Hey guys,

I've been teasing this other places so I figured you Chosen few should get a bit of extra info. The plan for the next 12-18 months is to work concurrently on both the Tarot and an official Angelarium tabletop RPG guide.

Angelarium RPG

I've begun the process of partnering with an experienced table top roleplaying publisher to create a 5e compatible module for Angelarium. I'm not going to share too much about it until we have an MVP (minimum viable product) to share. Once we have a core piece of content to seed the project, we'll be publishing that in all of the Angelarium community spaces (Patreon, Discord, Facebook group) in order to allow fans to play with it while it's in production and provide feedback. It's going to be distributed for free in PDF form while it's a work in progress and we plan on hosting gaming sessions on the Angelarium discord server. Once it's all ready to publish, we'll launch a big Kickstarter and make a huge fuss about it publicly.I'm hoping to have the MVP to share sometime this Spring or Summer but we'll see.

Angelarium Tarot

I'm very happy with the progress on the major arcana and I intend to finish those first before moving on to the minor arcana. The plan is to ease into making more than one per month, but I'll be posting at least one every month.

The minor arcana will all be hand painted unique illustrations, but I'm expecting them to be a little less involved than the majors. We'll see. Rather than put off that exploration until the first 22 pieces are complete, I want to start messing with ideas for it soon. Once those are ready, I'll post them here to share the progress and thinking. One last thing! I started a Facebook group so that people could share Angelarium inspired creations more easily with me. It's a good place for fanart, tattoos, poems, etc.https://www.facebook.com/groups/685745839544797

Feel free to join. It's a public group.

Much love,

-Pete

The idea of an Angelarium RPG is amazing and I can only congratulate you for taking that step! As a player and game master myself, I can already see endless potential. If I may, I would recommend to you and your partners to reconsider the use of D&D as a system. I understand that, being possibly the most popular RPG out there, the appeal and market reach would be obvious. However, this is a double edged sword. D&D is also an extremely generic, and often misunderstood (if not misused) game. It is good to remember that at its core, D&D is a game about "killing monsters and taking their stuff", set in an archetypal generic fantasy setting descended from the works of Tolkien and similar. It has been expanded ad nauseam in every possible direction and it is now a bland and tired chimera. It might be interesting to research if among the tens of thousands of other game systems that exist, one would be more appropriate to convey the mystical eerie poetry of the world of Angelarium. And if not, it is always possible to create your very own, fine tuned to match your vision of what would a person do in such a world, and what would drive them to do so. I am, in any case, eager to see what comes out of this, and I wish you good luck on the journey!

Hey Noe, I'll definitely consider this perspective as we get into making the MVP. Personally, I'm not attached to any one system of roleplaying. DnD is something I've played but not my favorite story-telling system. The reason I'm leaning toward using it is because of compatibility. The ultimate goal of this project is to allow the most number of people to play with the Angelarium toys in their own game. Right now, they can do that in a totally freeform way by just making up their own stories and rules based on the artwork. Many are already doing that. For this manual, I want to give people the easiest possible pathway to include characters and features from the Angelarium lore in their storytelling sessions. That means meeting them where they are rather than asking them to learn an unfamiliar system. We'll see. This is the view I'm going into this project with, but a core piece of this book is going to be the feedback we receive from the community along the way. This will be the most collaborative Angelarium project to date, so I'm expecting some of my preconceptions to be wrong.

That's great to hear! I'm looking forward to seeing the developments!

While I'd be psyched either way, I tend to agree with Noe here, Mohrbacher. While the reasons to plug it into DnD 5e are good ones, there are also many good reasons to play the field. Namely, storytelling and expression. I would put forward Genesys, if not at least to look at what is out there in terms of how TTRPGs can tell stories, to inform how you choose to handle it.
