Efteling Merch Haul

Comments

Fem Schaeffer

As someone who grew up living 15 minutes away from this park and used to go every weekend, it's amazing and very nostalgic to see you talk about it in such a positive way, and I'm very much looking forward to the full Efteling video! I don't know if you are planning to include a section where you get a perspective from people who work at the park, but I know a lot of people who either work there or used to work there. It is a very popular job among teens because you could get free access to the park and a discount for friends.

Fem Schaeffer

There's one ride dedicated to Max and Moritz, and hey have toned down the story significantly... meaning, it doesn't end in their gruesome death. The park just took the idea of two mischievous kids and built a small ride surrounding that idea. The surrounding area is nicely decorated in the 'cute German village' theme. The queue and the ride itself were created with the idea in mind that it's something crafted by Max and Moritz themselves, while pulling pranks and engaging in other shenanigans. It's colourful and fun.

Bear

Thank you for that insight - that obviously makes thematic sense! Though I guess the German inside me is disappointed that it doesn't include a fun traumatizing part where we witness them being ground alive in a mill into goose feed.

Quinn Z

I grew up twenty minutes from Toverland (and maybe an hour away from Efteling) so it was very fun and nostalgic to see this haul. A fun detail I noticed is that the final song you played from the Toverland soundtrack is sung with a pretty thick local accent. You can tell the guy that sung it is from Sevenum (or close to it, at least) specifically, which is such a fun touch? It makes it sound kinda homemade in a very charming way. I will also now have the song for Carnaval Festival stuck in my head for the rest of the day thanks to your music box. That song is infamously annoying. Really looking forward to your Efteling video.

Tence Bakpao

Jenny speaking Dutch.... now my life is complete!

Tence Bakpao

Oh btw "Indische Waterlelies" means "Water lilies from the Dutch Indies", not "Indian water lilies".

Harry Dewulf

I turned 50 this year and damn... pack outfits! Yes! Why am I 50 years old before I hear this?

Esteban Parker

Also here wondering where the efteling video went

Esteban Parker

I’m wondering if I’m confusing it with the phantasialand video since here she refers to both lands

Julius Koetsier

There's no email on an Efteling video in my mailbox, so that's probably it.

Tom Uithol

I really wanted to see the Efteling video again, there was a Efteling video right? Going trough the comments made me less sure xD

Kotah

Absolutely love this video! Can we pretty please get the Efteling video.

Ariane Uden

I think this is the most on topic video to comment this under: we have two theme parks (?) in Germany called Pullman City. They are a western townn. I had to think about it when you talked about: Ghost Town Alive (in Germany they don't have a clever story about why they have the same parade each day but well). Also if you decide to visit the one in Bayern already burned down earlier this year so maybe your curse won't strike them since it already happened

Ontario Traffic Man

It's a toadstool stool! (Also a pun in Dutch: paddestoel stoel)

Elyse G

I went to Efteling this year and stayed at the sandman hotel. It was AMAZING! They had a lake with the sandman's house and the owl. It was so cute!! (No shuttle needed, it was like a 7 min walk in a forest trail to the park)

MagicalGirlShame

Hi, I joined recently. We're visiting in April, can't wait.

HangryInBrussels

Is it time to give up hope for a complete Efteling video? I'm Belgian, we went there often when I was a kid. I love how they have kept so much of their original rides and decor. I would love to see your take on it.

MagicalGirlShame

Jenny, it was amazing. I want to go back so bad 😭

MagicalGirlShame

We have no self control, we've booked another trip!

florence dee

(very long comment sorry i'm just SO EXCITED) aaaahhh i love this video so much!!! i go to efteling every year for my birthday (if you have an efteling account you get a pretty decent discount for up to six people for a visit during your birthday month or the first half of the following month). i had seen your instagram post after your trip, but i only recently became a member. i'm so glad you seem to have had a lovely time. i think it's the best theme park ever, but i've never been to any parks outside of the netherlands, belgium or germany. i'm so happy that you mentioned almost all of my faves, droomvlucht, de sprookjesboom, de indische waterlelies, and de potvis in symbolica. i also really love the baron and joris en de draak. danse macabre is also open now, in case you ever come back (: as for the merch, i also wish they had more stuff that's adult size. i actually have been jotting down ideas for park merch for years, and i'm trying to work up the courage to just cold email them some of my designs. tip for other visitors: the totes are usually at the shop attached to the fairytale forest, that's where i got mine (:

