Mermay in my sketchbook 🐟🐚✨ Process (Patreon)

Hi Patrons ! 🌼

How was your weekend ?

I spent mine working on my artbook and other cool projects. I managed to find some time to paint a little something for myself !

I thought I'd paint a mermaid for Mermay, it's probably going to be the only Mermay drawing I'll do this year, too !

I thought I'd do something quick and simple in my sketchbook, but ended up painting a art nouveau inspired little painting and it took way more time that I initially planned 😅

This is the sketch :

Black outlines

First layers of acryla gouache

Finished painting :

I edited it in Procreate to lighten her skin, it was initially the same color as her tail but it didn't look like what I wanted.

I love mermaids but when it comes to drawing one, I never know what to do and feel like everything has been done already, so this was my little challenge this weekend 🐟

In other news, I finished the cover of my artbook last week (finally !!), I'm very happy with the result ! I'll show you the final illustration very soon 🥰

That's it for today !

Thanks again for your support on Patreon, it means a lot 🧡✨

Have a lovely week,

Sibylline
