Hello Patrons !

Here's another mermaid painting for Mermay !

It's a redraw from 2019 (another one !). I kept the same composition and changed some details and picked another color palette (still in love with teal and orange these day !! 🧡)

Here's the illustration from 2019 (I still like it a lot ! I believe this an A5 painting) :

I decided to paint the new version on an A3 piece of paper (4 times the size of the original illustration). I don't paint on large sizes often so I thought it would be the perfect occasion to take my time and make something I could be proud of 😊

I started with the background, and mostly used coral and beige.

Once the background was done, I couldn't wait to start painting with cool tones ! And as you can see it's also the ugly stage for the mermaids 🧜‍♀️🧜‍♀️

Slowly adding details 👀

And it's starting to look like something 🙇‍♀️

Hello mermaid #2 👋

This is what it looked like before I started adding the little details (scales on the tails, starfish...)

And here's the finished illustration !
I fixed a few things in Procreate - the rock's color was too similar to the mermaids' skin tone so I darkened it a little bit, also darkened the waterlilies because they're in the foreground.

Details (from the original illustration, not edited) :

2019 vs 2023 :

Someone asked me to share the colors I use when I paint ! So here's my palette for this Mermay :

The palette (from Sugarhouse Ceramics Co) 🌷

That's it for today ! I don't have a name for this painting so feel free to comment if you're inspired 🥰

I hope you'll like it 🧡

Thanks again for your support on Patreon !! 🪷🧜‍♀️✨

Hugs,

Sibylline

Beautiful! I am moving next month and I am quite literally decorating my office to match the color palette that you use so I can have the most beautiful gallery wall of all my Patreon rewards. I hope I can add this one to it, too!
