allowed to kiss on screen, I love that it brought us gorgeous, creative, romantic moments like the magic 'O' spell from 'Who Are You' and Tara blowing out the candle here. The accidental upside of the censorship is that everything ends up having this lovely sapphic sensuality without being male gaze-y.

FernWithy

The other accidental upside is that they actually spent this season developing the relationship between Tara and Willow, to a point where, despite how beloved Oz was, people were rooting for Tara. Buffy/Riley could have taken a few lessons.

Milan W.

I appreciate the elation over Oz being back up until you realized why he would be back lol

Val

After seeing your Hush reaction on Patreon and speaking about Willow and Tara, this is the ep that made me want to join your Patreon! I thought if you were this excited about them in Hush, what the hell will you do when you see THIS ep! She may just fall off the chair. :) So I just had to see your full reactions. Domi- I hope you get to watch Alley's reaction too. It was amazing and hysterical IMO. When Willow told Tara that if felt like her head was going to explode, I really thought you were gonna say something like, "me too" or "I'm right there with you Willow." :) The one thing I wasn't crazy about was in the van scene when Willow said "it was my fault, I upset you." Um no sorry, you do not put any blame on yourself Will. Great reaction Domi, looking forward to plenty more.

UTU49

lol. That's how I think too.

UTU49

In the opening scene, I could not BELIEVE that you looked away from the screen RIGHT when Willow took Tara's hand. That was absolutely hilarious.

UTU49

Preferably a first-responder.

Steven

I got the impression that it was purely Adam's actions that allowed entry to the Initiative and when he saw they were trying to shut down the energy grid, he allowed it or ensured it's success. All to aid in Spike's further infiltration of the Scoobs.

Ron Fehr

The way I look at it, Tara did not hate Oz at all. Obviously envious of his and and Willow's relationship, but still she did not hate him. The reason I say this is because she went straight to Willow after Oz was captured. While her main motivation was Willow's happiness, she was also concerned about Oz's safety. She didn't want anything bad to happen to him. Also, Oz did not want to hurt Tara. Otherwise why did he tell her to run before he had fully turned into a werewolf? He knew the potential of what he, as a werewolf, could do, and he was giving Tara every opportunity to survive.

Loves Bitca

I've seen at least one person that saw that "Run" as a threat, when it was a warning for her to get away. Which I kind of understand, as the way the line is said, it's guttural. But he's mid transformation into an animal.

Ron Fehr

In my opinion, if he had meant it as a threat, he would have said it with a harsher tone. It just didn't seem in Oz's nature to intentionally hurt someone. Also, perhaps he realized that hurting Tara would mean emotionally hurting Willow.

Ron Fehr

I don't think Oz was being quite that literal when he said that Willow brought out the werewolf in him. I think it was the thought of her with someone else that caused it. Had it been another guy, the same thing probably would have happened. That's just my opinion anyway.

Domi E

hahaha they really might have 😂🥰

Domi E

she really did kinda nail it 😆

Domi E

right? she really is is the cutest 😁

Domi E

HAHA… good point 😂

Domi E

Domi E

Domi E

😂😂😂true that! and omg no way she fooled you, that’s great haha

Domi E

aw thanks raven, i’m so glad you liked it!!! i think you’re 100% right about the ox (😆) commentary. i hadn’t seen it that way originally (i don’t know why) but i think all your points are so valid, i don’t know why i had a different impression when watching the scene originally but that’s def changed

Domi E

thank you so much val, and welcomeee!!! i was actually 100% thinking that but i guess the words couldn’t come out of my mouth during the scene haha. so excited to keep watching :)

Domi E

domi do be dumb.. it’s a talent

GreenDragon

I love Oz. I will always love Oz. I named my cat after Oz. That is all ;)

ADDButterfly

I knew you were gonna freak with this episode. It's one of my favorites.

