It's so strange seeing so many reactors that I'm watching post this episode around the same time. Riley Lynn just posted this on Saturday; and while I know SoFie is actually much further ahead on Patreon, she just posted this I think on Friday on YouTube. The episode itself is interesting, if albeit a bit weird. I like the girls messing with Joyce when she's trying on her dress, and the playful interaction between her and Buffy after her date. Their relationship has come so far since season 1. And Buffy telling Giles, "Or you can stay and.... Listen to my mom talk about boys..." was a great line; and hearing how Dawn essentially tortured Giles. Four years of Buffy, and Dawn's the one who breaks him.

I have not yet seen the full reaction but I just need to say I loooove your shirt so much! And I hope that your heart didn't actually break. edit: Oh Domi, I'm so sorry...I'm actually balling my eyes out watching this with you and hearing you talk about your change of heart about Joyce throughout the series. Just know that we are here for you <3 you don't have to watch the next episode if you're not ready. Your well-being is the most important thing. Sending you big hugs! <333

Bixgirl1

Tyt, we'll be here when you're ready. ❤ (Edited for allusions re: future episodes. Ty to the commenter who suggested I wait.)

Chess Red Eagle

Sending you all the hugs. And yes, they were fully aware of how mean this was.

Raven Dark

Good god, that tonal shift at the end. It's like having a bucket of ice water thrown on you.

Alison

My heart hurt for you listening to your intro. You didn’t know it but subconsciously you were preparing yourself. Take your time and watch the next episode when you’re up to it. Hugs!

I generally enjoy your reactions, but less so your level of Spuffy ship blinders. Like, Buffy talks about her repulsion towards Spike, and you're like, "Awe, she's scared to admit how she feels".... 🤦‍♂️

Nica Marie

Too bad we don't know which boyband she tortured him with. Was it Nsync or Backstreet Boys?

"Well some of us like that in a girl" In that case Xander was talking about Anya. Anya was describing the way April talked, which is a lot like how Anya speaks at times.

Mathias

> Passion was one of the best episodes of season 2, > but it hurts like shit. Exactly.

Mathias

About Ben and Glory: I'm not an expert on sibling Gods :-) but my understanding is that Ben and Glory are sort of sharing 1 body, so probably you can't ever meet both at the same time? Also, I'm not sure if Ben is classified as a God or not...

I like all the subtle connections throughout the episode. First time we've seen a reference to Joyce dating, since she dated a robot, which this episode is about. Anya and Tara talking about computers. Buffy suggesting she should change who she is, or act a certain way even though it isn't her to get a guy, and seeing the extreme example of that, in a "girlfriend" who was programmed to be that way.

I think that mostly comes from Domi's already having watched later episodes of Angel and getting the idea that Buffy and Spike have a relationship at some point, and going in with that preconceived notion she has to believe that Buffy must have feelings for Spike, that right now are being kept hidden.

Antonio

Yep, it's like Michael and Janet Jackson back in the day.

On Spuffy red flags. I am a big Spike fan and love Spuffy moments and Spuffy reactors, Or a Bike reactor, BUT have to admit that it is problematic from Spike. I think it's okay to be into Spuffy and acknowledging the troublesome aspects because it's still fiction. I wouldn't support anything about it in real life, but for tv shipping it's fun. My opinion is that Spike does Love Buffy, but he is soulless, so no matter how real the love is, it's not going to happen in a good way.

Dave Ford

Yes, I came here to say that. He was actually complimenting Anya in that sentence. Unlike the previous sentence which was all about drooling over April.

UTU49

Or a bucket of sharks.

Audra Foxgrove

‘We still haven’t gotten an explanation for why Joyce is sick” um, yes we did. It was a tumor. That WAS the explanation. The whole point of it was that it was not mystical in any way, it was real world stuff that Buffy cannot fight.

AlyAdmirer

I haven't even watched the reaction yet, just OMG, the SHIRT...! Love it! :-)

Bri

Oooh dude ❤️❤️

zerofk

So, you'd rather see Buffy with a soulless vampire who tried to kill her numerous times than with a nice doctor-in-training? I'm not judging... Okay Ben sometimes turns into Glory, but that's just a small detail. The actress who plays April is great in this role. And that scene on the swings between her and Buffy is very good. In general this is just a very well made episode. With or without that ending.

Noémie Robidoux

I think the connexion Buffy has with April is because, the same as April being made to love Warren.... Buffy is made to be a slayer... and she has a hard time finding herself within that role

People who haven't watched Buffy can't understand how rich these characters are, and how important they become to us. These characters are constantly growing and changing. Their relationships are constantly evolving. (Compare Buffy and Xander's interaction in this episode to their interaction in Seasons 1 and 2. They've grown up.) These characters are affected by everything. I don't think I've seen another show that has characters who live and breath like these characters do. I don't know how many times I've watched through the entire series -- well over 5 times. My favorite seasons I may have watched over 20 times. But no matter how many times I've watched an episode, I still worry about the characters, because they are so vulnerable. I really love this episode, and it always makes me a little sad that it gets over-shadowed by the final scene. Anyway, I'm glad we're all here, re-experiencing Buffy together through reactors. Buffy is such a strange beast of a series.

Ron Fehr

Wow, that ending almost makes you forget what the episode was about. 😔😓

UTU49

Yeah, it feels weird that Riley, Domi, and Lexi are all very close together right now, and I am not subscribed to Sofie on Patreon, so I'm currently watching her videos for the same place in the series. Also Passion of the Nerd (Ian) just uploaded his analysis of this episode.

Christine

I don't think these two things have been mentioned, yet. 1 - April (the robot) was supposed to be played by Brittany Spears (pre-breakdown), and 2 - Amber Benson (Tara) dated the guy who plays Warren for years after they met on Buffy. I don't think they're still together.

madfem

Big hugs 🧡🧡

Ron Fehr

It looks like it's time for Buffy to be alone with Buffy.

Ron Fehr

The same thing had been happening for me for several episodes. Especially in episodes with Joyce in the hospital. Knowing what was coming up, it was harder than usual not to say anything, wishing there was some way to comfort you beforehand Domi.

Anitusar

I completely was not prepared for the final scene as I was convinced that the Joyce headache arc was done. It actually shocked me so much, that I forgot anything else happening in the episode. So, on the next 2-3 rewatches I traumatized myself again because I only connected the ending to the storyline minutes before it was playing out.

Ron Fehr

Some viewers of the original airing had said that the next episode was therapeutic for them, having gone through similar experiences. Hopefully it will help any first-time viewers, no matter what the circumstances.

Loves Bitca

Just had to come back here after the collab of the three video. Seeing Lexi so excited that Joyce is okay now (where she's at) and Domi and Alley can't react when we know what's going through their minds.

KT

Man every time you say "I can't do this" in the afterthoughts section, I think of Willow in the next episode
