I think they need to bring back calling the company anniversaries birthdays. These days they insist against it because the theme parks weren't "born." But birthday is a cuter word...

charlie

opened your patreon to watch some older vids but was pleasantly surprised by the new upload :)

Alexandria Ritz

JENNY I just refreshed to see if you’d posted!!!! I’m a mind reader

VCC

Sebastian Shaskus

Hallelujah, the lord has answered my prayers 🙏

B Hair

Ok, I guess I don't have to go to sleep right now lol. Ill just be tired at work 😂

~Ash~

Alexandria Ritz

I was on way of waterpark when i got the notif

Gia

Get their ass!!

Larry Hastings

I can already tell this is gonna be a SCORCHING HOT TAKE

Connor Schoonveld

Okay, I’ll fall asleep to the mellifluous sounds of a Jenny ramble instead of MrBallen tonight.

roi is a picky eater

just in time for bed ( ◜‿◝ )♡

Daniel Ringer

Well, now I guess I know what I'm doing at 11:30 at night.

Shaun Cheah

Sounds like this latest ramble made a real splash. 🌊

Gary

In Australia...I was about to have an afternoon nap. Now I will have to reschedule it to an early evening nap. Life is tough.

Ella M

I distinctly remember ads for a similar Mickey viewmaster from my childhood, so either my memory's whack or that's a reproduction of a vintage item.

Macy M

Jenny's hat game is truly unbeatable

Joey Lippert

BTW they DID have a "Walt turns 100" celebration in Florida. It was called 100 years of magic and I still have merch from that trip.

Sasha

YESSS jenny you have such perfect timing, about to singlehandedly get me through my finals all nighter!! If I get through this project/class/degree it will be because you kept me sane along the way ❤️

demonsita

Omg I used to get so intimidated by the disney princesses too. I have a picture with Ariel from when I was like 7 and I was terrified of her

J B

Sometimes life can be pretty awful...and then a new Jenny video drops :) ty you

Hazel Singh

I would definitely be in favor of a video about Wish even if it took a while, because that movie stole 90 minutes of my life and I would love to commiserate with others about it.

Trystan

Just watch the other one again. We don't need a rehash of every video she's done before.

SweetAlissum

Ah, Inbetweens are a type of animation frame (what goes between keyframes of animation), and that's why it's a pun for the studio too. :)

Ella M

60 dollar plastic bands? Someone call Randy Moore.

retronymph

watched this while doing the dishes and then getting distracted by opening an old laptop, thank you for the insight as always honestly I would totally collect one of those pin sets if I was an annual pass holder and the theme appealed to me. I love pins.

Zach Varnum

The duck and the yellow-eyed cat are from the Peter and the Wolf short from Make Mine Music!

Magical Girl Mel

You dropped the evermore video like 3 hours before I got on a plane. I have 4 flights coming up. If you do that again, I'll think you're stalking me.

DeviPotato

My sister and I got that disney 100 viewfinder thingy as a last minute christmas gift for our mom and I can confirm it's pretty cool, the slides are little 3d vignettes and it has a little hard case to keep the slide wheels in which is nice

David A Behlman

I vaguely remember So Dear To My Heart. That was SUCH an exciting aside about the cabin being in the park. Then the gut punch: andthenwhentheybuiltStarWarslandtheytoreitdown

scoves

spoiler alert but the reveal at the end that you had made the orange bird hat made me gasp aloud

BROGGGGGY

I would love to attend Jenny's bug parade, it would be neat to have a scavenger hunt for hidden miniatures of the bugs around that you hunt down with a comically large magnified glass

Tomasz Ogrodowski

'a lot of businesses don't even make it 5 years' evermore catching (deserved) strays

A Targ

When is Disney gonna cave and hire Jenny as their creative director

Fay

I would love to see your script doctor/and or breakdown of Wish. I love watching you talk about movies.

Rose Cannon

Does anybody know if she’s still making the Barbie video? I haven’t heard her mention it in the ending update for a while

Zachary C

I was in Disney World like a month and a half ago and those statues didn’t even work, I tried like 5 of them and not a single one reacted at all to my fully charged band… The Star Wars bounty hunting thing you can do with it was alright but I was so bad at it and employee had to like gently take me aside and explain how to do it properly because I was so bad at it.

Ted Koutz

Out of curiosity I googled Official Black Cauldron Merchandise when Jenny mentioned it and this was the first thing that came up. I owned the PC adventure game as a kid so I might've owned all the Black Cauldron merch

Jesse

As someone who just watched Wish a couple nights ago, my first thought was “Jenny could probably do a whole video on this” Especially with the way they mishandle the villain jfc

Jo and Gareth

Ironically, we do have merrch from Tokyo Disneyland's 35th Anniversary. We were also in Disney World in 2022, when they 100 Anniversary was trying to encroach on the parks while the 50th was trying to each it out.

Skylin.

Im so happy. I won.

arnique

I love that short, and thanks for beating me to it! Miss the classical music cartoons.

Boring Alibi

I will say that there were some solid pieces of merch that were part of the decades collection, they just weren't listed because they appropriately sold out.

Jenna Stoddard

(re: magic band) I kept finding cute magic bands at Disney world in December and kept getting shocked by the prices, like what do you MEAN theyre all $50+ 😭

Chris Gonzales

Aaah the topic I wanted won !! I’d like to thank my fans and family

iris martengender

great ramble im really glad there are some people out there who love Aladar, the dinosaur from Dinosaur, as much as me

Nathaniel Snow

I will say that my kids (6 and 11) loved the statue interactions at WDW. They literally ran to them when they saw them across the park

Tal

I loved the Moana water walk, I had assumed it would be dumb but it actually ruled

wren h

the way i'm actually sad i won't get to attend the ugly bug ball

Ampersandrew

I have a commemorative decorated (non-lead paint!) glass right here in my hand from the McDonald's cross promotion!

Loomy

lol we probably should’ve been more specific in what we were talking about when saying it’s a flop year, like all their movies tanked and controversy was everywhere that’s what I think we meant but jenny mistakenly thought it was the literal celebration

Min Summers

Don't know if it's my little kid brain nostalgia talking but I felt like Disney parks went harder for just the concept of the New Millennium in 1999-2000 then they did for their own centennial. The Millennium Celebration parade soundtrack was a favorite cassette in family road trips.

Trystan

Whenever I watch Jenny talk about Disney it reminds me it's a horrible capitalist megacorporation that treats both customers and employees horribly for a quick buck and the sooner it goes bankrupt the better we'll all be for it.

Stephen

From the sound of it, ‘Obscure/cult Disney movies’ would make a great ramble topic.

Stephanie Oehmen

I got my magic bands+ for only a little more than the older ones online. The band lights up and vibrates when it is being used. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the statues to react, but I had fun with it :p

Isaac Jordan

In Chicago (and I’m sure other cities) they put up HUNDREDS of these ads on our public transportation that were completely white with one line of text in like the Courier typewriter font. Each one was one iconic line: “We can fly!” and “Bipidibopidiboo” and “I am your father” and stuff like that. They were super simplistic and I actually sort of appreciate them for that. But then they started getting changed. Like, every week. First I think they got insecure about how simple they were, so they just kinda slapped Peter Pan and Wendy and all the kids onto the corner of the “We can fly!” one. The “I” in “I am your father” was replaced with Vader’s light saber. So on and so forth. AND THEN they just got CONFUSING because they changed them AGAIN to be both the original reference AND whatever Hulu reference they could also stick on there??? “I am your father” now has a picture of American Dad and his fish on it?? “Bipidibopidiboo” except the “BOO” is all caps and in one of those creepy American Horror Story mouths?? I’m pretty sure “We can fly” now has the What We Do In The Shadows cast on it??? It’s a confusing mega-media conglomerate mess here. I’m just trying to get to work on while also trying to decode the several pieces of a Disney ad that started as one line of text.

