Happy Patron Appreciation Day!

I decided to do a weird thing as a bonus to celebrate the occasion. Further instructions of when to begin playing Solo are within the mp3!

I hope there isn't too much dead time and that anyone is lonely enough to want to consume content like this at all, and that you all feel appreciated!

Wesley

My husband and I finally watched this with dinner tonight for my birthday. Couldn't have asked for a better virtual dinner companion to watch this masterpiece with us.

Candice

I know I'm super late here, but this is brilliant! And it's definitely improving the film! I'd love more of these in the future. Although based on how often Jenny is yawning and checking the time, I assume she's not enjoying it as much as I am.

Ted

Im Late, but this was really fun!

Josh Shadow

Late to this, but thank you for your service Jenny!

Eric Charles

Dunno if anyone's still watching the comments, but: I had a great time with this. Thank you. Jenny, if you want to go back and do Last Jedi, I'd love to watch that commentary as well.

Miles Nerenberg

This was a blast (like from a laser blaster in the Star Wars movies) and actually made it worth rewatching this movie. At the end you said you thought it would be more fun with an additional person, I for one would love to see you and Bailey do commentary for another one of the movies as a drinking game.

Shelby Coulter

I just watched this and enjoyed it. Too bad there will never be another one. Wow, almost six years to the day. Is that sad? I feel like that should be sad...

William McCarthy

Start this right at Chewbacca’s second roar and Ron Howard’s credit and it syncs up swell!

5in100ents

Do you have this in an 11 hour stream of consciousness format?

Anthony Xian

havent listened to the commentary yet obviously but ive always liked the idea of getting to watch a movie with u so im stoked

purplehayes

Whoa! I know what I'm doing tomorrow

Andrew Carney

Oh I do want to listen to this Jenny! You don’t give yourself enough credit for how much fun you can be :)

Shawn Hunt

Oh wow, I’m so excited. Stuck at work until 12am but will be checking this out right after. Probably the only thing that will make Solo watchable again.

Frank and Beans

Fantastic! Can't wait for the weekend now.

srryimdead

You know what, I was feeling lonely...a long commentary track is legit perfect timing. Thank!!!

Bryan Sutton

When you posted that Tweet about doing something different, I was hoping you decided to do that commentary track idea. I'm so excited!

tim_schu

This is literally the only thing that could make me watch that movie again. In my heart I dislike Rogue One more but my brain recognizes Solo as the worse movie.

Snail

I appreciate you, Jenny!

Tyler James

I've never watched any Star Wars content before, but I am just lonely enough to watch so long as you are doing commentary

Daniel Richardson

I can't say how pleased I am to get such a fun thing! Even if there are gaps, that's just fine, it will most likely feel natural. I'm queueing this up immediately!

Luis

Oh what a treat definitely feeling appreciated! I'll watch it Friday after the latest baba yaga episode.

Avon Gale

I was never gonna watch this movie but ABRUPT PLAN CHANGE - thanks Jenny!

Zack Parks

*sniffs* How does she know I’m lonely??

inclement heather

this patron-exclusive commentary track signifies that in a roundabout way I will have paid actual human money to watch the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story two separate times, which like... on the one hand I'm ashamed and frustrated but on the other hand I must consume the Content

Andrew Henderson

"Lonely enough to want "...damn Jenny, I signed up to your patreon to support your videos, not to get roasted. I feel so called out.

Rick Clark

“Watch Solo on Netflix“ is a phrase I never thought I would say to my Apple TV, but here I am!

Matthew McCoy

How many times in the commentary track do you mention snakes and/or snake racks? Do you ever say "As clever as a snake"?

Daniel Richardson

By the way Jenny, "boosting" is commonly used for stealing cars in our world... you can say "boosting cars" and people would know what you meant.

Ricm

Jenny this is a really cool thing you did that I never would have expected. I love things life rifftrax or film and 40s (giantbomb). There are movies I wouldn't want to watch on my own but am curious about, this will get me to watch solo now.

Bryan Sutton

I'm about halfway through, just wanted to say that this is hilarious, the quality is on a par with the commentary tracks that RedLetterMedia does. Thank you for doing this. I hope it does become a thing.

Eric MacMillan

Jenny thank you so much for this, it was incredibly fun and unexpected, and really made me feel appreciated as a patron. I know you said this is a one time thing but I would absolutely love if there were more of these, maybe a new patreon tier? I hope you will consider it if this was not too much work, because it really is a lot of fun to watch a movie this way.

