Jim Ward at the APP Conference, 2018 (Patreon)

We've posted before about the trip to Europe taken  by Jim Ward, Doug Malloy, Sailor Sid Diller, and Elizabeth Weinzirl in 1978- it's a nodally significant journey that found them meeting up with Alan Oversby (Mr. Sebastian), Rudy Inhelder, Cristopher Gotch, Tattoo Samy (Horst Streckenbach) and a variety of Euro body art fans- but there's nothing like listening to a primary source recount the journey.

This video, filmed at the 2018 APP Conference & Expo (on an iPhone; forgive the quality) features the last living participant of the travelers sharing some of his anecdotes from the trip.

Jim is a fantastic story teller and one of the pillars of the modern body piercing movement; if you haven't had a chance to purchase a copy of his book, you can get a personalized copy via his web-shop here: https://www.runningthegauntlet-book.com/shop/
