Hello my friends! Sorry for taking so long before posting another design! I had a lot of issues with this one and it took me much more time than i tought to complete the design!

Let's start by saying this: its a "big print" compare to others! Be aware, almost half a kg will go in this project.

Everything prints fine without supports. You will need some good overhang settings and some bridges are present but nothing really intense. Everything is pretty easy to print.

NOTE 1: Because of the layers orientation, some screw holes may crack. (the one on the vertical surfaces where the tower and the body merge together). So i strongly suggest to glue those parts too. Use the screws as "alignement guides) and add some glue along the edges where the tower meets the body. This will give you a strong, rigid assembly. Do not glue any other parts installed with screws, especially the cleaning door and the support!!!

NOTE 2: The windows and the door are made with a color change. I have included three pictures as examples (two for the windows, one for the door) for the color changes.

NOTE 3: On parts where you have receiveing screw holes (balcony, tower, castle body), use at least 3 walls (shells).

Finally, between the roofs and the castle body, you will find a thin plate covering the whole castle body. This is to prevent any water from leaking inside. As an addition, both roofs have sloped to prevent water from staying on the roof, with gutters on each side to evacuate rain water.

Also, small holes at the bottom are now present, to prevent drowning of the baby birds if any water would get inside.

If you have any other questions, just ask! I will try to help you as much as i can! Have fun!

What do you find works best for birdhouses, PLA or something else? Just wondering if they are affected by the heat.

I love this design thank you

Andrew Smith

Heeeeeeeeeeeeck yeah!!!! Love it.

I have two birdhouses here, printed in PLA+, and after two years outside they have no signs of cracking or fading. And a lot of people use that material too... But other people love to print them in PETG, just to be sure. Birdhouses should never be placed in direct sun. Birds love loations with shades and indirect sun, so i've never had any problem with PLA+.

Glad you like it my friend! 😊

Just finished this, very nice print. When you post on FB, I'll post a picture. My grandson likes it!

Terri Trotter

I'd love to see your version. is there a group for those who make these models.?

Robert Barnes

I don't know, I was going to post it on his FB page, but doesn't appear to be a way to post pictures. Mine looks exactly like his picture here, must have used the same color filament.

Lino Rocha

I thought birds houses abs more durable for weather?

Wayne Bender

How did you get the black motar for the stones? a sharpie or a multicolor printer? If you're using a Bambu w/ AMS, could you also release the multicolor 3mf versions?

Terri Trotter

I think that's just shadows. I did a black mortar and it's different looking than the image shown.

Terri Trotter

I posted my finish on cults. I made mine princess not "real"

Gary Wood

hi, newbie member here, love this castle birdfeeder, would you happen to remember or have still the list of colours you used to print yours?, and PETG i'm guessing?

Lrandall119

Does this have a Bambu Lab project file? It's so adorable I would love to make it.

Chris West

It does not include a 3MF project file, but that doesn’t make it any less printable. 3MF project files are something we started including much later. This design predates that change. The download still includes all of the STL files, instructions, and photos you need to successfully print the model. Simply import the STL files onto your build plates, assign the colors you want to each part, choose your preferred print profile, and you’re ready to print. Many makers actually prefer this approach since it gives them complete control over part placement, colors, and print settings. -Chris
