Hideaway 🐸🪷 Preview + Process (Patreon)

Hello Patrons,

Here's a new painting - it's a redraw from 2022 ! I remember liking this painting but something about it bothered me, I wasn't sure what it was.
Two years have passed and I now know what I didn't like about it - it looks like it's unfinished, empty. I love the Art Nouveau aesthetic and I think I missed the fun elements of this art movement (arabesque, shapes, colors...).

Here's the original painting from 2022 :

I made a few changes in Procreate and decided to add more details. I looked at Art Nouveau perfume bottles and vases on Pinterest, and was inspired by these :

Here's the new sketch on paper - as you can see I added handles, and some details in the vase design. I made the mermaid and flowers bigger, too !

Sketches always look better than the finished piece 🤷‍♀️

Black outlines with acryla gouache to be able to see the important lines underneath the first layer of paint !