Daniel Richardson

So I have to say, I've already now watched the whole 2 hour and 15 minute affair along with your commentary, Jenny, and it sure isn't any better with subsequent viewings. That said I loved your commentary track! I might need to increase my patreon tier.

Karis Danielle

Countdown to start is at 2:18 if you're trying to resync

Luis

HaHa Dicey Korrupt! Yeah I couldn't wait I had to watch and listen. I'll be a zombie at work today but it was worth the sacrifice much like Jenny sacrificed to bring is this hilarious commentary. Plus Solo Bad was the first YouTube vid of hers I ever saw so I couldn't resist staying up!

Ryan Coomes

I’ve never even been into commentary tracks before but that was fun. I never looked up the extent of the reshoots so you pointing out when and how much the original cut and reshoot clashed kept it interesting. I would ask for a Rogue One track in the future but there are plenty of bad movies that are more fun for this kind of thing, and having to commentate one mediocre Star Wars spin-off is already enough as is. Overall I rate it as a real good, built tough, American-made audio track/10

Joe Bloe

I have tried to watch Solo twice so far and neither time got past the opening action sequence, turning it off once during the speeder (?) chase sequence and once at the end of that sequence. With this commentary - audio only - I made it past the death of the initial heist team even though it's got big sections of silence while waiting for mandatory action scenes to end. This commentary is more engaging than the movie *even when Jenny is quietly sipping a drink for two minutes*. I'm restarting now and will actually watch the whole movie. While also listening to the commentary, I'm not crazy, no way I can last the entire movie by itself.

agebond1

OMG! Thank you Jenny!

UK73

Ditto to the omgz . I luvz me audio tracks. And if you go off on tangents the morez the better.

Chad Leeper

Thanks to YOU, Solo-Gon Jenn. Will gobble it up. Yeah, the only downside is I might just have to re-watch the movie/lecture. Or order themed takeout from Denny's. Started up a Nicholson playlist in Music and ... have ... populated. Look out hiking trail.

anthony grey

i'm not even a star wars fan, but i love your commentary, so i'll suffer through this film. jk... still not a star wars fan, but i love your commentary on anything, so i'll gladly "suffer" ;)

Troy

I didn't hate this movie, but I planned to never watch it again. Those plans have changed!

Troy

My sentiments exactly!

Mariayuri Kumagae

I never thought I'd watch this again and get this much enjoyment out of this boring movie. I laughed so hard when they destroyed the skull! This might have been one of the best perks of being your patreon, please do more of these!

Paul Herberger

What a delightful surprise. You're so good to your fans. Looking forward to this.

Leonard Pollard

God I completely forgot that stupid piece of lore about Han's dad being like an unemployed factory worker in the space rust belt. It feels like pandering to middle america but just... why? middle america is already sold on star wars you guys you don't have to try so hard.

Sordahon

hmmm i guess i should watch solo then, huh

Austin Baker

You know what I've never seen Solo so this is the perfect opportunity to watch it with my friend Jenny ;P

Pj Martin

You betrayed us all by making us watch Solo again, but after all, isn't that what the spirit of Solo is all about

dumb wh0re

I know she's trying to be entertaining throughout, but it's funny roleplaying that I'm trying to watch this movie for the first time and follow the plot but Jennys just that friend who keeps talking during all the important scenes

Luis

These American made videos have me feelin super patriotic USA USA USA USA USA USA

Johnny G

I've never seen Solo and had no interest in it. but I'll for sure watch it now!

UK73

I don't want to be to gushing here but you are someone I'd welcome hearing ramble on whilst watching a 2hr movie. So provided you didn't find the whole experience an excruciating pain, I'd say more please, si vous plait. - btw, not listened to it yet, need to get a copy of the film, so if you say at the end (words to the effect of) "oh god, that was awful, doing this broke me inside, never again... NEVER AGAIN!!!!" - then oopsie... but I'm hoping not. :)

KevtheRipper

Jenny be honest, did you consult on the next Star Wars as a name consultant? "Zora Bliss" feels like one of yours.

superb lobster

I sensed a disturbance in the force. It was Jenny giving me an excuse to finally watch Solo.

Michael DeBellis

I'm so glad that I took a long flight last year or I never would have been bored enough to watch Solo. Even at that it was sort of a toss up which was more interesting: the movie or that little graphic thing that shows you where the plane is on a map. I'm glad now that I stuck with the movie through the end. I feel like it's early Christmas, extra Jenny content! Thanks!!!

Stuart Kent

The most dastardly ploy to get everyone to do the Disney+ trial. And I'm gonna do it. Damn.

