Here is the new ramble video! I'm so excited about the end result. I feel like I left in a lot of rambling and a lot of incidental costume-making footage so I understand any compulsion to skip to the end and see the result

September Ramble - Make a Halloween Costume

Comments

Patrick Lee

the best part of the figment costume is that it’s multi-purpose. you can wear it at a Halloween party, or you can just wear it out on the town

Steve Ray

Rambling is the Jenny-say-whaaaa of every good ramble -- the more, the better!

Karla Blinoff

Aw hope you feel better Jenny <3 Hopefully Halloween season will lift your spirits (PS The costume looks so good!!!)

Is it weird that watching Jenny thread that needle is like visual ASMR to me. It's so soothing! I'm entranced! There has to be a YouTube channel just for needle threading.

Eric MacMillan

Sorry you had a hard month Jenny. Thanks for cheering ours up with another great ramble.

Tom Bowling

I'm going with a Star Wars theme this Halloween too. I'm beadazzling a Sith Lord robe so I can be Darth Elvis. "Listen, son, you have no idea of the power of the Dark Side and the Colonel. You ain't nothin' but a Wookie, howlin' all the time!" Octobers are always bad months for me. I broke up with my girlfriend last week. Can't say that I'm sorry either. Not only did she not like Star Wars, she has never even seen it. You just can't live with those people. Isn't that grounds for divorce anyway? I only dated her because she had this whole Avril Lavigne thing going for her. Love the Snoke costume! You made me laugh and will have my undying patronage until the zombocalypse. Happy Halloween!

Blue Corn

"Snoke's beautiful eyes." Never thought I'd hear that phrase. I appreciate that this is Jenny's most Bob Rossy video, so much so, that she mentions Bob Ross.

Luis

I hope no one skipped until the end of the video the making of the amazing costume was the best part! Sorry about your bad September though and I hope things get better.

t.c. austin

honestly you're correct about the bald cap thing, I have a LOT of hair (before I cut it it was a similar length to yours) and I wore a bald cap to disneyland halloween (I was Nebula as part of a guardians of the galaxy group costume) and let me tell you it was SO uncomfortable to have on all night oh my GOD. taking it off at the end of the night was like an extreme version of the feeling you get when you take off your bra at the end of a long day

Malena Dailey

Tbh I’d rather see long videos less frequently, the beastly video is currently my favorite thing on YouTube and I’ve watched it easily 10 times already 😂 it’s up there with the opposite worlds video for sure

Montana

Sending you good vibes! I hope things get better for you. But your costume looks great tbh the robe dress thing is amazing and I love it. I’m looking forward to seeing what you shot in Disneyworld and you talking about it!!

Sarah Unan

Sorry you had a bad month, Jenny. I had a pretty rough couple of days but this video helped cheer me up. So thanks, I hope things turn around for you soon.

Steve Ray

Whoever is stealing your packages is a jerk! Have you considered getting a mail drop? They are cool, because you can feel sketchy and anonymous, like you're a spy or a con artist, and it's also cool to have servants doting on you.

Bill Holt

Gollum comes to Springfield.

Leesah

I love the shirt you're wearing!

Kevin James

Sorry to hear about your awful month, Jenny. I hope November and December treat you better.

I was wondering about the ad revenue situ for that one - were Lionsgate fend-offable or was there nothing to be done? (Malena Dailey is absolutely right! Instant classic - but I’d been holding off on re-watching it as I was hoping to not benefit the philistines who clearly don’t appreciate genius transformativity when it’s staring them in the feline gatey face.) 🦁🌉😠

Shred Cadmium

Blimey, the Prætorian Guard one is quality! 🔴👏👍

Brandon Beasley

Sorry to hear about your September, but I'm glad things are going a bit better now. Wishing you all the best! Loved this ramble + craft time, it was great, and the end result is a priceless work of art.

Joe Joe

I thought for a second you were talking about the Alexander Payne film, The Descendants and was both confused and excited.

Matthew McCoy

You need to put a fake package out on your porch, and then when somebody tries to steal it, jump out in your Snoke costume. The hands alone will freak them out. That'll teach em!