Clouds in the Sky

I noticed that Disney is now doing almost the same stupid anniversary and nostalgia tactics with the Alien franchise. After they bought 20th Century Fox, Disney prevented local independent theaters from screening Alien and other Fox titles like these theaters used to as part of the company's general "Disney vault" strategy (https://www.vulture.com/2019/10/disney-is-quietly-placing-classic-fox-movies-into-its-vault.html). And now there's this new Alien movie coming from Disney that for some reason let the ppl behind the awful "Don't Breathe" movies write and direct it. Anyway, it was supposed to be only released on Hulu but now it's going to theaters along with a re-release of the original Alien movie from 1979. Because to Disney, this is a special year- it's Alien's 45TH ANNIVERSARY. Also, the new Alien movie trailer imitates that famous "In Space, NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM" trailer from 79. Honestly, from the trailer alone, I'd not be surprised if the marketing team at Disney for this movie are the same people who worked on Wish lol.

J

Awww can you imagine a wee five year old designing a mickey statue it would be so cute.

Jason

Wait why does everyone hate Fantasia 2000, the Firebird Suite has always been one of my favorite animation sequences

Jesse

This sounds hilariously misguided, I need pictures

Finn Moreau

I would LOVE for you to make a video about Wish specifically, talking about your ideas, and the initial concept art/ideas that inspired fan art reimagining the movie. Also, I like your idea for the use of "century", I feel like there's something with "Disney" and "Centennial"

marsverb

...am I nuts or hasn't the wishing star been a person all along? Was the star not supposed to be the Blue Fairy herself in Pinocchio when it was introduced? Or was that made up by some other adaptation?

run_away

I'm glad someone said this because I remember that too... Maybe she just created it or something?

S G Matthews

Look that hat! I can’t believe you made it!

Bumblepuppy

I'm going to guess it's the Flamingo Yo-Yo and Pomp and Circumstance sequences? But I don't care, the Rhapsody in Blue sequence is so fun!

Emma

We had the Classic Disney Series Volume 1 CD and would play that often on road trips and I didn’t know what movie the Ugly Bug Ball was from but because all of my experience with Disney as a child in 00s was animated features I assumed it was from a movie I hadn’t seen and so I always pictured these little cartoon bugs doing the dances and hearing that it’s from a live action movie has shaken me to my core

OtterofLore

Ok this is highly specific but has Jenny ever been to or talked about going to the Chicago Field Museum's Underground Adventure bug exhibit? Because IIRC that has like animatronic bugs and big bug statues. I feel like she'd really like it. *Also Chicago has some of the last mold-a-ramas so shes gotta get over here to get them*

LW

Extremely bold of you to call the sexy French spider from James and the Giant Peach scary.

OtterofLore

Me too, I watched this literally four days ago and I was blown away at how mediocre it was. Glad I watched it in time for this ramble!

Ella M

Honestly this sounds like how you'd demonstrate someone slowly losing their mind in a movie.

Siobhan is On

Calling it now: she's gonna aim for Starcruiser release on May the 4th (be with you) 🤪

Isaac Jordan

I’m not sure if links work in Patreon comments but here’s one of the originals in L.A.: https://www.alamy.com/los-angeles-california-usa-17th-february-2024-we-can-fly!-disney-billboard-on-february-17-2024-in-los-angeles-california-usa-photo-by-barry-kingalamy-stock-photo-image596875064.html And then here’s one of the hair-brained new ones: https://www.alamy.com/los-angeles-california-usa-29th-march-2024-disney-ohana-means-family-guy-bus-stop-on-sunset-blvd-on-march-29-2024-in-los-angeles-california-usa-photo-by-barry-kingalamy-stock-photo-image601429212.html

Kevin

Oh man, my first look at Toontown came from an episode of Blossom where they all went to Disneyland to watch their dad perform as Elvis. When they showed the gas pumps with the fish n them, I lost my damn 10 year old mind

Matthew S. Dentice

I remember going to the parks as a kid during the celebration that was going on in 2000/2001 and being really sad at the end of our trip because I thought there'd never be a special event like that there again. Then my parents told me that Disney would just start another celebration after that one ended. That is how I learned that anniversary celebrations are the default state at the parks and that it's more of a special occasion when they don't have one. I totally agree that they should have used "Disney Century" or something like that as the celebration name. When our language has such cool words like "century" or "centennial" to describe a hundred-year period, why would you not use them? Oh well, one more footpath untrod....

Ello Asty

I'm good with the original deep-dive and the 1 revisit. I get the picture about what the church is doing already. Plus, Jenny wasn't even that enthusiastic about this year's play.

Matthew S. Dentice

100 Years of Magic is the first one I remember attending. I think I've also still got some merchandise from it somewhere.

MrTophatter

I would kill for new official return to oz merch, it's one of my favorite movies and they pretend it doesn't exist because it's very weird and didn't do well.

Ello Asty

I think there are probably other creatives just as imaginative as Jenny but they gotta deal with executives pulling rank and saying "That idea sucks. You MUST do it this other way" and "there's no money for that. Slash your budget in half."

mango

The orange bird hat looks really good!!!

Richard R.

I remember in Japan they had anniversaries for everything, 3 year Gundam cafe, 7 year subway anniversary. It was so funny

David Cock

"Why do sites show you so much stuff you forget what you were looking for?" Ooh ooh I know this one: It's called the Gruen Transfer and it's a technique in shopping mall design to disorient you and make you susceptible to impulse buying. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gruen_transfer

Mouskemeg

Jenny roasting the scary Mickey and Minnie dolls and then finishing her review with “anyway I actually love these” made me do a spit take with laughter

Tyler Svedin

The creepy doll jack-in-the-box didn’t help either. But the Firebird one is amazing

t0tally 3rica

I am not a big fireworks person (too loud) but the fireworks in MK (I think it's HEA) are elite because of the projections on Cinderella's castle.

Clara Margot

hey, Flamingo Yo-Yo was fun :( agreed about Rhapsody in Blue, that was my favourite by far as a seven year old. I also liked the Steadfast Tin Soldier even if some of the animation looks a bit odd now

Clara Margot

Ugly Bug Ball is from Summer Magic, which I absolutely love but you're right. The movie should've cut to an animated sequence for that one song ETA: i did not finish this video before commenting this, she totally names the movie lmao

Octavia Helena

they brought back HEA but they should've brought back ILLUMINATIONS!!!

Emma

Yeah she mentions that I just assumed it was from an old animated bug movie I'd never seen. So funny cuz I have all these beautiful Disney style animations in my head and they were never real

The Killer Dynamo

The duck and the orange-eyed cat are from the Peter and the Wolf short! That's Peter they're standing next to. I want to say the duck's name is Sasha? I had a book on tape version when I was a kid that explained all the musical instruments representing the characters.

Bob at Evermore

was just at toontown less than a month ago with my five year old daughter and they have several different play spaces that are extremely well done. it was her favorite thing in the park and we couldn't tear her away. especially the rainbow roller slides and you can go into goofy's house and play with all of these different appliances that move these ping pong balls through tubes from one appliance to another.

Muireann McGlynn

Leave Darby O'Gill and the little people off the list please 😭

Ava Salazar

Someone gotta submit Wish script doctor for next month we need it 🙏

Ann Parker

Rhapsody In Blue is head and shoulders the best, but I also love Flamingo yo-yo and Pomp and Circumstance! I always thought the whales were boring, though.

Ann Parker

I would love a Wish video as well! I’ve been watching a ton of videos where people go through how terrible the lyrics to all the songs are (through poor vocabulary, not scanning rhythmically, not using words correctly, and being generally clunky). I’d love to see one centralized, Evan Hansenesque flensing of it.