Josh Draper

Didn't honestly think I'd willingly watch Solo again, but here we are! Thanks for the awesome surprise.

Eric MacMillan

Hey just FYI Solo isn't on Disney+ until next year, it is on Netflix right now though!

Michael Puckett

I can’t wait for the Rogue One track for next years appreciation day

Michael Puckett

Having a group of friends makes it funny and probably less excruciating too

tackycardia

Ah heck, I guess I'm finally going to watch Solo. Thanks, Jenny! 💖

Jordan

Brave.

Abby Stewart

Hell yeah! Didn’t think I would ever watch solo but here we are

Dundough Breadbox

Truly great bonus material! So glad you have good sound gear.

Scott H.

You know, one of the problems with this movie is that when the guy playing Han says "I'm a terrible person" you don't really believe it. He's just got too sweet of a smile. Harrison Ford could make you believe Han was actually a bastard. I don't believe at all that Alden's Han is a bastard.

ts_babyjane

I don't own Solo but I will definitely be playing this commentary over "Solo" by Frank Ocean

UK73

Just finished it and.... well if you do do (giggles) another one, and I hope you do, I suggest you pick a film you really enjoyed or one which really bugged you, rather than one which had you looking at your watch after 20mins. I watched in England, and things sinked(?) up perfectly btw. The google/wiki searching during the commentary was a nice touch.

Dee Crosier

Thank you for this bonus (American-made) content! I usually feel plenty appreciated after your rambles, but this was a fun surprise, and I hope you know how much we appreciate you in return! :)

Laurianne

Just finished watching, I've been home sick and this was the best surprise ! Thank you !

Erika Martin

This is the only way anyone could ever get me to watch or enjoy Solo, so thanks, Jenny!

Icy

Thank you for this!! I 1000% enjoyed this commentary track and would love more. You talked the perfect amount of times. I loved hearing the things you enjoyed about the movie, like the droids. It'd be nice to watch a movie you enjoy in the future if you ever wanted to do commentary tracks again! I'm sure it was a slog to get through this long, not-so-great film.

Daniel Billo

I really liked this! You seemed worried about not talking enough, but I doing other things while I watched this so I didn't need it to be super dense. I also think its funny Solo and Infinity War both have major yet completely forgettable antagonists named "Proxima"

David Whitney

That was great. I did break it into two viewings, your stamina is above par. I had no idea about the script reworking, and now a lot more makes sense. Especially the opening act which I see is 100% throwaway now. Maybe they could kill them off after season one of Disney+ Solo (GOT style)? But it all seems way more gratuitous after the fact. We can only hope it's all explained in "Duo: The Adventures of Jimmy Scrambles - A Star Wars Story"

Johnny G

I watched the whole thing! And yes, boosting cars is an old as dirt term for stealing cars. They even use the term in the fast and the furious movies too!

Kayla Foley

The only reason I watched the movie was bc your commentary came out, & I think it made my first time watching it WAY more bearable than it would’ve been otherwise, because WOW is bad. Also the trench scenes & the whole Thandie train sequence felt ripped from Firefly, wtf was that about??

Purple Coneflower

^ Same! Love when you said "Can you imagine anyone listening to this commentary during their first viewing?" - my partner and I laughed because given the reviews there was no way we were watching it otherwise!

JoshuaMartian

Really like the idea of more commentaries! Though I find I'm doing literally anything other than watching Solo while listening to this. I'm wondering if I should just listen to the commentary and enjoy Jenny make occasional observations about Solo while I play Switch or something.

Flora

jenny says paws>maws confirmed

Bullseye

One of my objections to this movie is the opposite of Jenny's, which seems weird. It seemed to me in Empire Strikes Back that Han and Lando actually had been friends, but in Solo they don't like each other and don't look like they will ever be friends.

Bullseye

Also, in the first card game, Han loses his non-existent ship, so he owes Lando a ship. Everyone including Lando just immediately forgets about it.

RichterCa

Watching with this commentary was the first time I saw Solo, and I can't imagine watching it straight, I would have just turned it off. The "Han is Corellian" thing always bugged me, too, because the only mention of Corellian anything in the OT is when Han says: " I've outrun Imperial starships. Not the local bulk cruisers mind you, I'm talking about the big Corellian ships now." Nothing about that line implies that the Falcon is Corellian, or that Han is. If anything it implies that what we call "Imperial Star Destroyers" are probably the Corellian ships Han is talking about.

Steve Ray

I hope you keep watching different movies while playing the Nicholson Solo Commentary. There must be *some* film out there that syncs up perfectly, like [Dark Side of the Moon + The Wizard of Oz].

