the PNW is in the grips of another heatwave - check in with your family, friends, and neighbors. Share your AC if you have it - or check in with your community to find cooling centers. Stay plenty hydrated, and avoid drinking much alcohol, caffeine, or drinks with lots of sugar. This is likely our new summer normal - preparation and planning is everything, since this certainly won't be the last heatwave we face. 

I'm also keeping an eye on the smoke forecast - while evening air is cool and refreshing in a heatwave, that cooling air can also bring more smoke down to ground level. Luckily, the smoke doesn't look like it'll be too bad in the coming days, and maybe this is just the aforementioned eco-anxiety talking, but it still just feels like a matter of time.
