Re girl droids: there's an episode of the 1980s Droids cartoon where R2d2 has a girlfriend; a pink astromech droid with tennis shoes. She literally gets eaten alive by the episodes antagonist and they never speak of her again. not sure if this is still cannon

The attitude emanating from Skippy when he rested his plush paw on the overturned cup as if to say "Yeah, we got liquid-filled cups, mugs, and bottles on unprotected duvets, what of it?" was my favourite thing up until the return of J I M M Y S C R A M B L E S.

Can we talk about the implication of Chewbacca having been maneating before "Han Individual" was thrown into his Rancor-lair...? Like, is it just me, or does that to a degree collide with what we knew and loved about that character?

Was going to wait till I saw the film to watch your video, but this morning when I typing in "Solo showtimes" the first thing that popped up was the big spoiler. At least now I don't have to wait to watch your video! So ya to that.

Abbygale Mertes

I want to watch your version of this film for the Lando romance.

Wake90

It would be cool if you did a non-spoiler review because I don't know if I'll ever watch this video. I figure I'll watch it after I see the movie... whenever that is

Sean Kelly

I think for Jenny’s brand of review a spoiler free review might be impossible. Unless it’s a clip of her saying “This movie sucks!”

Daniel Fahringer

I'm not going to spoil it, but the Harlan Ellison joke was the funniest thing I've heard, well, since your last video...beep boop. And, since you asked, I think the numbers helped break up the video, so it was a good choice. Keep up the good work, you are the best thing on YouTube.

Abbygale Mertes

During your patreon crawl there is a segment with three straight people named Andrew with German surnames. I hope someday we have a Jenny prequel which will explain how this happened. Maybe we can meet Jimmy Scrambles.

Abbygale Mertes

Three consecutive people. I don't know if they are straight.

Steve Ray

Another great video...time to enjoy "the sweet smell of SIX-cess"!

Abbygale Mertes

After the prequel maybe a director or writer can let us know their sexual identity during an interview.

Fuck Off Patreon

Before I watch: I quite enjoyed Solo, there were a few cringe-worthy spots but overall I had fun. I am sure I will enjoy your take on it too :-)

The Falcon's Notch story from the expanded Universe still holds. Lando said he made a bunch of modifications. One he listed was adding an escape pod that fills the notch. It's canon. Lando said it himself in the Solo movie.

Sean Kelly

Great job, as usual! I am not sure what it says about me, but I keep randomly laughing to myself when I think about the “smash cut to graves” comment.

The BabaDuck

I didn’t see the movie, but I got a pretty good laugh out of my brother telling me about the Teras Kasi line.

CJ Carpenter

Thanks for the review! I LOL'd! And I can skip this one until it streams later this year!

Andrew Zimmer

I'm mostly attracted to lady-voiced robots, so mark me down for pan-sexual

Andrew Zimmer

Harrison Ford is Han Solo. I don't know why anyone thought this movie would be a good idea.

Troy

My favorite section was 45:45-45:57. So glad for this callback!

Lawrence Whiteside

I'd rather watch this than Solo. Lord & Miller have the last laugh. Time to can KK.

F W Pancakes

if Lando was in an relationship with C3p0; and Han has a crush on Lando would this explain why Han is such a dick to C3p0?

F W Pancakes

also, when C3p0 keeps introducing himself as "C3p0; human cyborg relations" what exactly dose that mean? Is 'protocol droid' a euphemism for something?

Steve Ray

Q: Why was Bill Clinton called "The Teflon President"? A: Because he was pan-sexual!

Marissa Wilk

I had most of the same problems with Solo that you did but I came to the conclusion that I enjoyed it and found it fun anyway. I always enjoy your Star Wars videos - glad to see it's possible to dislike aspects of Star Wars without being a jerk or a creep about it. cheers

KevtheRipper

The preview picture made me laughs out loud actually. :) Will save the video for when I have seen it (which might be a while).

Ficsandmusings

As I was sitting through the movie, I remember asking myself "what is supposed to be enjoyable here?" Solo was kind of like a weird homage to the scrapped EU and its over-literal, curative fandom at its finest. Excellent arbitrary list.

Peter Marez

“Lawrence Kasdan’s son” was low-key the sickest burn of this video.