R Enos

I know theres absolutely no way to make merch of it and it absolutely does not make sense but I would be first in line for National Treasure merch. I would wear a "I'm going to steal the declaration of independence" tee down to the threads

Isla C

“They can have one where you step on Ray” 😭😭

Stephen Joseph Smith

The Disney 100 museum exhibition was a worthwhile visit for me; that’s also how I knew what maquettes were before watching this Jenny ramble.

Leif Thomas

Poor James and that Giant Peach bugs. Too ugly to attend the Ugly Bug Ball 😆

Dol Blathanna

OMG justice for Tadashi 😭🙏 excluded from the photo for being dead even though they brought back Mother Gothel (abuser and kidnapper) and Frollo (abuser, kidnapper and racist) poor Hiro 😭

Jenny Nicholson

It wasn't 100% done when I last went but seemed much livelier! It looked like they were doing something cool in Donald's yard too

Jenny Nicholson

They tore it down to build Marvel Land, which initially I was in favor of because I didn't think bugs land was a very strong land But actually Marvel Land is way worse and more boring looking and has way less to do so it actually sucks

Bob at Evermore

couldn't agree more that the weird cameos in "wish" detracted from the story the movie was trying to tell way more than it contributed anything

Jenny Nicholson

I think a lot of people wanted more of the sequences to be less literal stories and more impressionistic. Like they thought it felt less grand than classic Fantasia, which I guess it was, but it was still good

Rebekah Fisher

Oh! A topic I can contribute to! I went to Disney World with my family in December 2023. We're of the "once in a blue moon" type, so we went as all out as we could. One, I got the Orange Bird Magicband+ because of Jenny. No regrets there. Two, a lot of the statues didn't seem to be working anymore, especially the ones in highly populated areas. But there was one of Figment! So that was nice. And also, the Moana thing was pretty cool! My nieces and nephews had fun, there were two paths so if you didn't want to get wet, you could choose the dry one. And at the end there was this huge (presumably fake) topiary in the shape of the green goddess (not attempting to spell her name). It was absolutely gorgeous and well worth it. Also, I too went to Disney World when I was very small and was scared of Mickey Mouse, but had no issues with Jafar.

Mina

So mad about the stupid reservation system. I don't live in Southern California anymore but my mom & sisters had annual passes for years and we would go a lot. I don't think they go at all anymore. I also really hate how you need your phone out constantly for everything (fast pass, restaurant orders, etc.) They weren't even really using it to keep things more socially distanced during COVID. I went with a group in like early spring of 2021 and the park was more packed than ever. My phone was pretty much dead by the end and I remember explaining to confused old people that you couldn't just stand in line for certain food places, you had to order on your app and THEN pick it up; or that certain lines were only for people who did the fast pass thing on their phone.

Jenny Nicholson

About 6 months before they told us about star wars land I noticed termite damage on an upper corner of the cabin and was told by older leads that they'd want to cut it out and treat the cabin. So I submitted the work order, and maintenance replied like "the park is not going to treat it at this time." Hmmm, I thought.

Jenny Nicholson

Huh I wonder if the label on the sign is for a physical building where they do that or also a pun restaurant

27limes

i DO like the orange bird hat I couldnt tear my eyes away from him

Elizabeth Havens

that makes soo much sense, I was so confused when I saw my theatre had it playing since I knew they locked it up earlier. God, everything fun is ruined and then monetized cynically.

Mina

I thought this at first too but then I just enjoyed her rambles about the mech being weird and awful (those tall Minnie & Mickey dolls will haunt my dreams). I had friends who worked at the park during the 50th anniversary and there was some pretty cool stuff then like the golden mouse ears (I guess that year was gold for whatever reason... maybe the same reason diamonds is 60?) To be fair to Jenny, the one movie they really pushed as their '100th anniversary special movie' was Wish, and she spent awhile talking about how awful that was. Idk how much there is to say about the movies tanking either; aside from Wish the bigger flops were on the Marvel/Lucasfilm side anyways.

Cate C

I saw this ad in video form (just the movie quotes, not the weird Hulu tie-ins) and I joked to my mom that it looked like they had accidentally released a very early draft without any of the actual clips

bluewolfie

not to be a merch cast member on main but the magic bands do have broader functionality! the magicband+'s are the only ones that work on both coasts. they do the fab 50, they also have a special game called batuu bounty in swge that lets you play as a bounty hunter (it's hide and go seek, but yk, it's fun!), they have interactive color schemes that go with each of the spectaculars (so at world of color or fantastic or happily ever after your magic band will buzz and light up in time with the fireworks) and I think they're working on cruise ship functionality? now here's the OTHER thing about magic bands. they'll still die after 8-10 yrs when the battery dies. that charger on the +'s is literally only connected to the lights/buzzing/extra features. it's still got a normal RFID core battery that's identical to the og magic band. so if it dies you'll still be able to get into the parks, which is nice. but when that og battery dies there's no fixing it

skye

I feel really gaslit about the star to be honest. Especially because ray the firefly falls in love with the star? Right? And they end up together? That was the big “emotional payoff” of Princess and the Frog and Ray was featured for years as the second star I think. Disney is making me second guess that tho

Laura Elizabeth

I hope you do a Wish video at some point! I heard rumors that when Jennifer Lee took charge she hired a ton of inexperienced animators, creatives, and artists from tumblr, who clashed with the company veterans (partly due to an age gap). I can't get this out of my head because Wish really, really seems like a movie a group of new yet emboldened tumblr creatives would write. They just wrote a one-sided hyperbolic version of them joining Disney and changing it the way they think it should be? (Asha even animates something in the movie! And the villain just dismisses her rudely! Like a disgruntled animator might view their boss! Asha's friends are also peasants serving the king.) The more I've thought about it, the more Wish's mediocre, empty, frustration-driven story makes sense. What on earth is going on over at Disney??

Laura Elizabeth

You can visit the National Archives for some movie-related merch haha

Michelle Deapen

I really had a solid 5 minutes of confusion trying to figure out how Jenny worked during the 60th anniversary, to finally realize that the park obviously is not the same time scale as Disney as a whole.

teacupful

My only opinion of the anniversary is that a cast member blamed an anniversary-specific treat for taking away the Citrus Swirl at the exact time I was visiting with my mom. My mom is not a theme park person (or an unhealthy food person) but she loved the Citrus Swirl so much the first time she had it that she got TWO in one day. So I blame the anniversary for taking away the one thing my mom loves about Disney. 8I

Alexandrea

fellow 60th cast member 🙌🏼 objectively the best anniversary celebration (and not just bc of my giant rose tinted glasses)

Anne

I went to Toyko Disney for the 35 year anniv (of the resorts? im not super clear on how they are organized) and DO, in fact, have merch that says ✨35 years✨ because it was on eeeeverything— got a cute sturdy tote bag out of it though

Kiki

Jenny’s pure joy for bug night almost overrode my primal fear of insects! At least we agree that eating bugs is not it lol

sawyer tsaregorodtseva

learning that my great-grandmother was born in the same year as mickey is crazy. i don't know how disney will celebrate his next birthday but i will make sure my family also celebrates it on my nana's birthday this year

Natalie Arnold

That's how I remember Pinocchio too!

Natalie Arnold

"It's not BRAND enough. Put more Catchphrase in"

Larry Bewarey

i dont think ill ever not be angry about the great movie ride, i wont even look at mickeys rail road. also one day youll realize wreck it ralph is a work of genius. one day you will.

Luis

So jealous of Skippy and all his snacks 😩 Also I've said it once and I'll say it again, put Jenny in charge of Disney!!

Jenny Nicholson

Skippy just gets my cast offs on that side of the desk. I thought the sweetarts jellybeans would taste like chewy sweetarts and they didn't, I thought the sour patch jellybeans would be sour and they weren't

Luis

I'm finding it harder and harder to find good sour candy. Even if i find one I like the next bag or box might not be as good as the first 🫠

Evan Chappelear

Four-year-old Jenny could have been a pro street photographer.

