Hi friends ! It's been a while ! ๐Ÿค™

Today I wanted to share the first pages of my new "experiment" sketchbook - my only goal with this sketchbook is to try new techniques and art supplies, especially gouache, ink and colored pencils !

G O U A C H E

I started with gouache - I think this is my all time favorite kind of paint, I am the kind of person who fangirls about artworks made with gouache - the rendering is amazing, artists who use gouache are the best, I am in awe with their work, I admire people who can use gouache effortlessly and I hope one day I will be able to create with gouache too !! Yes, I love gouache.

Anyways, I started with little shapes, leaves, stars and flowers. I love to mix colors when it comes to gouache because they all look very good somehow ??

Then I practiced with faces and hands.

I always use ink, all my illustrations are made with Colorex ink. I love this brand, their colors are very bright and easy to use - the rendering never disappoints ! But I use it mostly to outline my characters, never to actually paint with it. So I tried to paint with it, and it's harder than I thought (I did use black ink for Inktober and I loved it ! But colors seem harder to use than black).

I stared with little shapes, just like I did with gouache. Leaves, stars...

Then I tried to draw some faces I like - this is a Wyatt Shears from the band The Garden (I also want to draw more men in this sketchbook !!) - I sketched his face with a colored pencil and painted over it. I like the rendering on the first one I did (on the left), the blue jacket looks cool and his face looks smooth, I am happy with this one ! The second one is okay I guess, just not as fun as the first one.

That's it for today, let me know if you like this kind of posts, I'd be happy to show you more ! And if you have any question, feel free to ask ๐Ÿ‘‹

Have a lovely week ! ๐Ÿ’–

Hugs,

Sibylline

Really beautiful! I love gouache too. I especially like the blue girl you painted here.

My favourite things in people's sketchbooks are the experiments. There's something special about the trial and error and seeing where it leads. Beautiful!

Thank you so much Hisako ! I love other people's sketchbooks experiments, but it's always so difficult and weird to share our own messy sketches ! ๐Ÿ˜Š Very happy you like it ! ๐Ÿ’–

Merci Margaux !!

Hi Sibylline! I'm pretty new here. Is this correct, that you use inks for outlining in your paintings? I hear this the first time in this post of yours. I tried to outline things with acryla gouache and it seemed very difficult as the paint dries so fast on the brush. I was wondering how you could draw outlines so smoothly. Do you have the inks always nearby and mix them to for the matching colours for outlines? Best wishes!

Sibylline Meynet

Hello Johanna ! Yes I do outline with acryla gouache. Maybe it could be easier if you added a bit of water to your paint ?
