Good evening, my friends! I hope everyone is doing well!

Tonight, I'm presenting to you the very first bird feeder in my collection compatible with Amazon's Blink camera.

But don't worry, if you don't have a Blink camera, a version without a camera is also included! So, fun for everyone, without exception!

This is intended as a first test, to evaluate and define the outline of future feeders. Many constraints were encountered, particularly in securing the feeder without hindering access to the camera. From this emerged the new feeder mount that you'll discover with this model.

The project is very simple, with only a few parts, all very easy to print.

Only one part requires a small support, and that's the mounting bracket (for the bottom hole which is countersunk). So use the "supports on buildplate only" function.

Assembly is ultra-fast. However, you will need the following hardware:

(7x) M3x10mm self-tapping screws.

Here's what I used:

Apart from that, a little glue will be required, but very little.

As usual, a BambuLab project is included.

I recommend everyone use at least four walls to ensure strong and durable pieces. I personally used five.

As I mentioned above, a version without a camera is also included. There's only one different piece, the back wall, and it has "without camera" in the name. In the BambuLab file, it's already included on the last plate.

I designed the model with Mini owners in mind. However, I'm wondering if the depth of field is sufficient for the camera. I think so, but I'll definitely try with a plate further forward, but I doubt I can do it for the Minis. I'll wait for your opinions and adjust accordingly.

Finally, I've included a small video clip, which you can see in the zip file. It's been raining a lot here lately, the weather is cloudy, and I think my camera lens is a little dirty. In short, your input will be the best design tool I can have for the next ones! So I'll be eagerly awaiting them.

Hope you like it! Any constructive feedback is welcome!

Have fun, my friend! Keep printing!!!

Blink outdoor 3 cams are no longer available on amazon.ca

PA1 MAKER

Exact. But a majority of customers have the blink 3 for the moment, and the blink 4 is exactly the same size and has the same case as the 3. So it should be ok to use the 4 with this design. :)

Darknynja

This is what I've been waiting for. Thank you, Pascal. I'm glad I ordered the four pack of Blink cameras this time.

Steven Kellerman

Is it my old old eyes or is the position of the camera not centered?

Adam Jones

Great 1st shot at a birdfeeder that utilizes the Blink cameras!! I'm looking forward to printing this one, and also looking forward to more versions as you learn what works best for the camera series!!! The "back-stories" of your journeys while creating your products are always interesting to read!! Thanks for sharing your experiences and hard work!!!

PA1 MAKER

You are correct my friend! The camera was placed to have the lens centered in the design instead of the camera itself.

PA1 MAKER

Probably but i don't know if a suction cup could hold the weight of the assembly + the camera. I will try to make some tests eventually. I'll have to find good quality suction cups.

PA1 MAKER

Thanks again for your kind words my friend! I appreciate it so much!!! ❤️ As a mechanical designer, the creative process is something that has always fascinated me. That's why I like to talk about it, because I know that many people are interested in knowing why a particular part is made the way it is, the constraints that drove the design, and understanding what defined the look of the final result.

Adam Jones

I understand 100%!!! I can spend upwards of a year, from when my brain has a wild idea, until the final completed project. With many, many, changes, and improvements along the journey!!

AmyStar

Very cool! A version for Wyze cams would be neat too :)

Paul G

Beautiful design and thank you for putting holes in the bottom of the food area. I learned the hard way that they're quite necessary.

Paul G

Or if the camera bit was a separate part that attached in a standardized way, then any camera could be used with any bird feeder or house. So there could be a Wyze attachment and a Blink attachment and a whatever attachment, etc., and those attachments would fit in the same place.

Dryrock Design

What a beautiful design! I think it would be much more beautiful if it was produced with wooden filament.

Printcess Pixel

Very cute! We've been debating on whether or not to invest in a cam for bird and squirrel watching and now I feel like my mind has been made up lol!

Gargoyle17

This was a fun project to do with my daughters. Awesome design! Looking forward to more designs that are Blink compatible.

Tim Belton

Love this! Is it possible to have a free standing version for a tabletop? Like have the darker green tray support piece go flush to bottom of the back wall so it sits up

AGENATOR 3D

Printed this tonight. However, the camera was way too tight. I rounded the edges some and managed to force it in the holder, but I'm currently printing the camera part at 101% to see if it fits better. Otherwise it went together perfect.

Jim

This is awesome. A hummingbird feeder with or without the camera would make my wife happy. That camera is great. I have a lot of them sitting around.

Pedro Guinote

Those prints are great! Just one question, if we plan to place them outside, should they be printed in PLA or PETG? Any thoughts?

Rosalyn Seeger

I honestly would print in PETG I have better luck with it in WI weather

Crazyvetfam

So people having issues with camera not going in

AGENATOR 3D

I printed the camera case 1% bigger to fit it better.

Crazyvetfam

so @101% it fit the feeder and the camera

Crazyvetfam

have some one with blink 3 and it will not go on can get 3 corners started

AGENATOR 3D

Yes. Still tight. But fit both.

AGENATOR 3D

I'll take picture in a little bit.

AGENATOR 3D

Actually, I just checked it and you can probably do 102% as there's enough play where it mounts. This would give more room for the camera to fit in without having to really put it in snug.

Gina Garcia

I've been on the hunt for a hummingbird feeder one myself!

Gina Garcia

Just finished up my final piece, got it put together and hung on my tree! Within 5 minutes, I got a momma squirrel in it thinking it’s there just for her! Love it!

Annette Shade

Just got mine up as well. nobody here yet but I heard a squirrel in the tree!!! Hoping for a visitor soon

TheArtifactWorkshop

i think i might just set one of those short jar type feeders in the basket or something for now, but if we get a vote I would add mine to a camera hummingbird feeder for sure.
