What an absolutely fun episode, I loved it so much!!! But also WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THAT ENDING. I am so conflicted. Full of feelings. Possibly dying a little. Everything fine.. It's ok.

OMG!! A joint outro with Lexi you guys are so much fun to watch I can't wait to see the drunken re-watch and hear some more theories from you both

One other reason that you should watch Band Candy is to see Snyder again. Especially the effect the candy has on him.

2 hours! Holy guacamole.

In case you didn't understand the the Hokey Pokey reference, it's in regards to an old children's ditty. You putyour left foot in. You take your left foot out. Yout your left foot in and Shake it all about. There's more to it, but I would probably get the words wrong. Hopefully someone else remembers and and finish the rhyme.

Denni Caid

You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around That's what it's all about! ;)

One of my favorite things about this episode (besides, like, everything lol) is the tiniest of details but it makes me laugh every single time: when Anya suggests to the Buffybot that she change into smth more "fighty," a lot of people dont notice that she actually does. She comes down in the exact same outfit, but wearing flats. 😂😂😭😭💀😂😭💀 Great reaction, this one (skeeziness aside) is an absolute banger imho lol.

Domi when she first starts watching Buffy: I'm not a cryer. I don't tend to cry. Domi watching season 5: Please Please PLEASE don't make me CRY again!!!

Steve Quast

Buffy: Weird love is better than no love. *cuts to Spike and the Buffy bot* lol

Shaun Houghton

I am yet to see anything holy about guacamole.

Ron Fehr

Thanks Denni Caid. I guess I did remember the rest of it. I had just thought that there was more to the verse.

Ron Fehr

I don't understand how Willow couldn't recognize that Buffybot was a robot. Her speech seemed similar to April. She also seemed to cheerful for this point in the grieving period.

Ron Fehr

You got it wrong. It's "Holy guacamole Batman." At least that's how Robin of the 1960s would have said it.

Steve Quast

A whole hour and ten minutes before a Jenny mention. Another record.

I LOVE this episode so much. I Love the Buffybot. Partly because of what you mention at the beginning of the video. The last few episodes have been very dark. Even most of this season has been rather dark and serious. But playing Buffybot gave SMG a good chance to have some fun with goofy humor instead of constantly having to cry.

I think Angel(us) is the outlier, in that he acively tries to repress and "rid" himself of even the slightest trace of his humanity. He bordered on manic in his repulsion after being possessed in "I Only Have Eyes For You". He kept scrubbing himself to get the feeling of humanity off him and wanted a "vile kill" to finish it off. Personally I think it stems from being turned into a vampire breaking him psychologically. He acted out as a measure to get his father's attention, but as Darla pointed out, he ultimately wanted to get his father's approval; he thought someday he'd put the bad behavior behind him and have his father's respect and becoming a vampire was a step too far that he could never take back. He hates himself and he hates anything that reminds him of the humanity he lost. It's why he becomes fixated on people and doesn't just kill them. He has to take from them what he feels was taken from him. Vampires in the Buffyverse are entirely capable of love and all of the other human emotions. There's not even a debate about that. The point is, the soul balances their impulsive behavior with morality. Without a soul they generally operate on the pain pleasure principal. If it makes them happy, they'll do it, but it also doesn't matter what the consequences are - hence the Buffybot. Spike is infatuated with Buffy, but he literally lacks the capacity to express that in a consistently healthy way.

When Buffy was washing the dishes I noticed the radio Buffy had on when she was trying to drown out Joyce's raving was there. Real Me is the episode I rewatch as a comfort show. Knowing now that she is both real and not. So wholesome (for Buffy). A murder, a kidnapping, a major injury and a couple more attempted murders. Yep wholesome. It was odd to see you two reviewing the episode when Lexi hasn't posted it yet. I guess I'll wait till then to watch the rehash. You mentioned being surprised that Buffy wasn't more grossed by the bot. I think it was a matter of Spike's selfless action protecting Dawn was so much more important to her than Spike acting like Spike. Spike said he stayed quiet so that Buffy wouldn't be emotionally destroyed. In 517 Spike said he was helping Dawn because he didn't want to see Summers women take it so hard on the chin. Both times he wanted to help Buffy and Dawn without an immediate reward from Buffy. His obsessive love seems to be gaining a more altruistic tone.

I was so confused when the episode ended 😂, but I loved the analysis!

Ron Fehr

One thing that should have triggered Willow to know that something was off about Buffy(bot) is when she insulted Angel. Although her comments do sound like something Spike would have Warren program into her.

A joint review! What a great concept! 2 of my faves together <3

Oh god Lexi bringing up high school musical made me realise that I want a Lexi and Domi drunk watch of HSM…

Miah

Holy crap, I've never noticed that. I always thought it was kind of weird that she went to change her clothes, but never did. I didn't even notice the shoes!

Ron Fehr

If you're referring to the kiss, I suspect that Buffy thought Spike would be truthful with the Buffybot, hence the pretense. The kiss was a way of saying she thought Spike needed some kind of thanks for not revealing Dawn's true identity.

Veronika

This was such a blast! Thank you so much for this surprise guest appearance. You and Lexi are always so fun together! Can't wait to see what you think about the rest of the season!

Kelly Walker

I was actually referring to the sudden appearance of Lexi and thinking the wrong video got spliced in, but I agree with your summary.

Ron Fehr

I had to watch this reaction in pieces. One time I scrolled too far ahead and I saw Lexi on the screen. So I got the surprise in a different way, but it was still great to see.

zerofk

Those bots Warren makes are not very good at waiting are they? April was supposed to wait for Warren to return, but she went looking for him. And then Buffy (the bot) was supposed to wait for Spike and she also went out to find him. I think there's a bit of a flaw in their programming. You were very quick to figure out it was Buffy talking to Spike in that last scene! Unexpected Lexi was so much fun :-)

UTU49

Domi: I'm really not that big a crier. I don't really cry a lot. The Buffyverse: Well aren't you just the most delightful little thing?!

Steve Quast

There are no people who don't cry. Only people who haven't watched Buffy yet.
