soooo it's been a few days since having watched this episode and unsurprisingly, i have NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET OVER IT!! the more i listen to the songs, the more i love them... so i decided to react to the behind the scenes video, with the making of this episode (as a patreon exclusive content!!). and of course... i got caught up giving some of my afterthoughts on the episode, now that i've had more time to sit with it (including exposing my spotify history to see what have been my most listened songs from the soundtrack so far haha - you'll never believe what's #1...).

fyi: the actual reaction to the behind the scenes video starts on 21:32. the first part of the video is just my afterthoughts.

hope you guys enjoy, thanks again for being here <3 and see you on sunday for 6x08!!! :)

I just want to say that receiving this post was a pleasant surprise. Waiting a whole week for another video from you can sometimes be torture.

Thank you for uploading this. I saw this a couple years ago and always love to see behind the series stuff, especially Buffy stuff.

Khanach

Oh, what a nice surprise! I'm so watching this tonight! :D

Antonio

OK, this was a delight - so happy you shared this with us! There are so many interviews, dailies (well, a few anyway) and reunion videos etc. to catch up on once you've finished Buffy. Hopefully you'll react to some of these too.

Jeff Pruitt was the stunt coordinator on Buffy. He has lots of home movies on his YouTube channel. I don't know if they are all spoiler free ( I assume they are because they are home movies that were filmed at the time), but I watched this one and it doesn't have spoilers. It's from Season 2. It's mostly the stunt people, but you see Sarah and David for a minute. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpb4Waro7HQ Also, starting with the final half of Season 6 and all of Season 7, there are hours and hours of "dailies" on YouTube. There's probably an hour or so of behind the scenes footage for each episode.

Listening to the ‘Once More, With Feeling’ soundtrack. You actually pick up a lot that you don’t while watching. For instance how fucking high Amber Benson’s voice is in ‘Where Do We Go From Here’ This chick be singing in the 6th octave yet she’s apparently a Mezzo Soprano. Holy shit. She’s honestly the best singer in this. Amber Benson is almost entirely in head voice in ‘Under Your Spell’ and all throughout the musical episode. She has very few modal/chest register vocals. So it makes sense why she gets a solo love song.  I would say she’s either a Light-Lyric Soprano or a Soubrette.  Doubtful she’d be a Coloratura, although she can most definetly get up there where only the higher tier Soprano’s are comfortable going. A5 and above.  As a classically trained Soprano vocalist myself -  I would pin her as a Light-Lyric since she can still get pretty low when needed. Quite the range on her.

Glad you are doing a deep dive into Once More with Feeling. This episode initiated my buffy obsession. I bought the dvd set so I could watch this on repeat. There are also sing-a-long events to Once More with Feeling, which I've been to one at a local bar. I know used to have them at Comic-con. Not sure if they still do.

I love Anthony Stewart Head's accent in this. And if you look closely in some shots you can see he has an earring. He's basically Ripper.

Bud Haven

So what is the minimum time you must wait to do a drunk rewatch?

Jacob Brown

I looked up my stats for Spotify. The Buffy the Vampire Cast is my 26th most listened to artist of all time. Most of that is probably Rest in Peace.

I love hearing Anthony Stewart Heads real voice. He puts on the very posh British accent hat Giles uses and his real voice sounds much more cockney.

Antonio

Those stunt people are honestly so good. When I first watched those videos I was blown away by how fast they were in the fight scenes - Sophia Crawford is legendary!

Bri

Actually he sounds more like Giles. The cockney is mockney!

I know the jury is still out on whether Joss Whedon is an asshole or a monster. But he's definitely a genius. I'll never understand how a show so empathetic and impactful came from one person whose so incredibly flawed
