QUICK SCHEDULE/EPISODE UPDATE:Hiya friends, it seems like my audio in this reaction was slightly off-synch so I have just fixed it on this new version, which should hopefully work better!!! Re: my schedule... I'm so tired/overwhelmed I forgot about prior commitments that make it really hard to post on Friday, so I'll post 5x10 on Monday instead! I am not sure when the episode after that will be posted. I might need to go back to 1 ep/week while I figure everything out, but if I have time to post it on Friday, I will :) Just wanted to manage expectations as for what to expect since I always like to be upfront about these things. Sorry about all the confusion!!

Another absolutely moving episode. I’m so relieved… For now!! Really anxious about the next episode though, I must say.

Sorry about the delay with this episode it’s been a crazy week, but hoping to be able to record 5x10 in time to post it Friday.

PS: Hoping the video quality looks better with my new camera! Also tried making the episode volume louder since we talked about this in Discord. Let me know how it looks/sounds!!

I am gonna go on record and say the queller demon is my absolute least favorite demon, there are some other strong contenders though lol. The video quality was great. Only thing is sometimes the audio and video got out of sync, not much, just a little. But that happened on previous videos too. Overall another great Buffy episode.

I think this is the only Buffyverse episode that almost made me barf. And there are some nasty demons in that universe, but the queller... yuk

The most interesting part of the episode to me was what happened in Buffy's house. Buffy in the kitchen when she turns on the radio with the loud music to drown out her mother's raving in the same way Dawn puts the pillow over her ears. She realized that in that moment she couldn't take what was happening and breaks down. Spike is obsessing over Buffy, but I think he has real feelings as well. His vampire self verses his human self. After killing the Queller demon Spike helps Buffy up. And Buffy lets him, instead of ignoring his hand and getting up. We see that Riley saw it as well. And finally Buffy reassuring Joyce and Dawn, holding them as if she was the parent and they were the children.

Ron Fehr

Buffy finally broke down for a little while, but she probably only felt okay doing it because she was alone at the time. She wanted to stay strong for Joyce and Dawn, and not having them around let her release her pain for a few seconds.

Your concern for Joyce in the intro was very touching. So I guess the first slayer might not be the big bad of the season after all? But let's not rule out the cheeseman just yet! That moment Buffy breaks down while doing the dishes is very powerful. And the contrast with that jaunty tune on the radio really enhances it IMO.

Ron Fehr

After having to wait two seasons for Joyce to find out about Buffy being the Slayer, it was nice that she was already able to find out about Dawn. She has two unique daughters, a slayer and a key.

By the way, that was a different vampire sucking on Riley's arm. If you recall, he dusted her after letting her suck on his neck. This just got me thinking. He would have to let one suck on him until he was near death for him to become a vampire himself. It didn't look like he was at that stage yet, as sucking on the arm would not drain the blood very fast.

Hosman

Yes you are right, the vampire would have to suck enough blood from Riley until his heart begins to slow. Then Riley would have to suck the vampire's blood. It's a whole sucking thing.

You know what? Sometimes I cry just listening to you guys (reactors) talk about how you feel about what's happening on the show.

Ron Fehr

For me, having seen all the episodes already, it's sometimes tempting to try to text some comforting words. The trouble is that I may accidentally say something that could be a spoiler. It's probably better to just cry along with them.

Sorry for the spoiler but Into the Woods is about Buffy moving to Canada and starting a new life as a Lumberjack and leap from tree to tree, sleep all night and work all day. She will cut down trees, eat her lunch and go to the lavatory. On Wednesdays she'll go shopping and have buttered scones for tea. Takes the show in a whole new direction.

Two extremely powerful, emotional and relatable moments. Buffy uncontrollable crying while doing the dishes and her conversation with Joyce about Dawn.

Domi E

Thank you so much!! And yup, creepy ass demon for sure LOL!

Domi E

But what about that Angel episode where Wes drinks blood? Wahhhhhh!!!! Buffyverse is getting too much right now haha

Domi E

Great points! And the Buffy scene really is so incredibly heartbreaking

Domi E

Oh gosh, I love Buffy too much!!

Domi E

Thank you Zero!! And it really was too much. And don't worry I haven't forgotten about Mr. Big Bad Cheeseman, I know he's gotta be coming!

Domi E

Aw stop you're too sweet!

Domi E

HA! I knew it. Exactly what I predicted!

Domi E

Agreed. Another beautifully written episode!

Steve Quast

Slayers are good at cutting down trees. Remember that desert in the dream in Restless? It used to be a forest before the first slayer got there.

Veronika

I feel so bad about your anxiety at the beginning of your reaction...please Domi, just know that there is no pressure from us and that when you don't feel like recording or you feel anxious about anything, you don't have to do it. Your comfort and well-being are the most important and you absolutely don't have to worry about any schedule. I wanted to scream so badly at the screen that everything is going to be okay and you don't have to be afraid but then I remembered the monster of this episode and yuck...I'm glad this one is out of the way.

Steve Quast

There's only one Buffyverse episode that almost made me toss my cookies, and it wasn't this one. The queller is still pretty nasty, though.

Phoenix Dawn

Joyce convo about Dawn is one of my most favourite scenes of the whole show!
