Summer cover for Mossery 🌞🌵🦋 Preview + Process (Patreon)

I finished the Summer cover for Mossery last week and I thought I'd share the process with you !
We are making a new kit and they needed a new cover. The theme is Summer, so I sketched this :

I wanted to do something very different from the two previous covers so I went for a pink and olive palette. I also missed the mysterious vibe from the first cover, that wasn't too obvious on the second one (Spring cover).

After sending them this design, they asked me to draw the characters in different poses to see if it would look better :

But we stuck with the original design. It was too pink and orange for them so they asked me to add a blue sky instead and get rid of the big orange sun.
This is what I suggested :

They liked the second option best so I painted the front and back on two separate pieces of paper. This is the final result before I scanned it and added more details on Procreate :

I scanned these and made one big illustration in Photoshop. I duplicated some bushes here and there, added some details on Procreate. I'm so happy Procreate exists !! So helpful for big illustrations like this one.