Shred Cadmium

I was watching some of the shorter vids the other day where it’s two characters having a conversation (so the Suicide Squad one, obviously, but then also Rey &amp; Luke, Elsa &amp; Anna, and Vulture &amp; not-Spidey). I <i>suspect</i> that whilst short these are prohibitively work-intensive and algorithmically frowned-upon, but if I’m wrong on both counts <b>and</b> the right topic came along it’d be great to see another in that format one day. (Quite apart from the humour the acting is so fun to watch! - there’s a real talent for nuance there and it’s really special to see.)

My-Linn Hillefors

I'm sorry you had a bad month! :( Good to hear you have people to help you out thru it though. Thanks for the content! :)

I'll never forgive Disney for not naming the franchise "Discendants". Like... Dis/ney. Whatta missed opportunity *grumbles eternally*.

Jenny Nicholson

They are a little more time-consuming, but I do like making them! I actually did one with Thor and Odin but the Odin footage (I think? one of the characters) got corrupted and trying to get the framing not-distractingly-different and reshooting it seemed like such a slog, and then the relevance of the topic slipped by me. But if a natural topic comes up again I would definitely do a video in that format again

Jenny Nicholson

I just realized I got through the whole video without acknowledging the deer ears, I got them for disney world and they keep my hair out of my face and are really comfy. They are admittedly not very on-theme. (I love big plush spa headbands)

Tom Bowling

I saw Venom this past Sunday. There's enough material there for three Jenny Nicholson installments. There are some movies not even popcorn can fix.

Daniel Stephan

Sorry to hear you had a rough month Jenny, glad things are getting a little better 💪 Also, love the costume! Much more creative than I ever could be.

Anonymous

Fabulous! Shows how rendering Snoke in fake computer graphics was such a missed opportunity for the character. Sorry to hear you've been going through bonkers stuff like that. I'd lose my mind.

David Barry

That 'bad car' sketch is honestly one of my favourite bits of YouTube, I'm not at all surprised that people still quote it at you.

Brian Bakke

Well done - the scar turned out really good, I think. And the eyes have the right amount of creepy/crazy with the different size pupils and everything.

Freya Northman

I'm sorry last month sucked. It did for me too. September is also my birth month, and it just brings up all sorts of garbage and drama. Hope October is better!

diego kontarovsky

ok i'm not done watching it, but i just got to the part where you realize you should've painted the inside of the eye instead of the outside because the paint looks better through the plastic, and it reminded me of a special feature i watched on the friday the 13th 3d blu-ray where they explained that they fabricated a clear hockey mask for jason and only painted the inside, so that the paint would be unaffected by scratches and stuff on the outside. another reason why those blu-rays should really be required viewing

Kitty

i dont mind and in fact would love if your just spent a long time on one long video instead of putting out little ones. the beastly video made me almost cry laughing so i love rlly long form detailed content... but i love everything you do regardless!! happy you're feeling a bit better, i'm having a shitty month being alone at school but it will be ok eventually &lt;3 happy halloween jenny!!

James Murphy

I met a twitch streamer at Pax and after I got past the initial introduction my mind went blank and I had nothing to say, it was incredibly awkward.

F W Pancakes

add some edgy face tattoos, swap the gold lame for something in black and you can recycle it into a Beastly costume

Evan Bobrow

i’m sorry you’ve had a bad month! hopefully this one will be better, sending some good vibes

Evan Bobrow

also when you mentioned the concept of a cars video i involuntarily started smiling because i do, in fact, love pixar’s cars

Bill Lehecka

Stealing packages is soooo uncool. Hopefully you catch the idiot. Is it time to set up a PO Box?

Eric

That costume is amazing...hope your luck gets better!

Kyle Williams

Who knew a video about making a costume would get so dark! Glad you feel comfortable sharing though. Hopefully things start getting better for you!

Luis

It's so cool watching the video a second time when you see that simple little cap and you know Jenny is going to turn that into Snoke

Put a giant bell in an Amazon box, but only barely tape up the bottom of the box, tie a string around the bell, then superglue the string to the floor under the box.

