My painting for Disney ! ✨ Preview + Process (Patreon)

Hello Patrons ! 🌼

Sorry I have been quiet lately - I am currently moving out and working on commissioned work at the same time, so it's been hard for me to find some time to update you and post new art on Patreon !

Today I am sharing this piece I painted for a show at Gallery Nucleus called Disney Dream Destination !

It's a cool concept - Disney gave us a list of the movies we could illustrate and the rule was simple : create a traveling poster for it. It's a fun exercise and of course I had to choose Fantasia. It's one of my favorite Disney film, especially the Pegasus/Centaur part ✨
You can see some posters from previous shows here and my all time favorite print is this one - I would love to purchase one when it's back in stock 😍

They asked for 2-3 sketches and picked their favorite. I sent them 6 because I loved drawing thumbnails for it :

They picked the first one, and this is the colored sketch - I went with a purple/pink/orange palette (not my usual but I loved working with these colors !) :

The size they wanted was 16' x 20' (40,6cm x 50,8cm) - it's pretty big and I'm not used to paint on such big sizes !
I printed the sketch out on 4 different A4 pieces of paper and traced it on watercolor paper :

So sorry about the lighting in these pictures - I am changing PCs at the moment, and had to uninstall Photoshop from this laptop, so I can't edit my pictures anymore 😳 but I couldn't wait to share these process pictures with you, I hope you don't mind !

First painting session : the background !

I then started to paint the main characters. I began with hot pink :

Then a very muted purple for the man and little Pegasus :

I got bored of painting the guy so I took a break and painted the tree instead 😳

Almost there !!

And here's the final painting :

Details :

The original painting will be available for sale at Gallery Nucleus later this year, I think the show will start in December and end in January 🥰

I am very happy I got to work with Disney - and Gallery Nucleus again ! It's a dream come true to be honest. I spent so much time watching this chapter of Fantasia when I was little, I'm pretty sure this film made me want to become an illustrator from a very young age !

I hope you'll like it !! 🌼

I will be back soon with a sketchbook tour, a poll for November rewards and some pictures of my new house 👀

Thanks again for your support on Patreon !! You're the best 🧡

Hugs,

Sibylline
