Happy Colors 🌻💙 New painting ! Preview + Process (Patreon)

Hi Patrons 🌞

Here's a new piece I just finished this weekend. I wanted to paint something before going on vacation for 2 weeks.

I recently finished Vincent Van Gogh's biography and wow - what a life, what a story. He used to say blue and yellow were his happy colors, so I felt like painting some sunflowers using this color combo.

Here's my process for this painting :
I first sketched a little silhouette (initial idea). Once I liked the composition and pose, I took a picture of myself to use as a reference.
I sketched the second version, which is the one I used for the final painting.

Then as usual, I printed it out on paper, and traced it on watercolor paper with my light table.

And started painting with acryla gouache !

Couldn't resist  painting this pattern 👀

Final painting :

I hope you'll like it !! 💙

I've always loved Van Gogh's work but knowing what his life was like in details (thanks to the letters he used to write to his brother Theo) is something else.

I went to Auvers-sur-Oise (France) in 2020 to see where he lived the last few months of his life, unfortunately his room and the house he stayed at were closed because of Covid. I still got to see his grave, and I was moved to discover his brother Theo was buried next to him.

I'm flying to Montreal tomorrow !! Sorry in advance if I don't post a lot while on vacation  ! 🙇‍♂️🌼

Just a little reminder that I will be tabling at Montreal Comic Con on July 8, 9 & 10 ! I can't wait to see some of you there 😍🌻

Thanks again for your support on Patreon !! You guys are the best 😭🧡

Hugs,

Sibylline
