Bill Lehecka

Oooh, a possible Q&A. That would be awesome. Fast paced. So many topics. Hope that wins.

Joel Eblin

Guys, I need to have Jenny, in the middle of the video, debate with herself if Sebastian is an animal sidekick or not.

Chris Dearing

A Q&A! Ooo. Still went with Star Wars tho.

Josh Osterhout

Kant's critique of pure reason would be an amazing video. It's a shame so few agree.

Sarah Matthews

I'm dead inside and horror movies help me feel so I'm looking for some suggestions.

Adam Drayer

Problematic Horror Movies because your script doctor videos are so good, but also Kant's 'Critique..' because everyone needs a break from the sci-fi fantasy world, and I would like to hear your opinion on metaphysics!

Abbygale Mertes

You’re my favorite part of the credits crawl, even more than my own name.

Abbygale Mertes

This is supposed to be an entertainment channel but you keep making learn interesting things! What gives? You some kinda... secret teacher? I’m onto you. I see you, Jenny Nicholson.

Joseph Leonard

Personally, I voted for Problematic 2008-10 becuase I love the remake of Sorority Row and want someone to talk about it. I think its less problematic in the fact it takes out the bad representation of Disability and just crafts a better story with the same rough Idea and just like Audrina Patridge in the film.

The BabaDuck

It’s great to see Patrons getting into the Halloween spirit a little early with the horror movie topics. My vote goes towards “Horror movies Jenny likes” since I think the rambles are best when it’s something she actually enjoys. Bad things are what the rest of her videos are for.

Hannah S.

Love horror movies and can’t wait for Jenny to share her favourite ones!! p.s. As a philosophy student I was shocked by the option of Kant and had to blink my eyes a few times to check if I was in a lucid dream...

Johnny G

I didnt get the email for submitting ramble options! Jenny help!

Bill Holt

How many of us are going to get banned for our angry, controversial takes on noumenon vs. phenomenon?

The BabaDuck

If you have a smart phone you can also get notifications via the app.

Sky Sydney

plush show & tell sounds like the cutest video ever so i am 100% behind it

Tom Bowling

As someone who takes a lot of mockery for calling The Creature From the Black Lagoon his favorite horror movie, I'd be interested to hear what Jenny likes.

JK

Will the Kant video include the wearing of a cork hat?

Daniel Anderson

Voted for Kant because I'm a fan of his ethics system and it's such a unique topic, but I hope it's on there because Jenny expressed an interest in the topic at some point. If that was just a troll nomination from someone trying to throw Jenny a weird curveball, that would be pretty shitty of that patron.

Tony LMFAO

I want to hear about Willy Wonka because I really want Jenny's take on Uncle Joe. Why didn't he ever get up an get a job?

Joshua Crowther

I just wanted to see it up there. I didn’t think anyone would vote for it. I didn’t.

Joshua Crowther

Now you got me worried and feeling guilty. :(

The BabaDuck

Well, there's no way it can be as bad as the Loneliness epidemic of last month.

Rachel Weiss

No need to feel guilty I don't think-- Jenny seems to have a pretty strong sense of what she is and isn't comfortable doing, and I don't think she'd put up a ramble topic that she would feel really horrible making. Worst case scenario, she really has no background knowledge and has to make stuff up on the fly, which could still be fun and entertaining for both her and her audience even if it might represent a goof gone too far <3

Tom Bowling

I always thought all four of the grandparents were on the run from the law and just hiding out.

Bill Holt

You know, at some point we're going to have to start feeling pity for the Star Wars topic.

Brianna Ogas

Horror movie seems like a fun idea for October.. hmm lots of nice picks this month. Good job, guys!

Bethany Gemmell

i studied kant in philosophy so if it wins i can send you my notes if you're stuck (however i would've personally suggested descartes' meditations)

Tony LMFAO

That is awesome! Charlie Bucket child of outlaws on the lamb.

