Project Mourning Star - 2025 Kickoff (Patreon)

January has been a crazy month for me. I'm trying to move back to finishing paintings on roughly a weekly schedule. Something I haven't pulled off in a really long time. So far so good, but there are some reasons why you haven't seen them here, but you will.

I started things off in 2025 by finishing the remaining item illustrations for the DnD reference deck, which I'm realizing just now that I never posted.I then moved on to a painting for my friend Comet Lord, who did a tremendous amount of work on the sculpting of my minis (I'll post that as a separate post right after this one).Last year I agreed to a private commission of a divine spirit that I didn't want to share until the owner got to see it. That was finished last week and I'm waiting for final approval to share it with all of you. Finally, I'm working on the painting above. Most of the work so far was done yesterday, so I'm not too ashamed for having not shared it sooner. This piece is a Knight of Raphael, a member of a mysterious order that controls the flow of Raphael's holy blood throughout the world.I'm pivoting into working full time on my worldbuilding for the RPG again and that means more sketches, more concept art, and rather than do it all for some theoretical piece of work later, I plan on completing multiple illustrations a month as a means of crafting the world through my primary artistic language.

The publisher for the RPG is excited to push forward as well, so there are multiple people pushing to add momentum to Project Mourning Star. Meaning, I might have to give it a proper name at some point.More soon!
