Everything is okay. Totally fine. No stress whatsoever. Concern? Non existent. Stability? Gone (both mine and... you know who's). But it's ok. I have definetly not been spiraling over this episode for the past 24 hours since I watched it. I'm ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"They got the wrong person, it's fine." Yes and no. Yes, they got the wrong person and NO, this is DEFINITELY NOT FINE!!!😫 "I enjoy the angst." Be careful what you wish for...;"-(((

Khanach

Glad to know you're okay and not at all worried about anything that happened in this episode. Now I can watch your reaction knowing that there'll be no screaming, crying or any emotional display of any kind 👍

Keenan White

Lol…poor thing, this season is gonna be the death of you, isn’t it?

Steve Quast

Regarding the edited episodes, just do whatever you want. Don't stress yourself on my account, as I only watch extended reactions. Still in introductory comments. 1. You don't need an excuse to rewatch Intervention. Being an amazing episode is reason enough. 2. Season 5 is easily one of the most rewatchable seasons of the show. 3. I agree with you about episode 5. The first time I watched it I was like, oh, this is interesting, but I didn't realize what a great episode it was until I rewatched it a few times. Now it's one of the reactions I greatly look forward to.

Domi: "... where IS Tara?" Me, knowing what's going to happen in this episode: "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that question is NOT gonna age well..."

AlyAdmirer

Domi: "Oh hey! She's alive! And well!" Me: "STOP DIGGING, DOMI!!!"

Ron Fehr

I found myself siding with Tara in the quarrel with Willow, but I don't know if I ever looked at it the way you did Domi. Yes, they were arguing, but they were also speaking openly to help the other understand her better. I like how Willow had a little panic attack, until Giles explained that he meant that the girls' fight was over, not their relationship. And Tara showed a lot of bravery and loyalty in not revealing Dawn as the key. She could have spared herself the agony, but to her, Dawn's secret was more important.

Today I learned the Twinkie Defense is a real thing lol. Another great episode full of some amazing performances. Amber Benson doesn't get enough credit. She's a wonderful actress. As others have said, it's up to you if you want to post the Youtube versions here, but personally I only watch the full extended versions.

Raven Dark

The reaction is 2 hours!? Heehee. yay! Here we go.

James

Great reaction Domi! In answer to your question, I just watch the full reactions.

Ron Fehr

I like to watch the YouTube reactions mostly because my TV has a bigger screen than my phone. But if I just have to wait a little longer, thats okay.

Dave Ford

"There's no way they'd make Tara loose her memories if they weren't going to reverse it later..." Sure, in the same way they'd never give Joyce brain cancer and then cure her of it only to kill her off six episodes later. Just like he wouldn't make Giles and Jenny fall in love, then break up, and then just when they get back together kills her off. No spoilers, but if you think it's unlikely that Joss would write a story line where two characters have a period of tension and/or conflict and just when you think things are about to get better then one of them gets killed in a sudden and shocking unexpected moment then you've not been paying attention...

Raven Dark

For the most part, the edited reactions don't matter much to me because I just watch the extended or full reactions. But, if, like you did with episode 5, you add things to the ones that go up on Youtrube, then for those, I'd say, don't worry about putting them up here, but just let us know on here when it goes up on Youtube, so that we know to watch the extra stuff. I've subscribed to your Youtube channel, but I don't always get the notifications the way I should, so knowing when you post ones that have been changed when they go up is a good idea. Hope that makes sense. Great reaction as always, Domi. Can't wait for more!

Raven Dark

Oh, and I forgot, I meant to ask something. Buffy burnout? Is that a thing? LOL

Scott Rabie

"There's no way they'd make Tara loose her memories if they weren't going to reverse it later..." Not sure if this was pointed out yet but She feeds on sanity itself. It's not her memories that are gone.

Everytime they do, what I call 'pulling a Whedon', and it still takes one of us by surprise, I always think of Angelus' line "And you fall for it Every Time".

Ron Fehr

It may have been alluded to in the episode after Checkpoint (sorry for forgetting the title). Giles was reading from some of the information that the Watchers council provided. I'm paraphrasing, but I think Giles mentioned that Glory was only able to keep her own sanity by feeding off of others.

Hosman

It works fine for me, both the video player and the download.

James

Just finished your post-episode discussion, and again you seem to be genuinely very upset. I hope you are still enjoying the show. A balance between being invested in the story but being a bit detached might be healthy. I get emotional and cry during episodes, but a part of my brain is also remembering it's not real and it's just a tv show and I'm enjoying the drama and how well it's written and acted. Again, I hope watching the show is still enjoyable for you!

It’s interesting how much your reaction to what happened to Tara in this episode almost exactly followed the trajectory of your reaction to Jenny’s death in S2, when you started off almost completely in denial of what had just happened, and then gradually ended up devastated. I watched the show as it aired and I remember in both those scenes I lost it and was sobbing immediately, no doubt at all about what had just happened, so it’s interesting how people can react so differently to the same scenes in a show they both have so much time and care invested in watching.