Rachel Weiss

This is such a very good impressive costume! I also had a cursed September where like various unrelated aspects of my life and health kept falling apart in quick succession and I kept crying on public transportation-- I assume this means the problems are not specific to any one person but instead associated with the month itself. Can we just like make petition or a gofundme or something to have September removed? I'm pretty sure if we can get around the bureaucratic red tape we can unravel the concept of time p easily and it'll all be sorted out. Also, I can't speak for anyone else, but personally I'd rather you make less content if it meant you could enjoy what you're doing and feel happier with the end results (even though the end results are already great)? I feel like creators do their best work and feel the least burnt out when they're working on projects they're passionate about and feeling a sense of pride in the things they produce, so whatever style/schedule allows you to do that is good by me.

Tom Bowling

Any of you ladies doing anything special for the tenth anniversary of the Twilight saga?

Oli

I jumped to the end of the video... Octodad? Gold robe, nope its Snoke Solo. Great costumes, very inspiring! :D Wishing Jenny and all her patrons a fantastic October!

raphael

Omg i used to have the same exact sewing kit bag! I used it as a pencil case in middle school

Jonathan Baldie
>>16369075

I agree with this. We're just happy to support you via this great platform, Jenny. Hope you're doing okay after last month!

Anonymous

What was that breathing noise when you were cutting out that "eye"? A ghost, your director or what? I didn't catch it the first time around because I was watching on a TV, but it was pretty clear with headphones on. Spooky! Oh, and I was just wondering if you sent out the message asking for ramble topics yet? Totally didn't get one if you did.

Laura Elizabeth

September Ramble in OCTOBER?! Unsubscribed and uninstalled!

Élan Botkin
>>16391112

You may as well just put all this computer nonsense in the closet for a few days.

Julia Collins

Sorry about your bad month. Glad to hear October's been better so far! Also you're really inspiring me to keep working at making costumes even though I also don't really know how to sew. Recently I've been more motivated than usual to put costumes together even though I have nowhere to wear them, and I wanna keep doing it just for fun.

Joe Robinson

Sorry to hear it was a rough month but you at least got an (on point) opinion piece published - enjoy the victories when you get them!

Joe Joe

Thanks for the fun video. The cap turned out a lot better than I expected! Venom really would be a perfect subject for one of your videos if you have time. It'd fit perfectly as one of your action/reaction videos even if that might be a bit too on-the-nose.

Luis

Man Jenny was right about store bought costumes. I just got my Beastly costume in the mail and Kyle's "tattoo shirt" is pretty cheap and fits oddly!

Tim Ruckle

Sorry for the awful Semptember. Hope your health and your family is/are OK. I always appreciate and enjoy your work.

Tyler James

You are like the Hardcore History of Youtubers. It doesn't matter to your fans how long the breaks are in between videos because we know we are going to get a quality product in the end. Quality over quantity, as it were. You are the best, Jenny. Glad this month has been better for you :)

(DAN CARLIN in voiceover): "Now, it's one thing to be part of an invading army, united and marching with your pony brethren to protect the town you grew up in from a cabal of gypsies...you kill the ones you can see, burn down their temples of evil, and feel good about it when you go home...that's what War is! "But what is it like to *meet* one of your victims, months, or even *years* after the fact? What is it like learning that you may have been the soldier who killed the parents of one of your best friends? "You see, this is one of the unintended consequences of Princess Celestia's Orphaned Pony Placement Program...foals brought in from the conquered territory were sent to live all over Her Kingdom, almost at random...so there was a very good chance that orphans and veterans could end up neighbors. That's what I call INTENSE."

Élan Botkin

Also a thought: Try mailing yourself a glitter bomb.

1000thghost

At the center of all things is Monster High.

1000thghost

Ferb who are you supposed to be? I'm Snoke!!!

UK73

Get a buddy to send you something worthless in a huge valuable looking box. QED. :) You'll catch those thieves oiks redhanded.

Dee Crosier

I’m a year late now, but sorry to hear about your cursed September… and I hope your new residence is more secure, at the very least. On a happier note, that costume is/was/ever-will-be FIRE!!!
