Hey so this is super late and I don’t know if anyone’s gonna see this, but the Würmling express is my favorite thing in Phantasialand and I actually read up on the lore behind it!! So the Wuze (the people of wuze town) actually worship birds, so feeding the baby birds is a sacred ritual to them. They use the Würmling express as a mode of transportation to deliver worms to the bird houses you can see along the track. Wuze town has a ton of really cute lore I love that land!

Starlit Rain

I'm super late but this is my home park (one hour away) and I am SO SO SO excited to finally watch it!!!!! I have been to this park since I was a kid (2007), almost yearly, and got to witness its evolution and I love this park dearly, with how much care goes into every attraction and theming! I believe I was there shortly before or after you were, and man, what i would have given to meet my favorite YouTuber and fellow theme park enthusiast there T_T Anyways, I haven't watched the video yet but I'm so excited to see you witness the park for yourself for the first time. I'm also caught up with any lore of attractions or themed areas, so I'm excited to see your reactions <3

Starlit Rain

The Wuze lore is so underrated! Like how the Winja's Fear and Force coasters represent a ritual the women go through, and how the society is rather matriarchal :)

Jenny, if you're ever back in Germany you need to check out Spreepark in Berlin. It was the only themepark in East Germany, that, no joke, got shut down after the CEO was found to have used the ride attractions to smuggle hundreds of kilos of south american cocaine, after shipping the rides all to Peru and back again in an elaborate criminial scheme. It now gets used as a setting for post-apocalyptic movies and as a stomping ground by urban explorers. It also had a starring role in a very janky east german cult film about themepark animatronics from a ghost train that come to life and terrorise Berlin.

Scrum Diddely Umptious

Listen, you cant mock the german dads and their 6 orders of fries yet claim to want McDonalds french fry carts back at Disney. Pick a lane Jenny!

Robert Romero Jr

Your sister looks so done with the ride at the hitchhiking ghost part lol.

Calysto

as a german, can confirm the french fry love

Talocan

Noooo, you skipped my favorite, Talocan! :(

Paulie Paul

Jenny did forewarn us about the motion sickness, lol... it really started getting to me from around the time they went through the funhouse! But wow, I love the look of that park. Very thoughtful and imaginative design.

Rushka Unverricht

Wow, a bonus video! I only just finished the ramble lol!

Prince

This has absolutely justified my body not letting me go to bed yet. Thank you!!

Rime Pendragon

Yes, we eat patat (french fries) as a main course in the Netherlands :-) With lots of mayonnaise.

McSpain

Last time I went was over 20 years ago. But I went a couple of times in my childhood. I even have old video footage made by my dad. I just checked them. It's from 1990 and as I remembered the lake had the viking theme. Sadly the footage is just from outside the ride. But I have a lot of inside footage of the universal studios knockoff ride in its first year. Where they later changed The Birds to Oz and so on.

Galewolf

Jenny really flexing her gaming knowledge on this vlog, I wouldn't have thought she was familiar with Bioshock Infinite. This place looks really cool! Really creative designs in the different lands.

Luis

What a treat! September is looking like a great month!!

Luis

Maybe you need to smoke weed before getting on Wakobato to make it fun 🤔

enoch

screaming crying and throwing up.

Luis

That was great! I love these type of videos it really feels like I'm there. I actually wouldn't mind a trough of fries right about now lol.

Ren ☆

I would LOOOVE to go on a trip like this with my sister

Dancing Giraffe

jenny's theme park vlog content is one of my favorite things she does, but I didn't heed the warning and got motion sick. would something like a gimbal help for video stabilizing?

KittenKat

What so many extra vids!! Yeah!!

Natalie Arnold

Germany is a dog friendly country! It's pretty common to see dogs everywhere, with accommodations like water served to them at cafés and such. The expectations around how well trained dogs need to be are higher than they are in a lot of other countries though. Pulling a cord to flush a toilet is a little old fashioned but I would never have thought it was part of steampunk theming FWIW motion sickness wasn't an issue for me (and I'm fairly sensitive to that sort of thing) except when you dropped the camera.

