Finding Family: Chapter 9 begins!

Starting this July, I’m resuming my Patreon subscription and launching Finding Family: Chapter 9. This chapter will span 120 pages in total, with 10-page updates posted around the second Saturday of each month. The first post is scheduled for July 13, and billing will resume after June 30.

About Chapter 9

This chapter focuses on what each character has been going through during Charr and Alex’s absence. One of the main highlights this time is Johnathan’s romance arc.

As many of you know, Johnathan is a straight character, and his romantic partner in this arc is a woman. Yes, we’ve decided to include a date and a sex scene between them. When Alexei (the original writer) first suggested the idea, I was honestly surprised. But I’ve always been curious about Johnathan’s sexuality and inner life, so I found the idea compelling and wanted to explore it.

That said, I completely understand that many of you support my work because it focuses on male/male intimacy, and that heterosexual sex scenes may not be comfortable for everyone. I hear and respect that.

This particular sex scene is narratively and visually centered on Johnathan himself, not on the female character’s body. I’m not especially passionate about drawing female anatomy, but I have no problem depicting a female character if it helps to explore a male character’s emotional or erotic presence. I hope this helps ease some concerns.

And don’t worry—there will absolutely be a male/male sex scene in this chapter as well. It’s kind of like a bonus moment, but personally, it’s a pairing I’ve been wanting to draw for a long time. I really hope you’ll enjoy it!

Still, if heterosexual sex scenes are a hard no for you, I suggest pausing your subscription between Update #5–#7, when those scenes will be the main focus—or skipping this chapter entirely if you feel more comfortable doing so. I’ll post a reminder again when that part is about to begin.

About the attached images

This post includes a work-in-progress version of the first page of Chapter 9, shown without dialogue. The chapter opens with POV 1: Coal, as he quietly reflects on his life with Charr and Alex, before the story begins to unfold.

Also included are some Human AU (Alternate Universe) illustrations that Alexei and I recently created. They’re just for fun—non-canon fanart made by the creators ourselves, and a reminder that you’re always welcome to imagine and share your own interpretations too.

One more note on side content

I had hoped to create some standalone illustrations during the break, but most of my time went into preparing the new chapter. If things go smoothly, I’d love to revisit those side projects when I have more room to breathe. Alexei also has lots of fun side story ideas, but for now, we’re focusing on the main comic. I truly hope for your understanding.