Belle Taylor

Wait!! They DID have a Walt's 100th celebration! It was right after 9/11. I remember because my little kid dance team got to go and dance for it and I have a bunch of merch

Olivia

I believe she's still going to make it, but it's going to be a long time. It got mentioned in the "video idea graveyard" vid last year. She'd shot a lot of it but got severely burned out and dissatisfied with the project, so it's on indefinite backburner status.

Elizabeth Havens

I didn't realize So Dear to My Heart was the name of the movie and thought Jenny was about to mention a character/object she really loves (which I guess the cabin is that a bit)

Woody Sims

I was gonna say, my first ever trip to a Disney park was Disneyland right around that time. I remember the hat being built in Downtown Disney, and my mom’s nail clippers being confiscated.

Schroyers

The cat and duck in the once upon a studio group photo are from Peter and the Wolf!

O

The way to make Jenny's idea where you get all the mascots out is simple: make a Micky Mouse cartoon to play before a one of the big film releases. In it, Micky falls asleep while reading a Spiderman comic and has a dream based off Into the Spiderverse. In it, he teams up with all the old iterations of Micky to fight the Fantasia dragon. Boom! You can get your scary 60s mascots costumes back into the park

Jenny Nicholson

Same I swear they nerfed all the candy? For a while I thought I just killed my taste buds with too much sour but randomly I'll get one package of something that tastes just the way I remember, then the next time it's not sour at all

O

I haven't even gone to Hollywood Studios since they took it out. That was my favorite ride and there's nothing else they can put in that park to bring me back. I just want to sit in the Casablanca scene again in that big windy room :( what did they even do with Ingrid Bergman or Gene Kelly's animatronic? I can see them keep Judy's in good condition because Wizard of Oz will never not be relevant, but I hope they're all saved and not rotting in some back warehouse

Miranda Kanowsky

JENNY PLS REACT TO CHURCH OF THE ROCK'S EASTER PLAY THIS YEAR - MURDER ON THE JERUSALEM EXPRESS

Alex Karukas

Jenny you gotta check out Wondrous Journeys because your ideal fireworks show you pitched for Disney 100 was pretty dang spot on

Christina

One of the fish gas pumps is now in Eat Ticket!

Lauren Stracner

I did pick up 20,000 Leagues and Aristocats ears from the Disney100 merch collections so the cult classics weren't completely ignored, at least. Ironically the only piece of Black Cauldron merch was an ugly MagicBand+.

Sophie Raymer

I’m not sure if someone else has said but the statues in park were part of Disney world’s 50th, not the D100! They put up a couple of statues in Disneyland for D100 but they didn’t have the magic band+ tricks

Dean Novak

such a shame Disney rested on the Fall Out Boy discography for this celebration

Chloe Cassandra Koons

Maybe I’m crazy, but I have a memory that when they were first advertising Wish, Asha was the king’s daughter or something. I haven’t watched the movie but I’ve been told this is wrong so idk.

James Cézanne-Taipale

Its hilarious that they made film that implies the idea that all the characters are doomed to live Billy Pilgrim style and are only released for photo ops and it’s the only thing they have to look forward to in their existence.

Ham

I appreciate the attention to live-action films and shows in the decade-by-decade revue, but you said you were going to circle back to The Shaggy Dog and I don't think you did? Also looking for Old Yeller, Absent-Minded Professor, Freaky Friday, The Apple Dumpling Gang... Oh and a light-up bracelet based on the collar from The Cat From Outer Space seems like a no-brainer for merch.

Tardsmat

One really cool thing about the anniversary short is that it's full of tons of very detailed new 2D animation, down to using the scratchier line style for some characters. It's very cool to see and gives me hope that maybe we'll see 2D animation again from Disney.

Clouds in the Sky

Wait Jenny, is Return to Oz worth watching? I know the director behind it has a very prolific career as an editor working on Appocalypse Now, Talented Mr. Ripley and Ghost (I remember Maggie Mae Fish did with him an interview). But I've heard that Return to Oz bombed so hard at the box office, he just returned to his already established editing career but never directed/wrote a movie again. So I'm curious to know if the movie's actually good, or just one of those things that got labeled a "cult classic" just because of its history.

Clara Margot

Return to Oz is unironically one of my favourite films, but it definitely isn't for everyone. A lot of fans of the Oz books really like it because it's a lot closer to the books in visuals/tone than the 1939 film. If you enjoyed The Dark Crystal and The Neverending Story, you'll probably find something to like in Return to Oz. Also theme park fact: the only reference to Return to Oz that still exists in any of the parks can be found in Disneyland Paris, on the fairytale boat ride Le Pays des Contes de Fées. The Emerald City is one of the last miniatures you'll pass!

Erin Cavan

i was working at the disney head office in london during disney100 so i am more hyper aware of things that were happening and the merch because of that but they did do a few more things! we kept getting told about this disney100 experience which was like one of those things people walk through only for tiktok to take loads of photos, they had a disney100 concert series that travelled through europe, and there was a disney100 travelling museum exhibit (which i think is still travelling??) but that started in america and was brought to europe afterwards. there were a lot more specific merch items but i think they’re all sold out now so you didn’t see them on the website! they brought out a few different loungeflys for each decade, some ears as well - i was very tempted to buy the muppets electric mayhem loungefly but the fringe made me think it wouldn’t last very long. i feel like i’m definitely forgetting some things (and also it’s all based in the uk so understandable that you didn’t know about any of it) but i just thought i’d mention what i could remember!

Rice G.

very sad that i will never go to the ugly bug ball :(

meg

Well I just learned a cool new word (flensing)

Catherine Escobar

I think the cat and the duck are from Peter and the Wolf.

Christina

I like to use my imagination that the clear fish tank gravel is now the water

Cowboy Jaz Luo

When she was going through her decades highlights and listed Frozen 2, I literally thought "What? Frozen doesn't have a sequel. Oh wait. Yes it does. I watched it in theaters." 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thomas Benko

It's so forgettable, so I don't blame you. I saw it too and I couldn't tell you the plot.

Elise

re Fox and the Hound: I've never enjoyed the plot of the film but I distinctly remember watching the VHS over and over again because the animation and the little scenes were very striking and "tactile" to me? Idk I guess I wanted to be a little catterpillar snuggling near a plant and warming up during winter times

David A Behlman

The Shaggy Dog didn't make her list of 50's movies, but I think the doubling back to that plush is that it is representative of her plan to have niche shirts, hats, plush, etc decade by decade from movies people still care about from those times.

L. C.

Best quote: "What a tree!"

run_away

I deleted my previous hat comment because I'm dumb lol. Great video though, this is one where I thought I'd come in knowing what would be said and then learned stuff for an hour and a half

Aaron Claus

So glad to see love for Return to Oz!! I loved that movie as a kid but Disney seems embarrassed by it so idk if I'll ever get a giant plush of The Gump

Skylin.

I was hoping to hear the dripping minnie ears "scandal" that was super early into the 100th flopiversary. Lol i might ne the only one who remembers.

Skylin.

LOVED hearing about ur imaginary ugly bug ball, it sounds magical.

Keith Hasperg

I was so happy to hear you mention The Fox and the Hound. When I was a kid, we had the books of all the Disney movies. I remember I used to just look at it and love Todd and Copper. It was always so weird to see the dog grown up. We had a cat then, and I think it started my love of dogs. Now I need to go back and watch it. Great video again, Jenny :)

Megan Willis

Little late of a response, but the cat and the duck are Ivan the cat and Sonia the duck from Peter and the Wolf! Peter's also holding the songbird, Sasha. I used to watch that short a bunch as a kid!

Larry Bewarey

Also the cowboy and gangster actors! They had cast members act with animatronics! I'm livid. They dont even do the backlot tour anymore. If they get rid of tower of terror then whats the point of the ding dang park!