Bradders

Was there ever an Efteling vlog video? It’s been mentioned in previous videos but I can’t find anything. Please help 😂

Bradders

Did you ever find it? I’m in the same boat now

MagicalGirlShame

This is my favourite video, we've just come back from our second trip to Efteling, this time staying at the Wonder Hotel on site, and I miss it already so watching Jenny unpack her merch is staving off the post holiday blues 🥲

Reese

We're getting spoiled this month! 💜

Mimosa

My tummy is full but Jenny’s bonus videos go in a special stomach, like the tastiest of desserts.

poppys daddi

we are eating GOOD this month

poppys daddi

i swear i didn’t see your caption LMAO

Grerutin

Tummy full of Efteling content

Benjamin

yummy im so full from eating Patreon videos

The Bad Guy

I am posthumously experiencing interest! Much appreciated

Mara S

An hour? Truly we are blessed and highly favored this month!

Emily in Prague

Benevolent Jenny is spoiling us this month!

Prince

Man oh man whatever magical inspiration potion you've been drinking lately, thank you so much! And also, I want some

Luis

Another one :O also I love Aragog's hat!

Ellen Campbell

I’m sick with covid rn and all this content has me feeling Blessed lololol

Sarahodo

Japanese clear files are basically unique art pieces, so I would consider those placemats to be art pieces to frame as well! 😊

stela

wow this was so cooll thank you for all the extra content ♡

Jennifer W

all the Efteling characters are kind of terrifying

Jaz Mei Luo

I'm a Zoomer and I'm obsessed with tiny backpacks

Markus D

I know you're into them, but I can't help but think that aesthetically, a lot of these theme park mascots have serious "Deviantart" energy and it's very weird for a theme park that should ostensibly have the money for at least more polished graphics to officially show off instead of something like the image of all the dragons you showed on Twitter. I just saw the mascot costume for Moyo and I don't know how to feel about it. It's really riding the line between cute and unsettling and the mix of animal patterns in broad swathes feels a bit lazy. I'm just saying that I've seen hybrid furry art, so I know some people can do better, LOL.

Jenny Nicholson

I feel like whenever I see a german cartoon mascot it has deviantart energy, not just in that they're usually not shaded or anything but also in the sense that they seem kind of furry esque. So maybe to locals phantasialand's art graphics seem normal or even high-end

Sam

I perked up when you talked about the music mushrooms, because I grew up near a park that also had those! There's pictures of me with my ear to the mushroom! Turns out some guy visited Efteling in the fifties and then created a little copy of it in Germany because he liked it so much. What a weird thing to learn about this iconic place of my childhood.

Spublii

It's so cool to hear you pronounce the words in Dutch. Thank you for making an honest effort! Glad to see you enjoyed your time! No shame about how much merch you got, I would have done the same if I got to go to America!

Spublii

Hey Jenny! Speaking about Frisian horses, you know the Frisian horses come from Friesland, a province in The Netherlands?

Sapphire.Skeletons

You are so courageous for even considering bringing home that mushroom. I wouldnt have the balls to do it. You got a lot of good stuff!!!

Markus D

I NEARLY like Quetzal's design, but I honestly think that the little smiley face at the end of the tail is so jarringly different from the rest of him.

Jenny Nicholson

Yes! I wanted to visit but I tried to do some googling and it didn't look like there was anywhere to like "go" to celebrate the horses? I was hoping to find a museum or a training school open to tourists or something but was thinking realistically it was probably a lot of private farms there

Kate B

I love Kroka! I love how chunky his big plush is. His expression is wonderful- he’s just in a state of constant screaming.

Spublii

Yes, I think you're right. I am from Friesland and we do have festivals and competitions, but not something that's very easy to find for tourist I can imagine. If you ever return, you can always ask me for more information!

Spublii

Get well soon!

arnique

Mushroom madness. I wonder how all the suitcases looked before check-in at the airport. I love this haul video. Please do more!