Semilocon

I used to live in the town where Phantasialand is located :D

clarkinator

Went there as an exchange student in high school. Saw a figure skating show called "Ice College" It was about senior year at an American high school and was hilarious because it was obviously made by someone who's only impression of American high school was High School Musical, Mean Girls, and other cheesy early 2000s teen films. It was full of weird references to movies with songs from high school musical playing. There were several scenes of straight up sexual assault played for laughs. There was a partial stripping nerd-> bimbo transformation sequence that seemed really out of place for a otherwise family friendly show. Also there was a prom scene which took place after graduation which was another hint they knew nothing about American school. You can find the 2016 show on YouTube

Oberon

Can we expect more train themed content? Europe seems very train friendly in general but that might just be like Europeans assuming that Australia has lots of snakes.

Bear

Germans are kind of infamous even among ourselves for being very strict about quiet hours / noise & nuisance complaints. My "favorite" story though was the one about a city couple moving to the countryside next to a farm and then filing a noise complaint against the farmer over their cows' bells.

Dee Crosier

That park looks incredible! I’d love to go sometime… and buy all the Schneck merch! Also, as a Brit I feel it’s my patriotic duty to defend the concept of “French fries as a main course”… especially with mushy peas, or mayonnaise and melty cheese.

AmWa

I grey out a lot on rollercoasters and hate it... even afterwards its so uncomfortable. I never knew the proper term for it so thanks for talking about it! Now I know.

Anna Glin

just french fries with mayo is the best! in Germany you can also get them with currywurst though. (sausage with curry ketchup)

Olivia

This was amazing thank you!

Bryan Sutton

Is the tray of fries and nothing else thing typical for Germans? Or are they in a theme park and taking the opportunity to "eat like Americans." Do they pour mayonnaise and ketchup all over their tray of fries and go "So this is what Americans eat, huh?"

Hannah

POMMES!!! If you go to literally any type of festival in Germany there is always like 8 stands selling french fries. I usually ate them in a paper cone with a tiny wooden fork! I was in Mainz and they just come with mayonnaise and ketchup, and I Phantasialand isn't too far away, so I am curious to know how other parts of Germany dress up their Pommes.

Iris

This is such a fabulous video, Jenny, thank you! Your commentary added a lot to an already really interesting theme park. My mind is a little blown that the magnetic wristband thing you experienced for the roller coaster's lockers felt advanced, because that was the norm when I lived in Shanghai over 15 years ago.

Iris

I've definitely experienced people from other countries going like "aaahhhh, American food!" while eating something native to their own culture. I find it very cute. <3

ts_babyjane

thank you for providing so much commentary ! i was at my job cleaning while i listened i'm glad i could juts pop it on and there wasnt a bunch of dead silence, and i could look at my leisure if something sounded interesting. i will watch it more indepth later

Amanda Kay

It’s wild to me that you would move into a house near a theme park, complain about the noise from the theme park, and the theme park actually have to stop making noise.

David A Behlman

That wild house looked pretty fun. And that fun house was wild! I'm so glad a place as cool this exists. Can't wait to vicariously experience the other parks!

Dash

As one who is susceptible to shaky cam dizziness I'm probably going to give this a pass but please don't ever let that consideration dissuade you in any way if you want to post this type of content in the future. I'm guessing most people don't have an issue with it, and most of your fans would want to share in that experience with you. I think the disclaimer is a thoughtful heads up for anyone who might have an adverse reaction and is much appreciated.

Dan Gibbins

Canada's Wonderland has a ride like that first one, except half the point is that it spins your face right into the water from the fountain. I gave that one a pass when I was there. Just watched and got some photos of my friend being waterboarded by a thrill ride.

Dash

Oh, also, as one who has commented on earlier videos about getting dizzy, sincere apologies if it came off as a complaint! On my end it was absolutely not intended to come off that way. If anything, it was just to give a heads up to others who might have the same sensitivities which, again, you've nicely addressed in this video with your disclaimer.