Autumns Patreon whatever

I decided to watch wish after seeing this, and wow, I think it's the most offensively bland and rushed thing disney has made

Mechelle Adams

Those are just rumors. It’s much more exciting to blame a project’s failure on something as easy as “hiring new people from tumblr” rather than something boring but more realistic like a bunch of executive meddling and rushed timeframes. To have a view of what probably happened, I recommend watching the Frozen 2 docuseries. It’s a sanitized version of what was a very hellish moviemaking cycle where everyone looks like they’re being held against their will as the unshakable release grows closer and closer. It’s an interesting watch if you want to see how these movies have been getting made recently.

Brian L Hughes

I liked the computer who wore tennis shoes, a young Kurt Russell.

Devin M

Maybe it’s because I was an OM kid, but I love the Disney pins and I don’t even care about Disney that much lol (I do not have any, but if I were to collect something it would be the pins).

Alice Parkin

Thank you so much for the ramble, that hat is magnificent!! You've mentioned it a couple of times and I always find it really sad that Disney's penny-pinching is impacting creative environments at the parks. Especially because they must be almost uniquely placed in how much money and how many resources (IPs, land, clout etc) they have at their disposal.

Millie

An attraction where you can step on Ray!!! Just incredible. I want the Evangeline song playing and then when you squish him it immediately cuts off and a cartoon "splat" sound plays. Ray sucks

Dan Gibbins

Loved the bespoke Disney collection background (especially the Orange Bird hat, did not guess it was homemade) and Editing Jenny low-key roasting On-Camera Jenny through captions. The 50 character statues were in Disneyworld when I was there a year ago, and sure yeah they'd play a sound when you waved (or when the person next to you waved more effectively) but the Play Disney app would also track how many we'd found and that triggered the part of my brain that cannot stop playing Super Mario until I have found every last Star, so... that became a thing. Fortunately (?) only Magic Kingdom made any effort to scatter or hide them. But hey, I was glad to see Orange Bird and my boy Figment make the roster.

Tbing34

They also brought back Soarin' Over California in EPCOT...which is nice but when it's the only thing you do for the 100th anniversary of your company it doesn't really make sense y'know?

Mechelle Adams

I was very jealous of your orange bird hat throughout the video, I did NOT expect that to be handmade at all oh my goodness it looks so good. I wanna know who that one shrimp looking plush beneath Bibble is, the one in the bandana who looks like a friendlier version of the homophobic TROS slug. He was staring into my eyes the whole video and I’m enraptured.

Rose Cannon

Thank you for responding! I’m glad she’s focusing on videos she cares about

Michelle Deapen

I agree that a Wish video would be great, especially a script doctor (or even a novel script like with your Applejack Problem video). Its crazy how much of the movie got gutted to celebrate the 100 birthday and just had no room for actual plot because of it.

David A Behlman

I assumed they figured the "progression" would feel more organic. Meaning, all this increased craziness appeared to me to be part of this ad campaign. As the signs slowly advertise more and more things to highlight that they have a lot of content.

Birdie

Personally I'd be so interested if you made a video about Wish!! I know you have so many video ideas and things in progress but, *if YOU really do feel interested in doing it*, even maybe just a short video like the ones you made for live action Dumbo, Frozen 2, Incredibles 2 for example would be so interesting! I think a script doctor with a list (trending friendly!) would probably be great but we know sometimes projects snowball but honestly I personally would think it'd be a good "filler" video for your main channel while working on fnaf and starcruiser since we know you're concerned about the length of time of things too. You usually have more bespoke observations about movies than i.e. general review channels that make people interested in what you have to say even if its a shorter video imo!!

emergre

I would have bet money on this as well! Might be a Mandela Effect thing tho

Towers of Hanoi

"Immortals" was actually the FOB song on the Big Hero Six soundtrack, though "Centuries" was on the same album American Beauty/American Psycho

Kelsey Duffy

Yeah, those rumors sound like the kind of thing Universal was putting out when they were blaming the visual effects team for Cats(2019)'s failure. The movie was flawed at it's core, and the studio was unwilling to compromise time frames for a rewrite. And when they couldn't market it successfully and it under preformed, suddenly there's a group of "new hires" who were "inept" and that's why the movie failed. The movie crunch at disney/pixar has been bad for YEARS, and the majority of their recent movies have done worse then they expect and the company just keeps trying to ride their few hits as long as they can. But one success out of every 4 movies isn't cutting it anymore, and the creatives are burnt out.

Raysofmarie

I think Belle prefers the Beast version of Adam like the rest of us. I’d like to think that’s why

Skippy

Watching Kronk's new groove and the part with birdwell singing is 10x closer to celebrating Disney animation than Wish!

BizHyzy

Apologies if someone said this already, but the duck and yellow-eyed cat are from Peter and the Wolf!

Robert Lee

My kids wanted to watch Wish this last weekend. My six year old excused herself to go to bed about 15 minutes in, and my eight year old made it another 15 minutes and asked me to turn it off.

Javiera Scarratt

not that it matters remotely but iirc from my tumblr days, i think centuries is a normal song and the big hero 6 song was called immortal or something?? i remember it mainly bc whatever instrument plays the melodic riff at the beginning and throughout is tuned slightly differently to the rest of the instruments/vocals, so they're a few cents apart for the entire song. it drove me insane, it clashes extremely badly and is impossible to ignore once you notice it

Evan

100 is an important number because 10 is how many finger we have for counting :)

Laura Elizabeth

I've seen the Frozen 2 doc and that's why I believe it. This isn't anything Disney wanted to use as blame. They were using it as a selling point to show how unique their team was. The rest are leaks from people at the studio. Wish was made by Jennifer Lee's team of people moreso than other recent Disney films. Think about that same terrible story process from Frozen 2 but without any seasoned writers or animators to balance it out. Jennifer Lee's the core problem, but the evidence isn't just in 'rumors by the studio/rival studio'. The evidence is the movie Wish itself. The story is 100% something a group of tumblr-types might dream up while frustrated with old guard managers who they didn't agree with. Especially emboldened as a team. In a lot of marketing, the creatives bragged about having an 'activist character' and it shows what their priority was in creating the story. They tried way, way too hard to pivot from classic fairytales, and the result was Wish.

EV

I remember my friend had an annual pass for Disney World and we were both local at the time but every time I wanted to go, most of his days were blacked out so he and I had to buy single-day tickets anyway since we weren't going to take off work to go to Disney World on a Thursday.

JoshuaMartian

I just rewatched 'Princess and the Frog' and I'm here for Ray slander. Why is he the only character besides Tiana, the lead, who gets TWO songs? In a movie with Keith David in the cast??

Jessica

Same! I had low expectations and it's actually really nice! The kids loved it and it's so pretty and atmospheric at night.

Tori Rittenger

I’ve never seen Summer Magic, but I did have a Disney song along vhs with ugly bug ball and I know EVERY WORD! 😂

Jennie White

something i was thinking about when jenny was discussing the bronze statues and the missed opportunity to have 100 different artists do different renderings/interpretations of characters -- does anyone remember the random period of time in DCA in the early 2000's where they had a ton of mickey statues scattered around the park that were all painted with unique designs? i feel like it was that sort of thing, where disney asked a bunch of different artists to put their spin on what was otherwise a blank-slate, standard statue of mickey, and it ended up being just a really fun scavenger hunt type of thing where my family and i would keep looking around the park for the different statues and choosing our favorite ones. knowing early 2000s DCA this event probably lasted for all of 2 weeks without any promotion or marketing material but it was a cool addition to those visits!