Narissa de Bruin

Jenny's house is an actual plush museum like she could line a hallway with vitrines filled with plush that's incredibly cool

steamybanshee

Love the video! The birthday calendar will actually never become outdated because it's not specific to a year. It's very common in Dutch households to have a birthday calendar hanging in the bathroom or sth

Ashley

I think it's nice that you always travel with your sister. I've taken international trips with my sister a few times as well and we literally do not speak for like a month after we're so sick of each other... but she keeps signing for increasingly specific experiences lol so it's obviously working.

GammaWu

This video is spectacular.

Jenny Nicholson

Oh my god I hadn't opened it and just assumed it was a normal calendar with pictures for the park's birthday. A birthday calendar is not a thing we have here

Foxer

Did I miss why she said she won't be keeping all of her haul? ._.

David A Behlman

I love the Pirate Parrot so much! If I had to rank my top 3 plushes from this video I'd say: Pirate Parrot, Merlin's Owl, Kroka. What Shy Unicorn didn't make my top three?!

Bear

Okay now I really want to know how Max and Moritz are integrated into a theme park and also what you think of their tale.

Foxer

Oh! 🎁

Mark Kelly Books

We tried to find outfits in that raspberry pink-red color for our wedding and it was absolutely impossible. :\

Ann

I would love to have a peek inside that park ephemera collection, it sounds super fascinating! And it's fun to hear your experiences having been to all the European parks myself when I was a child. I really want to go back with fresh eyes now

Henri

I hope your background is fully- or at least mostly-transformed with this delightful haul for whatever video(s) may come of the trip! I quite enjoyed the full tour lol

Betsy

I'm completely with you on wearing warm socks to sleep in cold rooms! My family thinks I'm crazy for sleeping in socks.

Colin Sebastian

I really want to read that book. Those illustrations are beautiful!

Lilium

If you want a plant that's fairly kill-proof - snake plants don't need much light and only need water once a month or so. They also produce oxygen during the night!

Sam Cotter

I genuinely cannot wait for the video

Katrina Kaufman

I absolutely love that mushroom stool. I liked all of your souvenirs (especially the plushes! I agree, they're my favorite kind of merch), but oh my god THAT STOOL I WANT ONE. Off topic, but have you played that Disney Dreamlight Valley game that came out recently? I feel like that would be right up your alley.

Ella Wharton

This video was a delight! I kind of want to go to the Netherlands just for the mushroom stool now

run_away

Thanks to the three people who expressed interest in this lol, this was great. Also jenny, please don't apologize for buying merch... you're a professional theme park reviewer, it's literally your job to buy merch

Tom Uithol

Ahh I love this video! Joined patreon for it! First of all, your dutch is very good, all your translations where on point even the ones you felt unsure about. "Tover" does not always translates to 'magic' one on one but for all tense and purposes of this vid you got the translation right! Second, I am so happy that you got to learn about the (silly) tradition about the toadstools! I have a pic of myself, 3 years old on the toadstool taken in the early '90's. Third, and last, once you open your stroopwafels (Which are Dutch, not Swiss!!) do yourself a favor and eat them with an hot cup of coffee or tea. Put the stroopwaffel on top of your hot cup for a few minutes and enjoy!

Minnie

I was very interested I just didn’t say anything, so thank you to those 3 people who commented!

Tom Uithol

If you want to look at those pictures, google search "Anton Pieck Efteling" and you'll be able to find tons of his work!

Hartleinrolle

That’s the content I'm here for. I guess there’s no Wuzetown soundtrack because the majority of it is probably just stuff they licensed. Phantasialand didn’t really get into original scores until Chiapas in 2014 when they hired Imascore. On Temple Of The Nighthawk they even played the iconic track "The Egg Travels" from Walt Disney’s animated cult classic "Dinosaur".
Oh well, I hope the Deep In Africa CD features the original hit single "Kamboleo (Drums Of Africa)" by Se-side. That’s one of the best coaster songs, closely followed by Klemens Werner’s "Ride On".

Heljhammack

Was it enchanted forest? I think they had them when I was little

melmelmelmel

first things first….. your Vivienne necklace 💅💅

Icba Luv

Will there be an Efteling vlog next month? X

alphawolf

yay I love seeing someone stoked for souvenirs, best part of trips

Roelant Frijns

As a Dutch person, this is a dream come true.

Ben Hassan

You’re spoiling us!

