Having seen all the Buffy episodes already, I knew this was coming. I'm just sad that you had to go through that, Domi. One scene that I got a little chuckle out of was when Giles sold red dress lady (Glory/Glorificus, as she was called) the items for the transmogrification smell, not knowing that it was who they were looking for.

Buffy: “I have someone in my life now... that I love. It's not what you and I had. It's very new. You know what makes it new? I trust him. I know him.” …This line from Angel 1x19 didn’t age well…

R J Walker (FumblesMcStupid)

On the up side Giles got to play boy racer, Anya got to insult her boss (and get away with it), Tara got to be super intelligent :) It's a hard one though! You're right about the season 1 call backs (including the somewhat crappy special fx lol). I also thought that Glory yelling 'demon come' three times was like Giles doing it in I Robot You Jane. And as usual Buffy being strong for everybody else :'(

Ron Fehr

Yes, I wish things would have gone differently for her.

I really love Buffy's relationship with Dawn after the revelation in "No Place Like Home". Genuinely feel that sisterly connection which is so nice to see, like you said, even after Buffy found out about Dawn. The opening scene where she comforts Dawn in the hospital waiting room is one of my favorite small emotional moments in the series

Darrell Palmer

Hang in there. We're all going to get through this together. You are not alone!

Ron Fehr

Yes, Buffy's attitude towards Dawn changed completely. Although Joyce's sickness is not funny, it did help bring Buffy and Dawn closer together.

Ron Fehr

The last shot with Riley says it all. He's all by himself.

Bud Haven

Riley wants to be needed by Buffy. He tried to get Buffy to let him comfort her. When she said she couldn't he was disappointed. He wants Buffy to turn to him, not because she needs to, but because he needs her to. Riley makes her problems about him.

Ron Fehr

I think Riley shouldn't have let it get this far. From the beginning, he should have settled for just being a good friend. Of course, people can't help how they feel, and he fell in love.

Shaun Houghton

I'm not sure our little Dominator is going to make it.

Domi E

haha i’m flattered you’re watching, thank you :)

Domi E

lies lies lies 😂

Domi E

that really was hilarious!

Domi E

absolutely agree! their relationship is so incredible right now

Domi E

thank you darrell ❤️❤️❤️

Domi E

that’s a great point!! i never saw it this way but i guess he really does need her to

Domi E

nopeeee😭😭😭

Buffy had clearly defeated the snake-demon that Glory had sent to find the key, yet she kept hitting it. I am certain that she was using the moment to get rid of some unreleased rage.

That scene with Riley and Dawn in the playground, I feel like Dawn was reassuring Riley more than the other way around. It felt like Riley was the more needy one. Which is does not really reflect well on him. Of course Dawn did say a few things that didn't sit too well with Riley, but she said them with good intentions. She seems so mature, and yet so very young at the same time. I hope Joyce is going to be okay.

I fully agree; as far back as season 2 Killed by Death we've seen that Buffy needs something to fight, needs to let those emotions out in a physical way. That's what she was doing, as well as making sure it was really, _really_ dead this time.

It´s really fascinating how you see Spike with those positive eyes. :) Spike wants to hurt Riley by telling him, that he knows stuff about Buffy, that she didn´t bother telling Riley, but told Spike. Domi: " It´s such a sweet thing. Spike wanted to send Riley, because he knew she needed somebody". Spike sniffs Buffys shirt and also steals her underwear to sniff it, which is sooo wrong and gross. Domi: *smiling during the whole scene. Haha it´s really funny that this character has some kind of "You can do anything, I´ll love you regardless-card" :D

Ron Fehr

No matter how much Riley doesn't like Spike, he still has a sense of decency. Upon kicking Spike out of Buffy's house, he could have just left him to burn in the sunlight, but he did give Spike the blanket. It may have been out of anger, but he still did it.