Jennie White

edit: ok cool this was not a fever dream but it also wasn't quite as "artistic" as I remembered; some of the statues were designed by particular artists but a lot of them were just made as references to notable figures within the disney/ABC corporation --- https://yesterland.com/mickey75.html

Miles Proctor

Skinny Minnie upsets me greatly. I still have my Minnie plush from '95 -my uncle bought it for my 1st birthday and she has proportional legs and ankles.

fiskehund

someone put "Jenny ..something something.. Wish" on the next poll. I know everyone's already beaten that movie to death but I'd still enjoy jenny's take on what went wrong and what could've been done better.

Mike Wagner

When you said "Ugly Bug Ball" I audibly gasped. I am the target demo for that party. I want to be the doorman telling the bugs from James and the Giant peach they are too ugly for the Ugly Bug Ball.

Mechelle Adams

Thank you!!!! I did not expect that to be where he's from haha

Audrey lopata

We always watched this in grade school music class! It was terrifying! The wolf’s theme still gives me chills 😝

Aimee W

the santa clause placemat would go so fcking hard under my cookies for santa

Silsool

The duck, cat and boy from the picture are from the animated Peter and the wolf

Siena Klaber

I've missed you so much ❤️ glad to be on the teammm

Sam Rappold

Why do so many people dislike Ray the firefly from Princess and the Frog? He's not my favorite animal sidekick, but I thought he was funny, I thought his little arc about being in love with the North Star was cute and I was sad when he died.

Lazlo Nibble

So glad to hear Witch Mountain get a “cult classic” nod for the ‘73-‘83 decade, that was my seminal Disney movie in a million different ways. If they made a film-accurate replica of Tia’s Star Box as merch it would bring me to tears lol

SweetAlissum

Oh that's true! I wasn't sure the context and I went straight to assuming it was a break area too or something but it could really be an old animation building for that exact thing.

Ray West

i work at a research lab and the director retiring and they made an eras tour tee shirt parody collage of her face through the years for her retirement. i didnt realize until your video that it was a thing lol

Chamus

Re: Wish, it is unfathomable hearing that the main character is an artist, who makes magical wishes and lives in a controlled and kind of suppressive regime, and her wishes AREN'T to make her creations come to life and bring excitement and wonder to a world that needs it. How many people were asleep at the wheel to let that one slip them by?

LKB

That’s why Jenny needs to be the executive in charge of creating

LKB

YEEESSSSSS

Ariana Quintanar

I also unironically LOVE Return to Oz. It is very dark, which probably hurt the movie in the box office tbh, but as Clara said, it is closer in tone to the books.

Cynethryth

Deciding to add the villains to that photograph is ahh...that was definitely a choice...I love how the entire point of Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame is that Quasimodo isn't the monster and deserves to be accepted by the community he's been hidden from his whole life, but in this photo, they've just put him up in the sign. The only human character up there. Still isolated from other human beings. MEANWHILE Frollo, a man who traps a family inside of their home and sets it on fire amongst other crimes against humanity, still gets to be a part of the big crowd of people. And he is VERY close to the woman he physically assaults, has extremely messed up thoughts about, and nearly sets on fire.

MrTophatter

I need a giant plush of the gump yes please, i also want a tik-tok clock in some form

MrTophatter

It's one of my favorite movies, as Clara Margot said if you like stuff like Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, and Neverending Story, you'd probably like Return to Oz.

Shan

I saw the gas station fishes at Toon Town in Tokyo Disneyland. Maybe u could still find them there?

Mars

live Deep Dive Disney reaction

Iris

How much would we each have to pitch in to make The Ugly Bug Ball a reality? Because that sounds like a great party.

fiskehund

Jenny mentions around 21:00 that google sucks now, and recently the internet told me that adding "Before:2022" will improve your search results because that was the point at which a certain AI became available to the public. I have zero clue if this is true, but I do find it improves my google results.

Thomas Thomas

idk if someone said this but the duck and cat are from peter and the wolf! p fun lil animation i liked it as a kid

Mak

I work in retail and we had so many weird Disney 100 merch. So many Funko pops, lots of like their regular stuff that said Disney 100 on them. Specifically we still have a ton of princess themed self care items like face masks and bath bombs and stuff. They really don't sell lol

Kimberly

The Ugly Bug Ball is truly brilliant. I'm not a Disney fan, but an impression I get of Disney's current problems is that the people calling the shots aren't actual Disney fans. They guard the IP like a jealous, controlling partner, without appreciating what they've got.

Emily Leeper

the ugly bug ball was on a disney singalong tape i had as a kid and i was always so confused abt the context. glad to kno even within the context of the movie, it makes no sense

Kavi Montanaro

I have to rewatch Witch Mountain, it was so hyped when I was a kid and it was one of my earliest cinema experiences but I remember nothing about the story, just vibes.

Kavi Montanaro

“Sorry this is the UGLY Ball. Fugly Ball is next year”

Lily McCullough

Ok this is so unrelated to the video but that plush she has behind her is so familiar and it’s driving me crazy. Who is that???

Landon J

"Goofy's a mess up...we'll just put it that way 💀" I actually think that's funnier than an f bomb lmao 🤣

Audrey lopata

The anteater looking one is Skippy, the purple dragon is Figment, the giant one is a porg, and the tomato is…. From kitchen cabaret?

Lily McCullough

Oh my god you’re a life saver it’s been ruining these videos for me cause I couldn’t figure out what skippy was haha I knew I’d seen him before

elizacr

jenny! tokyo disneyland has the gas pumps w/ fish! saw them in october!

Laura Torlaschi

The gold statues and your MagicBand+ linked to the Disney game app and it legit only worked half the time. It was so disappointing but kind of funny to aggressively wave at cartoon statues staring blankly and silently back at you.

Stephen Dole

See, maybe I am a pushover but I LOVED the Once Upon a Studio short! Watched it several times and I cry every time. Ugly Bug Ball sounds amazing!

Wifey

I would love if you did a video (script doctor maybe?) on Wish!

Sebastian Payne

Evinrude from The Rescuers is a pretty good bug

Marielle Jamgochian

You have the best ideas and honestly you should freelance to park and ~immersive experience~ improvement

GigglingGoblin

I support the new eight-foot tall Barbie canon.

Ilona

I was obsessed with The Fox and the Hound as a kid. I would get out my little 45 record with songs from the movie and put it on my little Fisher Price record player and I would just sob and listen to it over and over.

ceoln

I'm sure everyone's already said this, but Disney should 100% hire Jenny to do all their ... stuff!

Sam

Spikey Starbucks cups make my hands feel good :)

Amelia

as a new patreon subscriber i am (positively) overwhelmed by how many rambles i have to catch up on.

kalyn avery

I spent the whole video looking into the bird hat’s eyes as if it was using Jenny as it’s mouthpiece to speak to me

SJ

So much content! It’s exciting :)

Jordan Rose

Words cannot describe how much I need a photo opp where I can step on Ray.

Susan Held

I guess I won't be able to use the Magic Band from my cancelled March 2020 Disney trip the next time I go...

Channing Christ

i believe the cat and duck are from Melody Time? or that one short where david bowie voices peter and the wolf :)

RiaJaize

Robin Hood is definitely in the ranking. He was my first celebrity crush. I have a hoodie with him on it (my Robin Hoodie), and I'm often stopped by other women my age who also were in love with him.

Mannekwin

"i have other videos on my patreon" "cool yeah sure i'll pay $2 a month for some lil short videos" "1:34:37"

Winona Honey

I was at the grocery store today Wednesday May 22nd 2024 and there was Campbell's tomato soup that was Disney 100 themed, it stopped me in my tracks.

Sophie

i love the ugly bug ball.... i want to go there.... it was always my favorite song on the old sing-a-long-songs DVD........ oh a happy time we'll have there.............................................................. one and all

Tabitha Griffin

Same! I should have done this years ago haha

Jennifer Marten

I was vibing so hard to you talking about the weird merch!! It wasn't boring

Tired Monster

What's with all the Aladar hate? Lol, I loved that movie and still do, even though it's really crappy. All they gotta do is put dinosaurs in a movie for me to love it, even wildly inaccurate ones haha. Plus, it introduced me to carnotaurus as a kid (even if it's like extremely horribly inaccurate) and because of that it became a favorite of mine, and still is. Terrible movie, but damn I love it!

