The Chosen One ⚔️ First painting of 2025 ! Process + Preview (Patreon)

Hello Patrons,

Here's the very first painting of 2025 !
This one has been on my mind since May 2024 - I did a painting called "Relic" then, that I ended up not liking - I never shared it on social media, I wasn't satisfied with it. I thought it could look better if I changed a few things. Here it is :

I liked the idea/concept but I didn't know how to do a better composition, I was stuck - and I found this image on Pinterest last December :

It was exactly what I had in mind for the redraw of Relic ! So I based my idea on this illustration by Severino Baraldi ✨
Once the sketch was finished, I felt like the title didn't fit the illustration perfectly. So I changed it to The Chosen One.

Here's the sketch :

The first painting session : blue !

Second session : orange and brown

While painting the mermaid I thought, what if... no outline ?? Sometimes I love how soft it looks 💓
