I miss Emily, and the trees in Washington, and hiking familiar trails, in familiar mountains. I miss knowing when the best times to go were, and where there would be less people. I miss the Washington Trail Association, for their trail knowledge and their work parties. I miss stopping by my favorite breweries after a day on the trail, and driving back down those familiar highways.

Mammoth has been a whole new adventure, and I love it, but I'm still getting used to it. I'm still learning the spots, the ways to go, the turns to take, and the people patterns. The flora is different, and the landscape is different, and the air is different. I feel less sheltered, more visible, more vulnerable. But the beauty is, I'll learn.
