🐍 Méduse 🐍 First painting of 2024 ! Preview + Process (Patreon)

Hello Patrons !

I hope you had a lovely time with your loved ones during the holidays ✨

I just finished a new painting of Medusa - I love this character, she's so intriguing and there's so many cool things to do with the snakes, the colors, the composition..!

One of my favorite paintings I did in 2022 was a Gorgon so I thought I'd give it another try and create another interesting look for Medusa !

The pose is based on a picture of a statue by Arno Breker called Flora (1943) I found on Pinterest :

Pencil on watercolor paper :

First : skin and shadows with ash green and blue green

Dark blue greens

A pop of yellow ! I thought the snakes would look less scary if I made them look like candy 😺

Orange + starting to outline

Added some patterns on the snakes to ass more details and depth to her hair. Also wanted to add a Greek reference to this illustration so I drew a Gorgon on her corset !

Finished illustration !

Colors I used (didn't use the misty green though !)

And the palette !

I hope you'll like it ! I had such a lovely time going back to my studio and paint this girl. What a great way to start the year !! 🥰

Thanks again for your support on Patreon !! 🧡🌷✨

Hugs,

Sibylline