James Murphy

"Bad news Beckett, it's a Western again until the end of this scene." was hilarious :D

James Murphy

This was the only reason I watched the Solo movie...

Wakelyn

This was fantastic! I'd enjoy one for Rogue One sometime in the future, or maybe Dumbo or something

Darren Pierce

Finally watched Solo tonight thanks to this! This was super fun. If you do more, I'm certainly up for it.

Shaun Cheah

She was parked in her car talking to a friend when someone crashed into them. I think she's got a headwrap from the concussion in her Applejack video, but for the longest time I thought it was just a part of some elaborate cosplay I wasn't involved enough to understand.

Samuel Vernon Weiss

It’s imperative that we get to the bottom of this mystery! 🧐

John Fenster

This was fun! I have no idea when I would have watched Solo again without this incentive. My partner had not seen the film, so with the commentary was her first time (and it worked well).

four or five owls

i finally got a chance to listen to this and it was real fun! thanks for doing this, it was so cool of you to do something extra for us (especially when it meant you had to rewatch solo) (incidentally this was the first time i'd seen it so i'm now off to watch your video)

Bryony

finally a reason to watch Solo!!

Devin M

This was quite interesting. I probably wouldn’t have watched this movie otherwise! The spoilers were actually fun.

Sam Bacon

This commentary track was amazing! Really liked thinking through which parts were Lord and Miller. I hope next year you consider doing another one!

Jonathan Eiriz

I hope we can get more of these in the future!! It was really good!!!😂😂

Samantha Kitty Marks

Such a great way to spend a cold winter evening, thank you so much for this! I watched Solo for the first and only time with your commentary, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Michael

I decided to put this on while doing some work around the house and I just realized this means that Solo was the first movie I watched this decade.... thanks, Jenny.

Larry Oliver

Your commentary is more entertaining than the movie

Tim Ellis

Absolutely loved this. Great job!

Steve

This was really great. I quickly mixed your audio with the original and threw the combined file onto my Plex. I might as well have been listening to you doing a real commentary track on the Blu-ray, and it was awesome. I know it's been a year now, but you should really do more of these. They don't have to be for films you hated like Solo, but even for things you're enthusiastic about would be super fun. I think people would really enjoy just hearing you talk about why you like them. Thanks so much!

Tori Yuzik

I love Star Wars but I haven't been even a little interested in watching Solo for even a moment of the past 3 years. Luckily, my city is in a lockdown again and I'm out of other new Jenny content, so here I am finally watching this movie that I know won't feel like a Star Wars movie at all, spending 92 minutes of my saturday night in a constant state of disappointment. Thanks, Jenny, for inevitably making this more bearable! (I will report back if I happen to love the movie, so don't expect to hear from me again lol)

Tori Yuzik

I went into this thinking the movie was 92 minutes because that's what Google told me. Jenny just said it's 2 hours and 15 minutes. I'm mad about it.

Might Be A Giant

Finally had an afternoon where remembered I wanted to do this. Watched the whole movie, and definitely wouldn't have without the commentary to entice me. I would love to watch more with your commentary, so if its something you'd be interesting in doing again, I'm down.

Liv

Thank you so much for making this. It really did make me feel less lonely!

Markus D

Even though I watched your main channel video wherein you mentioned that Enfys Nest "seemed like someone who we were supposed to recognize, but hadn't actually shown up before" I had THAT EXACT REACTION TO HER watching the movie along with your commentary.

FuzzBallPete

I feel conflicted about this, on one hand this commentary was fun and I appreciate that Jenny took the time to do it as it was very entertaining, it's especially nice having a voice in my ear that echoes my complaints about the length of this movie throughout the runtime but on the other hand I've now seen Solo twice! I really would like more of these though, it would be fun and good excuse to rewatch some more movies, as long as it's not land before time or it's many sequels.

Jaz Mei Luo

Holy shit, this post is 3 years old? 😂 Well, I've been eyeing this listing in the rambles master post for a while and finally felt in the mood to sit down for a viewing. I thought it was funny when Jenny was like "are spoilers ok? what if someone was just experiencing this as their first viewing of Solo?" because that's exactly what I did. 😂 I found it funnier that I was being introduced to characters and then immediately informed by Jenny that they were going to die in 10 minutes. Well, thanks for an entertaining experience. ^-^

Robbie Agnew

It is January 2023 and I just watched all of Solo while listening to the commentary. Pretty fun, movie was a mess tho. Guilty pleasure of mine but not great
