Don't worry, all be better from now on! In fact, it's terribly simple: the good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after!

Remember that Domi we all knew before 'Passion' broke you forever? 🤔😂😂 Buffy should come with a health warning 😘😘😘

Now, do we suspect Ben and Glory have some sort of... connection?

Ron Fehr

Gee, where have I heard that before? Lol

Stargazer1682

They explain at the end of this episode what was in the chest; there were texts related to the ritual Glory and her minions are going to perform to use Dawn's Key to breakdown the barriers between dimensions. Giles was reading this and this is where he got the information that he explains at the end, where, "The portal will only close once the blood is stopped"

Bri

Liar.

Ron Fehr

Had Dawn not been made human, I suppose the texts would have changed to give instructions for the appropriate ritual.

Darrell Palmer

It was a good sized box, so I've always assumed that the texts would have had instructions for performing the ritual for each of the possible forms the key could have taken.

Stargazer1682

My interpretation of the general idea of the ritual is that it wasn't specifically referring to the Key or it's form, but rather it was a ritual of a specific type, where, knowing the so-called ingredients they have, and the outcome they wants, do XYZ. Using blood to open a portal isn't new to Buffy; Angel did that with Acathla in season 2. Just in general, supernaturally altered blood has its own inherently mystical properties that inadvertently trigger spells; like with Oz in "Fear Itself". "Blood magic," is probably its own broad subject for applied magic. Honestly though it always seemed disingenuous to me that Glory thought the Key might be an inanimate object. Since the Key was *living* energy, ostensibly anything it was transmuted into had to be living too; which kind of limits the options.

Ron Fehr

Yes, that was Dean Butler, the same actor who played Buffy's father in Nightmares.

As much as I enjoy watching reactions...is there a point, Domi, where you need to just NOT watch this show anymore for your own mental health? This is season 5. There are 2 more seasons, do you really think Joss is suddenly going to make everything sunshine and roses? I'm actually worried about you.

Ray D

I don’t say this lightly but if this season is doing this to your mental heath, I’m not so sure watching season 6 is something that you should do.

Vicky N

Buffy already told them in Intervention about the first slayer’s «death is your gift ». She didn’t hide it from them.

Ron Fehr

All she has to do is remind herself that this is fiction, a television show, and that might help. I don't know though, how well it will work. Perhaps it will get easier upon rewatching. Knowing the ending could help her power through. This is just intended as a piece of advice. It helped me upon my first watch, but I'm not saying it will work for everyone.

Ron Fehr

Considering the title of this episode, I think Buffy's middle name should be Atlas.

Bud Haven

I think Buffy is like Sisyphus, forever shoving a rock up to the top of the hill. She doesn't do it because she wants to but because she has to, it's needed. And you know the closer she gets to the top the more likely it is to roll back down.

Bud Haven

Buffy said she knew she was going to lose and for a moment she wanted it to happen. Does that mean she still believes Glory will kill Dawn in the end? Even after she woke up?

Ron Fehr

Bud Haven I enjoyed what you said, and I'm assuming you knew what I meant in my comment.

Next episode: the 100th episode!!! Domi, you should watch the “previously on” for next episode….😉

Ron Fehr

Up until this season you've been able to hold it together, but this one has obviously tested your limits.
