Mad Hatter's. (Patreon)

Back in the late 1990s, I was contracted by BMEZine to travel to tattoo conventions, spread word about the site, and photograph anyone who I thought would fit in well with what BME was trying to do. At the time, digital camera technology was still in it's infancy, and shooting on 35mm film brought with it privacy complications that some folks chose not to risk.

BME had yet to start it's IAM subsite- which not only encouraged community interaction but also uploads to the site, giving it a massive advantage over any potential competition- so the push to have content was deemed worth the price of plane tickets, hotel rooms, and convention costs.

I would have been around 23 at the time and didn't bother with detailed notes, so I can't say who these two folks are other than that they graciously stopped to be photographed.

Taken in Portland, Maine at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party Convention. 1997 or 98.
