For sci-fi themes or stories treating lycanthropy as a viral or pathogenic infection where the curse spreads through bites or scratches via bodily fluid transmission. It makes sense that it could also be sexually transmitted.

However, if it’s a supernatural theme, the curse can happen simply through a bite or scratch or even without either, like through performing a ritual or something similar.
