This is for a little day hike in the snow, just outside of Mammoth. Let me walk you through what all I bring for a safe, warm, creative trip.

1. My camera, obviously!

2. My Instax camera

3. My trusted, padded camera case (which is not quite big enough to fit my Instax too, but fits all my little camera accessories)

4. Camping towel- I'm always getting wet and muddy and it's nice to dry off (especially before putting shoes back on)

5. Headlamp- both as an extra light source for my photos, and for the walks back home in the dark

6. Rain cover for my backpack

7. Emergency medical kit, fully packed

8. Extra camera battery, charged

9. Collapsible rain hood for my lens

10. Polarized lens filter

11. 4-stop neutral density lens filter

12. Rechargable battery to recharge my phone

13. Multi-tool with scissors

14. Hand warmers. Very important. Good for keeping both hands and electronics warm enough to function.

15. Handkerchief for use as an emergency lens cap in the event I lose my real one (it's happened)

16. Tissues

17. Glove liners- thin enough to maintain my tiny-camera-button-pushing abilities

18. Hair tie- nowadays I pretty much only use it to hold my bandanna over my camera lens, or hold makeshift filters over my lens (cellophane, leaves, etc)

19. Water bottle. Always stay hydrated.

20. Lightweight backpack. This one's my favorite because it has daisy chain on the back that I can use to tie down my tripod & free up my hands while I walk.

Not pictured: Tripod, 2-3 yards of beige fabric that I use as a picnic blanket, warm layers, snacks, coffee (or other warm drinks), lip balm, spare socks, and the occasional can of beer or two.