Torie Berke

Im really here for some willy wonka hot takes.

Montana

there’s so many good ones this month 😮 I’m about dying to see some more of your plushes but a Q&A would be so fun.

Tom Bowling

Is anyone going to get into some Jenny fan fiction on this ballot? Because if you do, I've got a good one where she takes down a Russian spy ring and single-handedly vanquishes the Vampire Queen of Murmansk. I call it, "Jenny Visits the Pet Shop." Oh, she also buys a goldfish in the story.

Tom Bowling

I was kind of thinking that too.

Daniel Anderson

I imagine Rachel's right about Jenny preemptively vetoing topics that she really doesn't want to do. Sorry, Joshua, didn't mean to make you feel bad.

T. Fazekas

How much do I need to up my Patreon to get a “hint” as to how the voting is going before I cast? It’s too much pressure! I know what I want but I don’t want to waste my vote if something else I like is close. I guess this is why a third party system wouldn’t work :)

David Arceneaux

Jenny's read the Critique of Pure Reason? whoa

Eric MacMillan

Hey sorry if I'm missing what your saying here but you know you can change your vote any time right? Just click the option you want, even if you have already voted.

Shaun Cheah

I would've voted if it had been Jeremy Bentham; I'm a big fan of utilitarianism. Don't know much about Kant except his name sounds funny with certain accents so my vote went elsewhere instead.

Shaun Cheah

Yeah, Eric's right. I changed my vote, like, four times last month.

Steve Ray

Perhaps Jenny *hasn't* already read said Critique, and she'll have to read it on the bus home the night the Ramble is due.

Steve Ray

Hear, hear! Science tells us that Humanity's power for Abstract Thought is what truly keeps us "separate" from regular Animals. And what happened *last month*? We all nearly Ramble-voted for Loneliness, and we all nearly fell to ruin! "Loneliness" is a very Abstract Thought, much like "Critique" and "Pure Reason" -- and thus, very HUMAN :/ This month, let's stick to the *original* vision of the Animal Topics Coalition, and *stay* united behind Top 10 AND Bottom 5 Animal Sidekicks.

Steve Ray

Aren't horror movies supposed to explore problematic themes and ideas, which is what makes them scary? I'd think that "problematicity" is a difficult thing to measure in most circumstances, but it will be as elusive as a neutrino while talking fright flicks.

Steve Ray

"Utilitarianism"? That word isn't familiar to me, And since I've never heard of it guiding anyone to a better life, I suspect it's been long-debunked, and replaced with something humane. I mean, shouldn't a philosophy try to help people?

Steve Ray

Plushes can be the Winning Animal Topic for November.

Steve Ray

I am indeed wondering...could you tell the tale of how you got...there?

Steve Ray

Remember that old nursery rhyme? "A topic / Anthropic / 's a hot pick / to drop kick!!! "Exercise your adorable franchise and VOTE for Animal Topics!"

Steve Ray

I thought Tony LMFAO was just now talking about hearing Jenny's thoughts on Stalin

Jane McIntyre

Man I've been voting for that star wars topic every time. And it never happens. We need a coalition on that one

Jane McIntyre

Right? I've been voting for that one like every month! Though theres a lot of good choices this time around

Tom Bowling

Mine came from a jar. According to the label, it used to belong to Aby Normal.

Luis

Or maybe there's a spell for speed reading in one of her magic books from the Let's do real magic video

T. Fazekas

Of course I knew that...(uncrumples “How to Patreon” directions)

Steve Ray

The easiest and safest way to practice changing your vote is to switch it to the first available topic.

Steve Ray

Also Jenny's ain't afraid of no book, so what troll would even try that.

T. Fazekas

You’d think more women would enjoy a satire about the futility of toxic masculinity. I voted plush stories. I want to hear how the other plush are adapting under the Mega-Porg regime.

Steve Ray

Techinically, plushes are also an Animal Topic, and the Coalition will surely support those in a runoff, but per the original covenant, we endorse Disney Sidekicks in Round One.