Luc Gendrot

For what it's worth I actually thought this one was much easier to watch than the last theme park walkabout, and I usually watch on 2x speed so

run_away

The footage didn't make me seasick but the idea of a giant lukewarm mayo-ketchup-fry stew did help me purge the food poisoning that's keeping me awake at the moment

Nina

Yeah, same here. I've been going almost every year since the 80s and it always was Viking-themed (although I kind of remember some jungle elements remaining?). I still have a picture of me as a 3-year-old on a Viking ship. 😊 Never went on the ride later, it felt quite boring and too long. So, yes, I'm old enough to remember Siegfried and Roy's white tigers and Michael Jackson opening the Colorado coaster only for it to burn down shortly after. 😄

Markus D

It's weird to me that you use the French word in Germany, but I guess we call them "French fries" in English so that's just cutting out the middle man. As a Canadian who knows some French, it's weird to see them just called "pommes" because "pommes" is French is "apples". Potatoes are "pommes de terre" so it ultimately makes sense, but it's weird to think about.

Markus D

I'm kind of surprised that you were surprised by people just eating fries on their own. I'm Canadian and that's not a normal meal that you'd go out to eat, but I thought that if you're at something like a theme park or festival it's not especially weird. The same way that at Disneyland you can just have a bag of popcorn.

Meg

The steampunk land looks really cool! It kinda reminds me of the Mysterious Island at DisneySea. Fun video.

Devin M

Lol the bees in Germany are absolutely out of control.

T. Fazekas

Me: I’m feeling a little queasy. Jenny: That’s on you!

Steph K

All of your footage looked good to me. Didn't make me feel seasick at all. I totally get the bee thing. I was at some theme parks in Poland a couple weeks ago and they have the same exact problem there.

Lindsey Keefer

I’ve never gotten motion sickness from any of your videos, though it def helps that I watch them on my phone lol. I’m such a coward with rollercoasters but love theming too! Love the steampunk part — we need more parks with fun sci-fi tech.

Joy Wood

This video is so chill. I'll be rewatching this one again and again. Love it.

Views from the Canopy

I’ve been in Germany studying abroad for about 3 months and yep the culture shock is real. Dogs everywhere (and all so well trained!), French fries as an acceptable meal substitute, and god the quiet hours, I got screamed at by my neighbor at 11 pm because I “laugh like a hyena.” Hope you had a great trip and managed to try some Eiskaffee while you were there!

Torfi

Fun video! Thanks for posting it.

Jill Morris

Madhouse is actually the name of the ride model from Vekoma for that type of ride, though they've been around for a long long time. I've ridden them at Six Flags Great Adventure and Dutch Wonderland.

MW

I am one of those people that gets seasick but i still love watching these in smaller chunks!! thank you for posting :)

Porge

It’s just classic boomer NIMBYism: you find a property near a place that you know makes a lot of noise (theme park, sports stadium, popular pub that’s been there for 100 years, etc), purchase it for a reduced price because of said noise, then complain to your local council about the noise until you become such a nuisance that they decide it’s less of a headache to just cave to your demands

Daveed Ben dov

Yay! I’m going there soon, in April!

Let 💛

I love your vlogs Jenny!

Libby Williams

Ooh another park to add to the bucket list! As a Brit, your bemusement at fries/chips as a main is very funny to me, I didn't think it was that weird 😂

Graeme Smith

I went to Phantasialand about twenty years ago on a school trip. Watching this makes me realise that I don't remember anything about it at all, other than the fact that there were literally no queues for the rides, so much so you could just stay on and ride them again if you wanted.

Rushka Unverricht

I keep thinking "Into the bowels of Wuze Town" sounds like it should be a chapter title in some fantasy novel.

skellbörg

FYI me and my gf both got dizzy watching other pov things (no complaints here jenny!!!) and this one was much easier for both of us, and it's almost completely narrated so you can just listen. just wanted to let you know because it is extremely delightful jenny content haha

Dash

Thanks for the heads up! I may just give it a go at some point :)

Narcissa Deville

I could do without the mayo but a meal of just french fries sounds like my kinda place

Sanja Alessia

i live next to phantasialand and i have a good camera, if you need footage i can take it for you haha

SweetAlissum

Replace that mayo with curry sauce and you have described half my meals during my year abroad in London.

