Hello my friends!
These last days I wanted to do something different, I missed making vehicles like the ones I did in the past and I was thinking about how I could adapt a model for Christmas time.
I thought of dozens of things, while remaining on my hunger... I couldn't find any design idea that suited me...
Christmas.... Christmas....

(Sometimes we look too far and for too long, and the obvious gets lost... 😂)
Bam! Santa's Sleigh is born!
And its a big model! 340mm in overall length, 150mm wide and 140mm in height. But everything is printable on a reguler 220x 220mm bed, like and Ender. So rougly. I decided to take the same concept as for my birdhouses in terms of construction. During Assembly, you will immediately notice certain similarities.
The whole thing is 100% support free, which wasnt easy at all to figure out!
The assembly is really easy and can be done under minutes.
You will notice that the runner support have two little "legs". This is to take the weight of the sleigh. To prevent the runners from deforming and spread apart, i have put those little legs to take the weight and remove any kind of stress on the runners. Anyways, you'll see what i mean when the whole assembly is done.
NOTE: You will need 4 little screws.... They are m3x10mm (you can use 6-32 screws if you don't have metric hardware) The holes are self-threading, like any of my designs, so both screws will work fine.
NOTE2: I didnt have the time to make instructions. I will add them tomorrow, but you have a nice little vid called "instructions" which let you see how everything goes together!!!
FINAL NOTE (lol): In my pictures, i forgot to put the upholstery in the cargo area. It not really visible, because i have loaded the cargo space with too much gifts, but you have a piece of white upholstery at the back, which you can see in the video. It will be present also in the upcoming instructions.
Some of the gold trims have tricky overhangs. I have tried them with different filament brands, and they all print correctly. Some little cleanup is sometimes necessary because they are really pointy and some slicers process them differently, but in general they print really well and nice.
Honestly, i am really pleased of the final result! The upholstery was quite a challenge too, but in the end, it gives a whole new dimension to the project.
Again, hope you like it! Have fun!