Jordan Haddow

Honestly, I think the reason Riley hasn't killed Spike is because of Buffy. He knows that as the slayer, Buffy is the judge of who dies and she's made the decision that he lives, so Riley isn't going to cross her no matter how much he wants to. Riley never did have the internal Rules that Buffy follows. He was a soldier and I don't think he's ever gotten to the point where Spike has made it out of enemy territory.

No doubt about it, it is a tough episode. So few of us saw the title, Shadow, being what it was. I have to say though, watching you towards the end of the episode, it reminded me of watching back in season one. How back then you were very big into claiming you don't cry over shows and fought against it so hard. I'm glad you've been able to overcome that and really feel the episodes. Not that I enjoy seeing you cry, but these episodes are so well done, and foster so much empathy, that it's just hard to comprehend it not tugging the heart strings and really getting to someone. I've seen this episode many times now and it still gets to me. This show is so much more enjoyable when one is able to just let go of bravado and simply feel it. Like the complex emotions delivered by Dawn's reciting her tenth birthday experience that is so real to her and yet we know, it never happened. How Buffy knows that Dawn and her memories of Dawn, like that tenth birthday with her on the carousel, aren't real, but she chooses to make them as her reality over the truth. I do have to say though, that Spike sniffing the shirt thing is just so hard to sit through. They sure like to remind us he doesn't have a conscience in the worst ways. They did make it up a little with the whole Glory coming through the shop gag. Great reaction as always, but this one was really good. Looking forward to watching how you react as season 5 continues. All I will say is, the roller coaster ride as begun, buckle in.

Ron Fehr

I've probably seen this episode often enough that I can keep my emotions in check, but watching other people have to suffer through it always seems to break me down. I like watching Domi react, but it doesn't make me feel good to see her tearing up.

Veronika

Oh, Domi :'( sending big hugs! <333

KT

Since they chose to have Riley do that thing in this particular episode, I think it's good that they intercut it with moments between Buffy and Joyce. Because it makes it much harder to ignore the sheer magnitude of his selfishness. He is suffering. I have a lot of empathy for anyone that doesn't feel loved, but he does not have the right to do this right now. The fact that he's fixating on Spike and Angel and HIMSELF when Buffy's mother JUST got diagnosed with a fucking brain tumor is truly nauseating.

Joseph Johnson

Riley is being a total ass and not for the cheating which is bad enough on its own. Riley has access to Buffy's home as well as her mom and sister. If he get captured and turned neither Joyce or Dawn will realize the danger until it is too late. couple that with his military training, Riley could be a tougher fight then either Angelus or the Master for Buffy and her friends. His going out and looking for danger is why Buffy doesn't like letting people in, her fears of putting them in danger often supersede her own happiness. Tara has been out longer and probably has a support circle of friends and one of them has to single and not a thrill seeker. get rid of Riley and introduce Buffy to a nice girl whose idea of an exciting evening is cookie dough ice-cream and cuddles on the couch. Worked for Willow and she has never been happier. This episode hit hard with the brain tumor. My mother had something similar for several years before the symptoms got bad enough that we realized something was really wrong. It was nice to see Man Nurse, the only name I will ever call him because it is so funny to me. trying to comfort Buffy in a non, let me between your legs kind of way that is too common with many shows. Men are completely capable of being compassionate without trying to get sex from a woman. I am not getting off my soapbox. I like that they are also setting boundaries and limitations on what Tara and Willow can do with magic. The fact Tara was so quick to state they shouldn't try and use magic makes me wonder if she did try with her own mom and is carrying around some guilt for her passing. It was also nice to see Dawn try and cheer up Riley when he should have been making her feel better. Goes along way in showing how much of Buffy and Joyce is really in her compared to this key nonsense.

UTU49

"Tara is really hot in this episode." I was noticing that too. Some combination of her clothing, hair, jewelry, and makeup was REALLY working for her. BTW, obviously I've gotten behind on my reactors, and I'm catching up now. Sometimes it's really fun to get behind, because then I can watch 2 or 3 episodes back-to-back-to-back-to...
