My Story - Pt. 3 (Patreon)
Content
I’m writing this from Martti Franca’s apartment/studio while talking to Coeli, who’s working beside me. It’s nice to be in a community of people.
This is the ideal setting to write about the next project: Until I Reach the Sun.
The new collection contains songs from 2012-2022. During that period, Greek mythology and Biblical stories held a special place in my heart. That’s the reason why I wrote Aphrodite. During that time, the stories of Icarus and the Prodigal Son spoke to me. Two bands who wrote about them during my high school/college days were Bastille (Icarus) and The Oh Hellos (the Prodigal Son). The topics of death and return resonated with me during those days.
Lots of songs in this 2nd album, including Prodigal’s Anthem, were supposed to be included in album 1, Reflections on Moonlight & Poetry. However, I felt that the stories related to Icarus and the Prodigal Son
Nowadays, I’ve felt closer to God than ever before. I returned back to the church, not because it was perfect, but because I know that God can make His presence known even through the most imperfect people. No group is perfect. But learning to love the most imperfect people, and realizing your own imperfections along the way, has a strange way of leading us closer to knowing and loving a perfect God.
That’s what I hope to do with this new album.
By being honest about my own journey, without any sugar-coating, I want to document my relationship with God in a natural, genuine, and personal way.
I think I’ll leave it here for now. I kind of want to let the album speak for itself. We’ll have an early release party on September 1, 9pm, Live on fb.com/theridleysmusic. See you there, okay?
