If I can put on my cynical business Justine perspective for a second: we gotta think about what gets people to click on romance/smut. Will-they-won't-theys are popular, but obviously we're not doing that, and even if we were it would be annoying to do some sort of miscommunication trope that ends up as nothing more than a plot cul-de-sac. so that's out. So, okay, the couple is not losing any stability, and we're not artificially pitting them against each other to fill the middle episodes of a long season on 2000s network television. Cutesy slice-of-life stuff is red meat for the fans but I don't think it draws clicks. The explicit butchfemme comic brings people in for being an explicit butchfemme comic-- and I think it's actually more the second thing than the first that might be the key, as long as it's linked to the stakes of the current conflict. NSFW or not, scenes where Ro does the protective badass shtick is probably what the viewership is clamoring for, if the salivating commenters across multiple platforms are anything to go by. I don't think that's necessarily a dom thing with ropes and BDSM-- although, what do I know? But I think it's definitely related to top/butch/masc/whatever term people want to use for whatever dopamine juice they get from searching "butchfemme comic" on Google. Ro providing safety for Isi (and a chest to fall asleep on) in a way that attempts to solve whatever the current conflict is, and then Isi using that safety to express her feminine power (and being a comfort to Ro in a way that Ro's persona can use) to pursue her character goals further. If that's naked, fine, but it could just as easily be in Santa suits. So, we just need a credible threat, and Ro to save the day from that threat in a credible yet awesome way- and then that enables Isi to do something truly incredible, which in turns makes Ro's heart flutter- and so on and so forth, snowballing into a thousand years of character-motivated yuri plot. And did I mention Isi falling asleep on top of Ro? That a few times, as well.

I know this can stray close to "brave knight and damsel-in-distress" but I actually think it more closely parallels Isi being a hyper-competent boss babe who wants there to be one person who will take charge for her-- and of course, for someone presenting as more stoic like Ro, having the same person both look to her to safety yet also embrace her hidden vulnerability-- if the audience can feel this relationship during an attempted resolution of tension-whether it's during gasps from the fans at a sold-out-show or gasps from... Isi-- I think it will create anticipation for whatever the subsequent chapter will offer.

I think times are also getting hard for some people with gas and whatnot. As if things weren’t hard enough for everyone. It sucks to hear that though! Just from other Patreons I’m in, the NSFW tends to draw a lot in like moth to a flame so it’s probably not a bad idea! I will definitely not say no!😂 What about more Patreon only chapters you have to subscribe to see. NSFW and just cute side quest type things

I will NEVER say no to NSFW content, but for me, the best part is feeling close to the process with things like these polls. It's so fun to request specific NSFW content, vote on things, or ask a question in the Q&A. It's cool to hear your process with the Q&As, and it feels intimate in such a cool way when you consult or involve us. The cameo idea has always been a huge draw for me. The idea of eventually having the hard copy on my shelf and being able to pull it down to show people, "Look, I followed this as it was coming out and got to be featured," is so cool! If it helps, practically all Patreon campaigns I know of (my own included) are losing members. I think it's simply just the shape the world is in right now, becasue I really really doubt that all the artists I know just collectively are doing something wrong suddenly all at the same time. It's just rough financially for everyone, and sadly, art being a luxury, our work is the first one on the chopping block when it comes to budgeting. Hang in there, you are doing fantastic work!!