13arabba

"Why does he say he trusts no one if he clearly trusted his loved ones?" Because everyone he trusts is dead, you idiot.

Sean Kelly

If you are calling Jenny names you are definitely out of line. If not you might want to rephrase and be more clear what you are talking about. Plus, your agrument (if I understand it) doesn’t make sense. If someone dies to save you if makes it MORE clear that some people are worth trusting. It shows there are honorable people out there in the universe. Mother Theresa is dead but her existence in time proves your can completely devote yourself to the poor and people still today try to emulate her.

Sean Kelly

It would be hilarious if on the same page there was an article about the 18th Marval movie approaching 2 billion dollars wouldwide. Of course it couldn’t be inferior movies that are the problem, blame Star Wars!

13arabba

He learned a lesson: don't trust people because they'll die off. He went through character development, which she willfully ignored in order to get more talking points into her overly long video.

Jenny Nicholson

Not getting attached to people because they'll die makes sense. Not *trusting* people because they'll die doesn't make any sense. Do you like my videos at all? You seem generally discontent

13arabba

Well, I like some of your videos.

Steve Ray

I keep reading "EU" as "European Union" and being baffled at how dismissive everyone is about an entire continent.

tdkFloyd

Sean, I agree with your point, but propose a counterpoint apropos Chris's article, being that Marvel movies have a wider range of aesthetics (both visual and narrative) present within the franchise, while Star Wars continues to heavily rely on Norman Reynolds' art design and Kasdan's style of dialog. This isn't inherently a bad thing, and I disagree with the article that it's the reason behind waning box office returns, but it isn't apples to oranges w/ the MCU, which varies in writing/art style depending on the sub-franchise (compare Captain America to Guardians of the Galaxy). I don't necessarily think it's longevity has been dependent on it, but I think the distinction is worth noting.

Sean Kelly

Daniel, That's a fair point and you could be completely right. It’s probably isn't the best comparison. I just realized that this was the second “Star Wars fatigue” article I have seen over the past year and (in the mainstream media) I have yet to see the “Disney is dropping the ball by making ok but inferior movies” article. Same kind of thing that happened with the latest Ghostbusters movie, “it can’t be a bad movie so it must be one of a dozen other reasons it bombed.” My whole point was that if you make good entertaining movies people will come, even if it’s the 18th installment in the series. Harry Potter had solid box office numbers all the way to the end (8 movies) because they were good movies that tried to be faithful to the books. There was a time the rule of thumb was “super hero movies” don’t sell. And after the failed Fantastic Four movies I am sure there were articles about Marvel or super hero fatigue. But super hero movies generally sucked (special effects just weren’t there yet) and the Fantastic Four just stunk, objectively. When you look at Doctor Strange or Ant Man. Those movies were difficult concepts to put on the big screen but Marvel Studios knocked out of the park. Or (story wise) “The Infinity Gauntlet” which in the comics is a very complex and confusing story, Marvel Studios made it digestible to average people without being insulting to the comic fans. It’s really an amazing feat in both respects. For that reason, I would be interested to know what the Marvel team would do with Star Wars franchise.

Eric J. Estrada

Its odd i kinda want to watch Solo just so everytime they say Han Solo i can quietly say Jimmy Scrambles under my breath.

Steve Ray

What anagrams can we make from "protocol droid"?

David Carlone

If that guard lady intended to capture both Han and Qi'Ra, she never would have opened the door in the first place, she already had the vial. She only announced one trespasser, she obviously figured one vial was good for one person. The guards didn't start coming for Han until he started yelling for her.

Robindra

for some reason this came back to me today, maybe the good characters aren't complicit in droid slavery if they remove their restraining bolts and the droids stay through choice maybe. still luke bullseyed womp rats so he is not that ethical

Frankie Gallagher

Is it always compulsory that, if you ever observe a problem in something, you also need to propose solutions? People seem to do that so often, and i don't get why

Frankie Gallagher

I like how so many of these old star wars videos feel like foreshadowing for the Endgame video where it's revealed that so much of the weirdness in Jenny's comments is from Star Wars fandom spillover

Frankie Gallagher

Wouldn't having negative opinions imply the opposite of being a shill, though? A shill would say positive things about the thing they're paid to promite