Ron Fehr

I was watching near the end of your post, and a crazy thought hit me. You spoke about your desire and need to just finish watching the season. My crazy thought was to react to the he final three episodes in one go. The downside for you though would be having to post an extremely long video. Not just with the episodes, but also with your comments. The upside, for a while at least, would be that you're still caught up with Lexi. Lol

FandomReferenceHere

I save up the YouTube reactions and binge them on YouTube, so I don’t watch them here and wouldn’t need them any sooner :-) BTW, I really love the addition of your editing thoughts! I’ve often thought that I would watch you (and Alley and Lexi) REWATCH Buffy when you’re all finished, so I doubt Buffy Burnout exists for me. I was really looking forward to your thoughts on the Tillow argument and you did not disappoint :-) I think the first half of the scene shows WHY they haven’t had an actual “fight” yet, and it’s because usually they are really good at communicating! And then they both touched a nerve and they both lashed out. It’s just such excellent writing.

Domi E

are you quoting tara on me right now 😭😭😭😭

Domi E

100%!! not worried at all.

Domi E

Domi E

Domi E

aw thank you paul ❤️

Raven Dark

LMAO, I literally saw Tara saying this with the right sadness and intonation. Stutter and all. "Do what...makes you...h-happy..." Eidetic memory. It's a curse.

It took me awhile to pick up on Joss' writing pattern - at least Dollhouse, probably even Doctor Horrible. Incidentally, it was also around that time I started to think Joss gets too much credit, and began appreciating the talented writers he's often surrounded by on projects like Buffy or Angel, that can sometimes get overlooked...

Stargazer1682

It's interesting you bring up bi erasure in media. Purportedly Joss has said when they decided Willow would be with Tara, they made wanted to make her unequivocally gay, as opposed to bisexual, because they didn't want it to seem like they were leaving Willow an "out," where should could be with Tara for now and then go back to men later if the story didn't pan out; or so it wouldn't seem like a short term ratings ploy, that they could pretend never happened afterwards. I believe that happened on another show around that time. Joss has since said that if they were writing the show now, he'd be more inclined for Willow to identify as bisexual. What I think is notable contextually within the fight is the combination of the implications that this has been something of a concern of Tara's, and how that must affects Willow. We've actually been teased on this a little, at least once that I recall. In Buffy Vs Dracula, Willow goes on about how charming and sexy she found Dracula, and Tara questions this; prompting Willow to backtrack about her opinion on Dracula, and she appears a little uncomfortable or guilty. It's played for laughs, but there's indications of some real insecurities for both Tara and Willow regarding Willow's sexuality; and it comes back up in this fight. Even if Willow were bisexual, it's plausible that she'd feel like she can't equivocate with Tara, least of all out of concern for Tara's insecurity Willow might "change her mind" so to speak.

UTU49

I'm listening to your Pre-Show Presentation. About Buffy's kissing Spike being a "thank you kiss"... I often kiss my brother as a way of saying "thank you". Hoo, boy, I can tell you... he is very sick of it.

Ron Fehr

It's never addressed as of yet, but Tara seems to be unequivocally gay. Thus her concern about Willow's sexual stance.

Stargazer1682

As if what happened to Tara wasn't bad enough, it always gets me now rewatching season 5, that it's Tara who's most uncomfortable when they find out Glory's a brain sucker... 😟

Henrik Holst

I don't think that Tara have such a concern at all, she just responded "Should I" since Willow started going down a path in her rant that sounded like she should worry.

Ok I have more thoughts so here comes another comment. Let's talk about bi erasure! I am a woman of literally Buffy's age - I graduated high school in 1999, like the Scoobies - and I just realized/decided last year that I officially identify as bisexual. When I "came out" to my friends&family, the response was universally ".......but didn't we already know that?" Turns out all the sex I was having with women (and men) in my 20s must have clued in everyone but me 😂 For the last 20 years of my life I would describe myself as "mostly straight" or "I dunno, about 87% to 92% straight?" But I wasn't ~*queer*~. I was all white and not oppressed and married to a man. I didn't feel like it was my place to take up space in the queer community just because I think boobs are awesome. Doesn't everyone think boobs are awesome? I'm convinced that there are a whole bunch of middle aged women having similar realizations! So yeah, you can absolutely argue that Willow being "gay now" is a form of bi erasure, in that it perpetuates a black-and-white division between straight and gay. But I still think it was the right choice for the time period, even though it (apparently!) affected even my own life. In the cultural context of the early 2000s, "bisexual" would have meant "not taking the lesbian storyline seriously," and it was hard enough to get Tillow to air at all. If Willow were a friend of mine, I would 100% support her identity as gay, while secretly thinking to myself that maybe she's really more bi, but it's none of my business, and Willow gets to have her own journey. :-)
