Join in on this exclusive monthly tutorial on how to create study sketches from reference THEN turning them into your own art!

Here it is everyone! The first exclusive tutorial of the year 2022! So as the title mentions, we will be going over 'creating studies from reference AND turning these studies into your own art'.

This is one of the longest tutorial videos I've made to date - but for good reasons! This video covers finding reference, creating studies/sketches from reference then turning them into your own artworks! I created all three of these pieces in real time within this video.

This  post contains the 2 hour step by step tutorial video, the open-layered Photoshop files and my full Photoshop brush set.

See attached for all the files - the video is embedded on this post.

Give me a message if you'd like an invite to our Discord!

Where did you get these reference photos?

Learned so much from this video! Thank you for encouraging free flowing, spontaneous sketching! I’m always so concerned with intentionality or perfection, yet I crave the spontaneous style so much. This is great encouragement for me to get back to sketching for fun!

Hi Philip, I’ve recently followed your 21 Draw course & subsequently subscribed here, but I’ve noticed that your hard chalk brush doesn’t seem to work as well in Procreate, it just doesn’t feel right. Do you have a procreate specific version of that brush at all?

Hi Philip. I've also recently joined the community and very much enjoying the content and getting motivated! :) A quick question. Are you able to turn on subtitles/closed captions for your vimeo? There were a handful of times where I wished I could read and confirm what you just said. Even if the auto-generated captions aren't perfect, it's an option I like to have on (and I have a feeling there are others that might also appreciate it). Definitely NOT a deal-breaker if it's not available. But thought it'd be good to ask in case it was a setting you could easily turn on from your side. Thanks again for creating this community and sharing your beautiful art/process!