Eric MacMillan

Best month ever thanks so much Jenny

Andreas Stahl

I have to remind myself every time that "Movie Park Germany" is what they call the park today. When I grew up there, it opened as "Warner Brothers Movie World" and major celebrities showed up for the opening (they go George Clooney and Michael Douglas, among lots of others). I think the park got sold more than once and eventually lost the license to use the WB name, but that's how I'll always think of it. I hope you get to go back to Europe some more for trips because I would love your take on Parc Asterix, Europa Park and Heidepark for example, or even Thorpe Park?

AK Barratt

Themed room sprays are such a genius souvenir idea. The Orlando parks would make bank if they sold "Horizons Orange Field" and "E.T. Forest" scents.

RichterCa

Just so I'm clear, the Merlin song was about a Song of Ice and Fire set in a Wheel of Time?

S G Matthews

I can definitely relate to your problem with the mushroom… I went to the UK back when Doctor Who was huge, I saw a big Dalek and it had to be mine… three days later I’m panicking that it was gonna keep me from going home.

Rika

Never getting “we’re in love” out of my head, thanks Jennyyyy🫶🏻

t0tally 3rica

Tiny pink pack pack is just like the dreamy one from acnh:)

t0tally 3rica

Also I’m 24 and as a zillenials i love mini backpacks as purses they are a staple. I always get the kids ones from Target.

Luis

Such cool stuff!! I really hope you frame those placemats they are beautiful. But that mushroom stool story had me on the edge of my seat omg. Obviously you got it home but I was sweating it out wondering how you managed to bring it with you. What a way to end the video!!

Brian Webb

One thing that I was unclear on, what are Jenny's feelings on Sam the clapper board and Long Neck?

Ren ☆

I’m so glad you made this lol I love a haul through a Jenny filter

Alex Andra

Jenny do you set a merch budget before you go? Or do you just buy whatever suits your fancy and worry about how that affects your wallet later? Can I ask what the merch budget for this trip was? (Sorry if this was covered in the video I was multitasking so I didn’t catch every word)

Alex Andra

(No judgment at all to the answers btw I was just raised in an anti-souvenir household so I’m so curious how the other side plans for this)

Jenny Nicholson

Yeah, you know, like Merlin. And then he goes down the path to the public domain tavern with circular door and sloping grass covered roof

Cecile

thank you for feeding us

Jenny Nicholson

Since that one's getting a proper video I don't think I'm gonna do vlog style!

Jenny Nicholson

Oh yeah there are many I'd still like to see! Up for consideration in Europe rn are: - Europa Park - Futuroscope - Plopsaland - Gardaland I think I'm less likely to do ones like Thorpe Park because my impression is it's more focused on coasters and the areas aren't so themed

Sam

No it was a different one haha T__T wow and all this time I thought my home town was so original

Dan Gibbins

I am not someone who is ever going to say "That was too much plush." It is an alien sentence to me, I am not about that life. As much as I am still all in on seeing the third hour of Evermore... I'm now a little extra excited for the Efteling video, because I am hoping for Langnek lore. I'm crossing fingers to hear "Part Six: Langnek," and then 15 full minutes of Langnek's deal.

Allessandra

The mushroom stool is really a galaxy brain idea as a companion to an apple pie tree you made the right call

Dan Gibbins

Any thoughts on Tivoli Gardens? I've had to cancel two trips there in as many years and I'm curious what I'm missing.

Dana Stoof

I think the mystery pin you got might be the giant Djinn from Fata Morgana? His squatting pose and the white drapey outfit remind me of him anyway.

Dana Stoof

Just look up "The Six Servants" and you can find out all about Langnek lore! I was obsessed with Grimm fairytales when I was little and let me tell you, some of them are wild. A personal favourite of mine is The Twelve Windows in which the princess who gets courted just cuts off the heads of every suitor who fails her task and mounts them on pikes. Real girlboss energy.

Shaun Cheah

All Germans are furries; you heard it hear first, folks.

Shaun Cheah

There make be snake plants!

Peachy Parfait

taking notes for this packing cube life hack 📝

Natalie

With the placemats I instantly imagined you having a whimsical tea party or dinner party, using them functionally.

