... okay, someone needs to turn your stare into the camera at the married reveal into a meme. :-)

Thomas Zajetz

We saw Halfrek in the episode "Fool for Love". She was then Cecily, the woman William (aka Spike) wrote poems for.

Richard Ashton

I love your predictions. They're so uncanny.

Thom Purdy

Everybody loves Sam.

Michael

They weren’t the same person just the actress , i forget which writer said it in Buffy magazine but her saying William was put in as an inside joke

Captain Hammer

Buffy saying "I kind of love her too" is the kind of writing that really separates this show from others. People can be adults and respect and care for exes and also see that their new partner is better for them and great people in their own right. It would have been really easy for other shows to turn this into a spiteful relationship drama episode.

Captain Hammer

Spike was the doctor. "I'm holding it for a friend" is a common things criminals say when they are caught with contraband.

Darrell Palmer

It's a wedding 😀 How bad could it be? 😇

Ray D

Spike is The Doctor. He was just trying to deny it

Billy

"Joyce and Jenny are actually alive and dating each other" killed me. An all time line. And Spike is definitely The Doctor. If you recall back in DoubleMeat Palace he tells Buffy, "I can get money" and in classic Spike fashion the romantic and the immoral blend right in together. Thus doing some demon arms dealing to help Buffy with the finances and certainly also fund some good drinks and long nights of kitten poker. And potentially getting some gratitude from Buffy while making her more reliant on him doesn't hurt. Also this isn't important, but holy hell James Marsters is absolutely cut. I'd have trouble walking away too.

Billy

Also the title As You Were is a military phrase used by a superior to tell those of lower rank who are saluting the superior that they can stop

Ron Fehr

Buffy:"So they're like really mean tribbles." Tribbles appeared in an episode of the original Star Trek series. They were basically small balls of fur that would reproduce whenever they consumed any food.

Ron Fehr

I feel that Buffy needed to see Riley one more time, considering how his departure went last season. They needed to talk things out and make amends so that they could both move on emotionally.

Ron Fehr

She was right about it being mostly focused on one person. She just had no way of knowing that it would be Riley.

Ron Fehr

I've read comments from another reactor's group, in which it's theorized that it is the same person, and that Cecily may have actually have become Halfrek already. Or possibly became Halfrek shortly after.

Ron Fehr

Agreed. A priceless moment.

Girl4Music

Or he was holding it for Buffy

Ron Fehr

Considering how dangerous the Suvolte demon was, I wonder how Spike was able to get a hold of its eggs.

Richard Ashton

Doesn't Dr McCoy describe them as born pregnant?

Ron Fehr

I don't think so. I thought that I heard it explained that they needed to eat to reproduce.

Ron Fehr

"Did you die?" "No." "I'm gonna win."

Captain Hammer

They were described as born pregnant

Vicky N

“I’m sorry William”. Buffy is acknowledging his humanity. Nothing to do with the necklace. It’s only when Buffy says that using him is hurting herself that Spike stop trying to persuade her. A lot of beautiful subtle acting on both SMG and James Marsters. But what else is new.

Antonio

This would make more sense, as the inside joke would be a cheap fourth-wall breaking gag and I'm not sure it sits right with the show somehow.

Ron Fehr

That was a guess on Dr. McCoy's part. "Near as I can tell, they're born pregnant." To me at least, that sounds like he's guessing. And seeing that newborns generally need to feed, it couldn't be long in between birth and a first meal, making it hard to tell the difference.

Troika S

The show can only do so much more to highlight that Spike is a giant undead Red Flag with legs. There's nothing healthy there for Buffy, never has been. She's using him to feel anything through her numbness, feeding her self loathing by doing something she despises to foster self hatred, he's a mass murdering serial killer with a long history of abusing women that is deeply, dangerously obsessed with her in a way that, if this were not a supernatural story and just a drama, would be steaming toward a very predictably tragic place if she doesn't get away from him.

Khanach

Third one down! Not my favourite one, I was never a Riley fan (not a hater, either), but everything is forgiven because the “my hat has a cow” line. Also, we stan Sam in this house, unless is cute slandering from Willow. It’s an episode that feels weird, like an early season 5 crashing into season 6. The “William” thing from last episode was an Easter Egg, because Halfrek was played by the same actress that played Cecily in “Fool for love”. On to the next ! Which, considering Xander is my favourite character (yes, it’s me 🙋🏻‍♂️), it’s gonna be quite painful.

Alex Wright

That hadn't twigged for me til now.

Alex Wright

Also in a great Deep Space 9 episode where they travel back in time to that episode.