Joseph Johnson

The scene in the van and Oz made the comment about Willow would never make him angry again was a nice parallel to the relationship his friend Debby had with her abusive boyfriend in season 3. Oz can't control the wolf and the last thing he ever wanted was to hurt Willow. He wanted her to be happy and knowing it wasn't him he chose not to risk Willow or Tara's safety by leaving so they could be together and safe from the wolf. Truly accepting their relationship would take time and even if he stayed and they acted completely platonic in front of him the wolf within him would always sense Tara as a rival. The Tillow chemistry in this episode was absolutely amazing throughout. I am a grown man and I still cry with Tara when she tells Willow to follow her heart. Tara has always been and will always be the most kind and compassionate person on this show. Something I have notice on multiple viewings. Willow is wearing an orange shirt and her sweater when she goes and visits Tara. They talk and cry and talk some more. Then we next see Tara wearing Willow's sweater which is possible that and the crying and hugging left Willow's scent on Tara, and Tara's scent on Willow. Which had enraged the Wolf within Oz causing him to lose control of his emotions. When Tara went to Willow that Oz had been taken she wasn't wearing an orange shirt, she was wearing a purple shirt that was a little too big for her. Maybe Willow went back to her dorm and changed shirts after leaving Tara's room. OR maybe while Willow was with Tara in her room she may have found a reason to remove her shirt and just borrowed one of Tara's before going to the library. Maybe she wanted Tara to know how much she meant to her because I have a feeling that Willow had already decided who she wanted to be with when she told Buffy she was gay. Tara isn't a confrontational person, she was really uncomfortable around Oz and his aggressive behavior didn't help. It is possible she had just shared a beautiful moment with Willow and didn't want to be caught between the two of them which is why she said she hoped they would be happy together and tried to quickly get away. Willow would need to explain it to Oz and not Tara. Personally I love how Buffy reacted to Willow coming out. I have been in her shoes back then and believe me freaking out will happen. I had known my buddy for eight years, we hung out, shot pool, shared hotels between Oregon and Florida when he went with me to meet a girl. Changing in gym class or at the pool locker room. My mind was trying to determine how many times he had checked me out. when I finally stopped freaking out and remember this was my friend, I realized I had slid about 12 feet from him on the bleachers we were sitting on. I sat back down next to him and said, more girls for me, hell yeah. He laughed and I laughed and we were still friends. He introduced me to his boyfriend, we hung out and the three of us went on a fishing trip and had a great time. Seeing buffy get freaked out and moving away from Willow, not looking at Willow directly until Willow asks if she is okay and Buffy looks at her and relaxes as she sits down and thanks her for being open and honest with her was a nice touch and very accurate when you learn something like that from someone you deep care for.

"The accidental upside of the censorship is that everything ends up having this lovely sapphic sensuality without being male gaze-y." Just like Xena and Gabrielle. Well said!

Girl4Music

God I was so excited for you to get to this episode, Domi. You’re right when you say that Willow and Oz’s relationship was very real… which is why this episode is so important for Willow. So I would say it’s more Willow-centric than Oz-centric. It’s the closure they needed, sure. But what’s even more important is it’s the affirmation Willow needed. I want to talk a little bit about that latter point because it’s relatable. The conclusion to this episode is a double self-affirmation for Willow, and for anyone watching that has her as their self-insert character and that relates to and resonates with her difficult situation in this episode: “I have chosen to be with a woman I have feelings for.” AND “I have chosen to be with a woman I have feelings for even when a man wants me. A man I have previously loved and still have feelings for.” Yes, there’s the added complication that Oz still wolfs out and particularly while around Willow - but they’ve dealt with that before, they could deal with it again. No, Willow has made an INFORMED CHOICE. She CHOSE Tara over Oz. Oz: “But you’re happy *being with Tara*?” Willow: “I am.” This is incredibly important validation not just for closeted lesbians - but also for private WLW couples who constantly have men coming in and out of their life that they’re being assigned to or suited with by the company they keep. That they may have even been in a relationship with previously - either by their own free will or by force/pere-pressure from their family, friends and community. This episode is HUGE validation for that AUDIENCE specifically and solely. Respect!