Natalie

I am American and I grew up with one. It was from 1996 I think. Had family birthdays and anniversaries on it. It showed the whole year on one page (framed in our kitchen), and each person/event had it's own colored dot that was on the day

B Hair

This was so enjoyable to watch!

Let 💛

You are spoiling us this month Jenny, I love your purchases so much

Matthew McCoy

I loved this video, specially the bit of mushroom stool drama at the end. You obviously had a blast during your trip!

Iris

I'm glad you're posting stuff, I've missed you.

Dash

I think one of the silhouettes you missed was a magic tree?

Laurel Rae

100% a judgement free zone! You kept saying things were embarrassing and I was like “no no! If we’re paying money to watch bonus Jenny content we obviously don’t think your interests are silly!”

Laurel Rae

Me too! I can’t fathom being okay buying souvenirs so this video was like watching someone buy a sports car haha

Laurel Rae

I also joined Patreon for this video haha I saw the clip on twitter and I had to take the plunge

superb lobster

The little music boxes are the coolest thing.

Thread Bomb

Does anyone else find all the Efteling mascots creepy and offputting?

Asmodeus

I guess the closest word to 'Tover' would be 'Conjure'. Though its not exact since the way we use it (as a verb or a noun) it can also just mean 'Magic' or 'Enchanting'

S G Matthews

I have to return the Dalek to the store… which is a VERY common practice here in the States, but I guess isn’t really a thing in the UK ☹️

Devin M

I’m probably going to Efteling in the next few weeks. I’m not big on merch, but the anniversary tote looks cool!

Jeremie

Utterly delightful. I love misshapen plus toys, I also think they’re cuter!

Lindsey Keefer

Oh my god I love everything. The souvenir express thing is genius!

Lindsey Keefer

Also the idea of an electrical transformer-themed ride is hilarious lmao

Ben Sherwood

You're right that Thorpe Park is more coaster focused. You'd probably enjoy Alton Towers more as they have more theming and variety in ride types. Also they have a rollercoaster restaurant.

Libby Williams

We only did one day at efteling and did our souvenir shopping right at the end as it was closing so we rushed and I so regret not getting a little music box, I think they're so cool. Re the twinkeltoorts, I looked it up beforehand and I'm pretty sure the interactive ones were like twice the price of the current ones. Shoutout to efteling customer service though - we didn't open ours until we were back in the UK and it didn't work, so I emailed them and they sent a new one straight away ❤️

Rose Stachowicz

Anyone know what the classical song is for the first magic mushroom music box? I don't recognize it but it's beautiful (40:20 mark)

biggiesmartypants

Een beetje van Jenny en een beetje van Duolingo ^_^

Rosi Steiner

This is so delightful! As a Dutch person who doesn't really have any memories of or nostalgic attachment to the Efteling (though I must've been at least once, you know, as is the law), it's so interesting and fun seeing it through your eyes and hearing you be so knowledgeable about it. Also weirdly living for your pronunciation of my language, I don't often get a chance to hear it like that! Anyway thanks for the yummie content :)

Rose Stachowicz

Yes, it is, thank you! It's lovely as a music box.

Steve Ray

I always thought "Ilse, She-Wolf of the Something Something" referred to her surly demeanor, but maybe that's literally how she dressed for work.

Odin Linga

Did I hear correctly that there was a Nick Land? that's hilarious

asunlitrose

This was fun to watch! No apologies needed, your haul was chock full of neat things. I often experience the 'non-buyer's regret,' so this was very satisfying! I'm glad the Saga of the Mushroom Chair had a happy ending :) (Also that tree is the cutest mascot!)

Ello Asty

Unrelated- is the master comment at the top of your Patreon that summarized all your videos disappear? I don't see it on my phone.

Jenny Nicholson

Pinned posts don't show up on mobile, I've been begging patreon to change that for at least a year (because a lot of people only use mobile) but they never do -_-

Shred Cadmium

I can see it OK using a mobile browser rather than the app, so that might be a workaround

Eric MacMillan

You can see the master post in the app by typing "master post" into the "search posts" field at the top of Jenny's page. It should be the only post that shows up. But yeah new patrons would never know to look for that, really annoying they dont let people using the app see whats pinned to the top.

