I’ve tried to the game before and it was really good but I was always confused if I was actually making progress… what’s the best way to make progress as I’d defo like to try it again! Any advice is helpful

It was the Throne Room (for the first half of the game), but since the update revamps that it might be different. Once you had gotten values high enough money income was fairly high which allows faster feeding through means like the bakery.

I forgot about the books and then going into the courtroom and to do all available laws. Don't forget about those :) There are a few requests in the Throne Room you might want to deny once you have enough money (treasury) but want more political power or so. I'm not gonna spoiler everything. Though there is a definitive way to get lots of money at once and then buy food at the bakery. (which you can't do anymore once you progress a certain character too far) You will know what I'm talking about once you get there.
