Hi Patrons !

Today I want to share the process behind my last sketchbook cover for Mossery ! This is the 4th and last cover I did for them. I don't know if you noticed but I did a cover for each season 🌸

This one just came out on their website, and I think it's my favorite (with Automn Foxes maybe) !

How I worked on this project - on all 4 covers - is that I usually sketched 2 thumbnails. Mossery also told me what they'd like to see on the cover (elements, colors). These are the 2 first sketches I sent them for Winter :

1 // Wolves

2 // Hares

I made sure to create two different atmospheres so they can also pick their favorite color palettes !

They picked the second design (and I was thrilled because it was my favorite) 🐰
They asked me to change the head of the main character to make her look at the trail of hares following her. So it ended up looking a bit like the illustration for Gallery Nucleus I posted on Patreon a few weeks ago. Oh well 🤷‍♂️ They also suggested I should add a pattern on her jacket so obviously I had to add some stars ✨

This is the final draft I sent them, and they replied with changes I had to make for my illustration to fit on their sketchbook cover :

After I made these changes, I was able to start painting the background on paper. I scanned the landscape and decided to draw the character and the hares on my iPad - it's an easy solution when you have deadlines and want the drawing to be clean and ready to be changed/adjusted if needed !

And this is the final cover, the one that I sent to Mossery for printing :

I am happy with how we can still see how the background is painted on paper despite the digital aspect of the characters !

And here's a picture of the actual sketchbook !

That's it for today - I hope you like this cover !
I am done with Mossery sketchbooks for now, I don't know if I'll make more in the future but the series is complete and it feels nice.
I am still working on the art kit 2.0, and I cannot wait for it to be over as well to be honest 😅 I feel like I have been spending so much time and energy on this project that I am starting to miss creating for myself. Even though it's a super fun project to work on, I feel like I need more time for myself these days and focus on what I want to create next. And I want to thank you guys for allowing me to take breaks sometimes !! You have no idea how your support helps me every day.

So thank you 💕🌸✨

Talk to you soon 🤗
Hugs,

Sibylline