Cody Tucker

I kept waiting for you to bring up Lambert the Sheepish Lion, because I was pleasantly surprised to see him there in the background of the DIsney100 pic you showed, and I thought it was what you were going to bring up when you were recalling So Dear to My Heart. Is Lambert too obvious because every knows him, or did he go unmentioned because no one remembers him? Surely you do?

Mirror Joel

Hello! Would you consider not marking your second channel videos as "for kids" or "kids content"? For some reason that setting screws with YouTube's premium features (I.e., disables picture-in-picture and doesn't allow you to view the video with the window minimized).

Idol Thoughts

It's because it prevents you from adding it to playlists! fwiw you can do PIP on Firefox without YT premium

Evan Bobrow

i think she means the 60th anniversary of the park vs the company

Mirror Joel

Oh interesting! I didn't know you could do that with firefox. I will check that out!

Mourning

Why is this so funny 😭😭 loll

Channing Swearingen

I went to Disney this past year during the 100th celebration and got a themed pin with my vacation package which was cool. But otherwise completely avoided the celebration merch because what a niche thing to spend so much on

Miss Jess

The magic band statue thing seems like a worse version of the wand magic they had at Universal's wizarding world when it opened. Not sure if it's still there bc I don't give $ to HP anymore, but if you bought a certain type of wand, there were stations around the park where you could "do magic," like make a fountain shoot up really high or make animatronics in a store window dance.

Bryan Pray

When you mentioned in this video that you worked at the Petting Zoo in Disneyland it made me realize that I likely met you when you worked there. I have a memory from a trip I did there about 10 - 12 years ago. I was with my niece who was about 5 at the time. Her and I would always visit the goats. It was holiday time so when we go so see the goats, there were reindeer instead. Niece was sad, she loved the goats. I asked (who I am pretty sure was you) where the goats go when the reindeer take their pen. I got a reply of "Oh Santa takes them to the North Pole to live with him there" I smiled and said "That's cute. But for real though, what do they do with the goats?" and the reply was the same thing about Santa's but in a tone that said "My job won't let me tell you anything other than this Santa story so please just accept it". It's a core Disney memory for me.

Georgie Minns

The Ugly Bug Ball mention made me gasp and go down memory lane when I was a kid and danced to the song in dance class. I was casted as the ugly caterpillar by my own mother... Not sure what that says about her or me really.... Anyway great video! So happy I subbed to the patreon (and this is the first ramble vid I've watched!)

Quinton Walker

WATCHER IN THE WOODS MENTIONED. I remember watching this as a kid on repeat and thought it was a fever dream until rewatching it on YouTube. Such good campy performances.

Aimee W

are those sweettart jelly beans????? so jealous of american snacks

tumbleweed🍂

You MADE that Orange Bird hat?? (turns to the guy next to me incredulously) She MADE that Orange Bird hat!!

Wes

they’re kinda chalky

Gigglebyte

*me a crafty person* makes notes for how to do this for a friend obsessed with orange bird

Gigglebyte

I can't decide if I'm in support of the inclusion of Return to Oz or not. On the one hand- deep cut 10/10. On the other hand my 40+ year old brothers are still traumatized from their theatrical viewing of it because of Princess Mombi's changable heads. Actually no that's hilarious I want merch to scare them with.

ddddan

Great job on the needlefelting!

Paulie Paul

"...oh and then they could have one where you step on Ray" 💀

Milo

An ugly bug ball is one of the only things that couod make me go to a disney land/world ngl

Derek Davie

If they brought out "Song of the South" from the vault, that'd definitely be a surprise.

Dalton Pittenger

I think that Disney suggesting that Universal is merely catching up to them is less a matter of "we are comfortable resting on our laurels" and more that management under Chapek did such a poor job developing attractions and experiences that nothing is far enough along in develop to even tease so it's more comfortable to pretend that it's just part of the plan and everything working as intended.

Krista Gray

Oh my gosh, they are! I'm obsessed with them. I buy them from Amazon year-round!

mizushimo

The duck and the cat are from Peter and the Wolf

Feiyuan

I finally watched Wish today, and then immediately ordered that Star from the Disney store🤣

Robert Romero Jr

I wasn’t going to mention this but since you went so into depth about the disney 100th short. I use kind of roger rabbit explanation when characters are acting outside of establish lore. The movies we see are just cartoon people casted to play a version of themselves on film but whenever you see them portrayed in a format where they are supposed to be behaving “normally” they can be a little different from how they played their “character”. Otherwise what would stop the villain characters trying to scheme immediately being brought back to “life”. Even the in theme park lore is that Toon Town is the place where toons live and mickey’s job is being an actor. Idk it was a weird tangent to go over in depth over. I would say mulan is an a list and deserves to be in tier 1. Then you disregard your rule about not being biased by leaving out wreck it ralph.

Scrum Diddely Umptious

Its 3 am and I accidentally went to the bad side of the internet and have nowhere else to unpack this... oh my god theres like disney racists out there? They're out cancelling new snow white because she didnt like the old as hell cartoon as a new movie concept... and boy her race gets brought up in ways i wish I could erase from my brain. The internet was a mistake, people should not be allowed to gaggle together like this we only make bad choices. I just wanted to watch stage productions of West side story why it gotta end like this

Escher Howard-Williams

Agree. Fastpass thing is absurd. And park booking! I haven’t gone since these were instated and I won’t go in the future until these are gone. 😩😣😫

St

I just. I mean where is all this plastic merch manufactured? Does Disney know the earth is dying, or is it just like, 'it's my birthday bitches! Pay me!"

Markus D

I like the movie Dinosaur alright. It's not amazing, but it's solid. I think it's one of those movies that's better to watch when you're older because I remember finding it a bit grim as a kid—Though we did have multiple toys and the VHS because me and my brother just... liked dinosaurs.

Markus D

Lol, that's the exact thought I had when she was talking about it.

Markus D

Really strange that they wouldn't tell an adult... I'd assume the goats just get sent to a farm, not that they all get slaughtered and replaced or something warranting the secrecy, lol.

Markus D

I'm not sure, but it seems to have been this colour for a while. It's funny that despite the very specific colour, I actually occasionally think it's MY cursor because I changed it to match my desktop background which is currently a picture of—this is going to be an obscure one— Chiyuki from the mobile game Sdorica. She has nail polish and accessories that are basically that colour.

Markus D

I don't think I've ever seen the guy before now.

Markus D

I'm not sure why people think the movie is terrible. I don't think it's great, but I watched it like a year ago and I thought "I enjoyed that well enough". The worst part is probably the dated CGI an historical inaccuracies.

Markus D

Honestly, I didn't like The Princess and the Frog (it felt too disingenuous; it really should've been made with people connected to the culture and not fucking Randy Newman) but Ray didn't bother me and I thought his song was kind of sweet. I don't love the character design, but I have no hate for the character himself.

Markus D

I honestly think human-beast looks like my type, but we were spoiled seeing him as a big cuddly horned bear-lion creature.