Lea Chinelo

It’s the casual short form of Pommes frites. In some areas of Germany, it’s more common to shorten it to “Fritten”. Probably (maybe?) has to do with how close they are to Belgium. I’ve had fries in a cone before, but where I’m from they’re usually served on a rectangular paper plate (unless you’re having them at home or at a proper restaurant). I even own a porcelain version of such a plate; it’s horribly kitschy, but it’s fun. :D Fries with ketchup and mayo are a classic (I don’t really like mayo, so I stick to ketchup), as is pairing it with currywurst, a bratwurst doused in curry ketchup. …God, now I’m hungry for some fries, haha.

Alexandra

The area is one of the most densely populated part of Germany so noise level were set from the beginning. And if you know that there are limits to the noise (early closing hours etc.) you might buy a home there even if you're not willing yo live next to - for example - nightly firework displays. You can't just go and change the noise situation willy-nilly on the people living there.

Rocky PG

I'm a late panda, but if you're ever in Germany again and haven't gone already, I'd check out Europa-Park. It has that baked-in "sounds lame" premise of essentially being European Epcot IN Europe, but the theming is great and the rides are a good mix of Disney + Six Flags. Also, the EuroMir (Russian-themed rollercoaster) background soundtrack is literally the best music in all of human existence. It's got "underrated experience = walking through Space Mountain's line" vibes. Also also, their highest-speed roller coaster was named Nordstrom after the gas pipeline... not sure if it's still called that or not.

Jenny Nicholson

I was seriously considering it for this past trip! But since the main focus was efteling, the trip was already quite long, and it was such a large park it didn't seem realistic to add it on, which in hindsight I think was definitely the right call. I'm tentatively eyeballing it for a 2023 trip if I can secure filming permission; they're opening a new restaurant where the seats move so that'd be of interest to me (again would need filming permission for that since the website specifically says it's verboten)

Jenny Nicholson

Omg you were the neighbor who made them destroy wakobato

Rocky PG

I feel that and you probably indeed made the right choice. I did my trip in 2019 and crammed in one too many things. (I wanted to hit Berlin, Munich, and EuropaPark/Baden Baden, and I naively thought German trains would be like Japanese trains in terms of speed/never late-ness. (Spoilers: no trains are like Japanese trains.) So I what I thought would be 4-5 hour half-days between regions turned into 8+ hour full-days.) But I also can't think in hindsight what I would've dropped, so... :shrugs: That said, if you do hit it in 2023, I'd recommend staying a night or two in nearby Freiburg for its amazing gutters of all things. (Not even trolling: https://www.amusingplanet.com/2018/09/the-bachle-of-freiburg-mediaeval.html)

Ari Mobile

Really interesting thing happened while i was 'watching' this — i put it on as background noise as i laid down to take a nap, but i think i was in this weird middle ground between consciousness and sleep where i could still hear the audio while i was sleeping. so my brain like filled in the blanks and made up visuals in my dream based on your narration. I especially remember the wako bato ride as this glittering ice cave that they let you go into to film even though it was closed down (as my dream interpreted it), and you were walking knee deep in the water that submerged the tracks of the ride and there were like, little display windows with whimsical little scenes behind glass embedded in the ice walls. it was really interesting to revisit this video when i was awake to see what the park actually looked like in comparison. brains are weird and cool.

JanaNe

They actually ceased their collab with Nordstream II, I went in september and it was gone (finally! But the took wayyy too long in my opinion). I remember even funnier times, when Bluefire was "powered by Gazprom". What a shame it has such a bad sponsoring history, as it's my favorite ride there.

Robert Hamberg

Very, very late to the party, but such a fun vlog! Phantasialand is such a great park, with some spectacular coasters and quite the immersive theming. Always makes for very intense visits. Regarding Taron, if you ever visit PHL again: DO. NOT. SKIP. TARON! Best coaster I've ever ridden! It just goes so fast, throws you around a bunch, it's simply great fun and doesn't pull as many G-forces as Black Mamba does. Absolute favorite of mine, that coaster alone is reason enough to make that 2.5 hour trip.

Ella M

Delightful! Thank you for sharing this!