Noa J

I went to Efteling yesterday and this video is such a treat, can't wait for more Efteling related content!! And don't ever feel stupid or apologize for getting something that brings you joy :)

Anna Hisse

Any American can explain how your child sizes for clothes work? I had a chuckle when Jenny guessed that the Rotkäppchen cape was for children aged 4 to 8 and then wondered how you sized children clothes across the Atlantic.

Anna Hisse

I'm super curious, isn't there a similar service in big US parks? (asking because I've never been in a park that doesn't have it but I've never been in a park outside Europe)

Jenny Nicholson

For kids clothes it's by age. So babies it says a range of months like "3-6 mo", then for kids it says a range of years, up to size 10-12 Tween/teen clothing is odd numbers like 1, 3, 5 and women clothing is even like 2, 4, 6 but I assumed it was too small to be women's sizes

Megan Onuma

I really enjoyed that mushroom story! But you missed the obvious pun!! There wasn’t much room!

Clara

The anniversary plates are from Blonde Amsterdam, they have a lot of fun stuff in that style!

Clara

Also, "toveren" is the act of doing magic, magic and enchantment both have different words (magie and betovering). Toverstaf is a magic wand, because it's the wand that can perform magic, Toverland would be the land where magic is performed. People also often say "magische toverstaf", because magie and toveren are decidedly different words.

Anna Hisse

Oooh I didn't know about the odd/even thing! Thank you very much!

Doptera

The icon you didn't recognize in the center of the red and white plaid is the Fairytale Tree!

JupiterBee

I wish more US theme parks focused on these original characters instead of just dumping a bunch of IP's in one location.

Bridie Cox

Highly recommend Kubo and the Two Strings! I saw it in the cinema and a couple of mum’s with their kids left because they were too spooked. Advertising for it was really misleading

Andrew van Baarsen

Oh my god my BF would really love that wolf hat. Can you tell me how to spell the things you mentioned?

Wanda Roslyn (edited)

2026-10-07 10:00 hi! I wanted to ask, was the park still as enjoyable as an english speaker? I am in the UK and I want to experience a big "themed" park, getting to Efteling is a lot cheaper than flying to the US, would you recommend the trip? Thanks! I'm really looking forward to the rest of you video :)
2022-09-30 22:50

Jenny Nicholson

Yes, all the staff spoke English to some degree and most written media (menus, the plaques explaining stories in the fairytale forest) had English translations underneath. The dark rides are mostly visual storytelling but new ones like Symbolica will throw in an English line now and then. The only things where language might be an issue were the shows Raveleijn and the children's shows in the fairytale forest but I did learn enough Dutch to roughly understand the puppet show for babies lol. Tbh I'd recommend it over a disney park at this time, especially if it's cheaper. Disney has made it so you basically have to book rides, but booking them is a nightmare and also now costs extra. We did Efteling in one of their busiest summer weeks and never waited more than 30 minutes for anything by just being strategic about what time of day we rode (the app helps by showing crowd prediction graphs)

Anna O.

This makes me want to convince my siblings we should all go to Efteling together.

Jack Avalon

THE TWINKLE TORCH IS GIVING SO MUCH OF THE TALISMAN FROM HALLOWEENTOWN

Kyleigh Archer

Jenny you have to try and use that wand at Universal

cookie 9028

Are you still going to do a separate Movie Park video on patreon or would that not work because they didn’t let you film?

l

I love the jester princess

Ella M

I love how Jenny expressed confusion over the fact that the father of the jester princess is not a jester, implying that jester-dom(?) is a dominant genetic condition, passed from generation to generation.

Caitlin Dunsmoor

You might be able to use that Toverland magic sensor wand in the Wizarding World, the technology isnt that complicated

Jaiden Cirioli

jenny have you been to the enchanted forest in oregon????? it gives me these vibes but on like a miniscule scale

TalysAlankil

it's taken me forever to watch this but this made me feel better about my own theme park merch hauls (though i didn't really get anything from efteling, sadly)

Laura Robles

I went to Eftaling in 2006. I thought it was pretty delightful. I didn’t buy any souvenirs though. I love the unicorn and the dragons you bought.

AnKo .

I cannot believe you did not recognise the fairytale tree on the kitchen towel 😆

michael

thank you for playing the music box jenny that was lovely

michael

pardoes looks like mr mime 😭