Markus D

I feel like maybe it was just something we all thought was the case? Because I feel like I remember thinking that she was, but not being told that she was. Otherwise I came across some behind the scenes thing where she was originally going to be the princess, but I don't think it was official marketing. I think Asha and the king just look like they could be related and the trailers didn't provide enough context, so I assumed that they were.

ryan rafuls

me, watching this with an Epcot 35 flag on my wall rn 👀

Magistrissa

I would definitely listen to a Wish video. One of the things that's disappointing is that the original design was for the star to be a magical boy who's like a chipper ingenue boy a la Peter Pan if he weren't so sexist and okay with mermaids drowning his friends. Like the idea of what Peter Pan could be as a likable romantic lead. And then Asha was going to be like the more reserved level-headed one, and it would be a romance. I just find that appealing, since we haven't had a romance for a while and all of the male Disney leads in stories with female main protagonists have been street smart and kind of smug to offset the default zaniness of the female characters. (Kristoff, Flynn, Maui, Nick from Zootopia). I just think it'd be nice to have a change where we have a female lead who's kind of shy and this guy helps bring her out of her shell, and she helps him get a little more grounded. I think Asha suffers from the problem where she's "relatable" so she makes weird slapstick faces, but she's a strong role model for little girls, which now means she's not allowed to have real flaws or characteristics and thus doesn't really have an arc. I mean Mulan and Nani were relatable and role models but they had actual stuff going on, unique characteristics about how they thought and acted that made them, you know, characters.

Cody Tucker

It was one of our childhood favorites, it's only about 8 minutes long. A classic.

Foxx Black

Oh man the toon town hedges! I have a distinct memory of my parents opening their coolers and passing out homemade egg and chorizo burritos to us in that area.

Megan Lange

Wasn’t fully paying attention when you mentioned you worked at Disney during the Diamond anniversary and I thought you were talking about the company and not the park. I was like wow Jenny looks great for being in her sixties.

ashlen 💫

the alice comedies are referenced in over the garden wall ep8, which was made by an alum of calarts the school disney founded, and its so cute ppl should reference it more !!

Blake

i'm sure somebody has said this already but my guess is that the inbetween isn't a reference to where the cafeteria is but to the animation process of inbetweening. also thank you for explaining wish to me bc i do not want to see it but i do kind of want to know everything about it

T_Blow

Not-sure if you read comments on older videos but two things. The annoying thing with the statues was how poorly they worked and how low the volume was. I learned from my sister that you need to aggressively wave/ flail your wrist to get them to activate.. As for your idea of different interpretations it reminded me of the Mickey statues I believe they made for 2003? Where artists painted Mickey statues and they were auctioned off.

Maddie Arnautov

I saw a lady throw up in front of one of the gold statues in Hollywood Studios so my memory of them is a bit tarnished

Maddie Arnautov

Moana journey of water was really nice because it was one of the few attractions in Epcot where you felt like you could freely soak up the atmosphere. It was pretty relaxing and separate from the crowded chaos of the rest of the park. 10/10 great place to avoid a mental breakdown

YOU'VE NEVER SEEN HAPPILY EVER AFTER???

Hunter guzenski

Can we talk about the guy in the pumpkins Zero shirt in the gas pump photo?

Troy Haddadi

One of my only memories of Disneyland for almost an entire decade were those lumpy cars right by the gas station and trying to climb from their grip tape floor to the hard plastic seats as a 2 foot tall toddler

Kyra B

Idk if someone mentioned this bc I’m watching this back months later but they did have a little more for the decades collection that I think you missed bc of when you went on the website. For example, I got a muppets lounge fly that represented the 70s. Still not as good as your ideas, but a little less sad than you saw.

S. Marie Leigh

The only thing I liked about the 100 anniversary was they had merch everywhere in my area- Target, Five Below, Kohl’s, Petsmart, everywhere I went. None of the merch was good but it was exciting as a Disney fan to see it everywhere 😂

Ross Sinclair

I love that you specifically mention a 35 year park anniversary because I have a 35 year anniversary disneyland penant in one of my rooms on display

Duke McDuck

the little animation that they made reminds me of the old House of Mouse shows when all the Disney characters would hang out at a lounge with Mickey as the emcee. I would have preferred they make a whole episode like that instead of the group photo angle lol

Rebecca Starling

I’m sorry but i will not stand for this James and the giant peach slander. Yes the bugs in that movie are kinda terrifying, but that’s part of their charm! It’s called the ugly bug ball for a reason.

ORANGE BIRD HAT

Arbys on McKnight Road

I know you have probably since figured it out, but I’m new here and I figured I would throw it out there just in case. The duck and the yellow eyed cat standing with the little boy are from the 1946 Peter and the Wolf short. It’s super delightful and one of my favorite old Disney media. It teaches kids about the Peter and the Wolf symphony and tells you which instruments represent each character, and then animates the story as the music plays.

Noelle Q

Ever since I heard that we could’ve gotten a cute romance with a non-adorkable female lead, I’ve been sooo mad at Disney

GEWolf

Oh wow, the Mickey Mouse Viewmaster! My older sister and I had one of those when we were really little kids, this would have been the very late 1990s/very early 2000s. I know we had several different cards for it but for some reason the one I have the clearest memory of is Lady and the Tramp. I don't know if the cards would be usable anymore, but I should look if we still have that somewhere...

kj

the reusing of centuries by fall out boy is so galaxy brained lol

jellybones

the magic bands are so awful from a cradle to grave environmental perspective its like a caricature of an evil corporation that is actively trying to poison the earth. most of that merch isnt exactly wonderful either ethically im sure.

Scott Mechler

Fun fact about reluctant dragon and why they don't encourage people to go watch that. For no reason at all for like literally 1 second, the SINGLE MOST RACIST IMAGE EVER CREATED flashes on screen in the "genius baby" short. My wife and I recently were watching old Disney stuff and we were really enjoying that movie and we had to just pause the movie and go "what the actual fuck, why would you not just remove that"

dayy_dreamz

really the only things i liked from the anniversary was the oswald short they made (which might’ve been made a year later so i dunno if it actually was for the anniversary). i like once upon a studio too! it was kinda corny but it was really cute. and i am obsessed with the Mickey Mouse Shorts finale “Steamboat Silly” it was such a good short with really good music. i’m still obsessed with these short even now

Caroly

I bought the vintage replica Mickey visor too hahaha

Ginger Jones

Robin Hood is a major hottie but I was slightly more in love with Alan A’Dale (the bard rooster who sings little songs throughout the movie)

Ginger Jones

Jenny you did not just refer to my waifu Jason Bateman as “that guy”… smh

Rowan

brother bear mentioned!! it actually came out in 2003 I believe and not 2004 I know this because I'm part of that cult following for brother bear :)

Brad

Super late but, the duck and the cat are from Peter and the Wolf, who's standing with them and holding Sasha the songbird. The cat and duck are Ivan and Sonia, i think. I loved that duck when I was little

sophia

Neeeed to get my ass to the bug ball

Catgirl Trucking

the bit about the toon town gas pumps touched me personally. I have a vivid memory of the toon town gas pumps from when I visited DW as a kid. I remember that there was a big cartoon key inside of one of the bowls that was like "Bathroom key" and I thought that was peak humor.

Papa Aeon 7210

I have a lot of nostalgia for the Diamond Anniversary, since that was when I visited for the last time when I was a kid. Crazy to think that was 10 years ago. It feels like a lifetime but also like it happened yesterday.

Frankie Gallagher

Ok but I've had that Ugly Bug Ball song stuck in my head for years with no context as to which movie it came from, and i might actually like. Decide to go to disneyland if they did an Ugly Bug Ball

Riddle

Awwwwh the duck and the cat you mentioned at 54:24 are Sonia and Ivan from the 1940's short Peter and the Wolf. It was featured on Make Mine Music, but I used to have just a random anthology VHS that had it and I loved it. Pretty sure someone must've already said who they are as this video is years old LOL but I just wanted to say it because I got excited to see them! I never noticed they were there until you pointed them out :'-)

MagicalGirlShame

Jenny your orange bird hat has inspired me to create my own of Florian or 'The Un-nameable Evil' the black cat from the Danse Macarbe Ride in Efteling, it's so delightfully niche but I'm sure you'd appreciate it.

Ginger Jones

I also tend to alternate between Jenny and MrBallen for stories to fall asleep to 😴