Steve Ray

I've heard that Kant's Critique really isn't what it appears to be.

Steve Ray

How many demons can be banished to a pin-sized section of Hell?

Steve Ray

Since we've already had the horse Ramble, your suggestion sounds A-OK.

Steve Ray

Wouldn't we have to stay up until 3:30 a.m. Pacific on a Thursday to participate? And would it take the form of an unlisted YouTube Livestream or a Twitch or what?

Hannah S.

Yeah i think so too and that would be great because i don’t want any saturday school on metaphysics/epistemology/ethics lol

Tom Bowling

Satirical, futile and toxic masculinity aside, the monster is really cool looking! Unfortunately, I base a lot of my favoritism for a horror movie on the aesthetics of the antagonist. I guess it's people like me who made Boba Fett popular. I must admit, I am a little curious as to who dominates the plush population; porgs or astromechs.

DocBarkey

Strangely, I envision the Mega-Porg as a harsh task-master to the minion plushes as they quake under its iron gaze.

Steve Ray

With CGI getting so cheap, I bet soon you'll be able to order horror movies as Render-On-Demand, matching any plot to any menace, so you could watch a double-feature of Birdnado, followed by the more-suspenseful Alfred Hitchcock's The Sharks. If something's too scary for your kids, you could tone down Kingdom of the Spiders to Kingdom of the Caterpillars. And of course, thrill this summer to The Meg: A Porg.

Tom Bowling

The Ribald Adventures of Porgalodon?

Steve Ray

Eventually, I'm sure...save your Bitcoins.

T. Fazekas

The actor that executed the CIA operative during the camp assault at the beginning of Predator played the mall security guard in Mallrats. Fun Fact

JK

Who would have thought Immanuel Kant would be more popular than Star Wars? I'm not looking forward to the fan reaction to the Rian Johnson directed biopic.

Tom Bowling

I'm just keeping my head down and hoping the dark times pass quickly.

Bill Holt

Practice safe checks.

Bill Holt

Maybe she can have a UCI philosophy professor on as a special guest.

Abbygale Mertes

Hasn't everyone who has completed their freshman year of college read that?

Eric MacMillan

She would have made a post for $5 patrons to ask questions in the comments on and then for the video just scroll through the comments to answer which ever ones she liked.

Tom Bowling

Besides, we all know that if the sequel trilogy came out in 1999, they'd have Jennifer Aniston playing Rey and Drew Carey as Kylo Ren.

Steve Ray

Rian Johnson is helming the Critique of Pure Reason trilogy?

Steve Ray

We had a Great Books requirement, not a Not-Bad Books requirement, so Kant was something you could read during study hall.

Steve Ray

A good guess, but not hardly! Obviously, for Kylo Ren, the producers would have gone to the ultimate go-to late-90s-to-mid-2000s emotionally unstable box-office megadraw.... Adam Sandler

David Arceneaux

I couldn't hack The Critique, so I read Kant's _Critique for Dummies_, the Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics That Will Be Able to Present Itself as a Science

Tom Bowling

If you want a serious speculation, I would probably go with Edward Furlong and Katie Holmes in the Kylo and Rey roles.

Tom Bowling

Here's a poser, suppose the movies were made in order and The Phantom Menace came out in 1977?

Blue Corn

Cool. Trying to remember the last time Jenny covered a horror movie. Was it It?

Steve Ray

Mantan Moreland had passed on in 1973, so George Lucas may have given the Jar-Jar nod to the good-natured-but-irrepressible Blowfly, who tangled with Darth Vader himself in a *very* bawdy song, far too racy to link to.

Eric MacMillan

Is this ramble getting posted this weekend?

Jenny Nicholson

Tonight! In whatever time it takes to finish exporting and uploading... 43% rn

Eric MacMillan

Yay! I'm so excited thanks for the update Jenny!
