How sensitive are your feet?

After years of skiing, hiking, ballet, and heels, mine are pretty tough. But let me tell you, taking photos alone is harddd.

First, I scout my little spot off the trail, make sure it's not too visible from the trail, and that I'm not putting myself in any obvious dangerous spots (i.e. under a leaning tree, near a big wasp nest, or under unstable rocks). Then, I find a spot for that tripod, get everything level and focus my camera.

Then I strip.

The hardest part is getting barefoot. In some photos, like the first, where my feet aren't in the shot, I'll leave my shoes on and run around in hiking boots and nothing else. For solo shoots, I set my camera to take 10 photos after a 10 second timer, run to my spot, pose, and  try to breathe and relax into that pose for 10 clicks. Then I'm up, back at my camera, inspecting my pose and focus, before doing it again and again. I keep going until my toes or ass is numb.

As you can imagine, it adds up to a lot of photos and some very cold feet.
