Occult Vibrations: Knoxville 1986 (Patreon)
Content
Foreground: Shotsie Gorman tattooing a client.
Background: Dana Brunson.
Shotsie is a major nodal point in bridging the fine art world with the tattoo world; he's been at the forefront of documentation (publisher of the Tattoo Advocate) and industry self-regulation (co-founder and former VP of the Alliance of Professional Tattooists), is a published author and poet, and is a regular speaker on the history of tattoo art.
He also tattooed Jack Yount.
Dana is a well known figure in the modern history of tattooing, and maintains a legendary archive of tattoo history ephemera.
Cut/Paste from the main Knoxville Post:
One of the best thing about getting research requests is that it provides motivation to dive through bin after bin of physical prints/negatives looking for a specific image/set of images.
I was recently asked about the 1986 Knoxville, TN Tattoo Convention and while I wasn't able to fulfill their specific request, I did dig out some fun snapshots, likely taken by Jack Yount and Sailor Sid Diller, from the show.
These will eventually drop on our Occult Vibrations Instagram account, but you good folks get them first.
